I was a tomboy till the age of 16. Never played with dolls, mostly played with my grandfather’s tools and most of my friends were guys. I have experienced this first hand as a member of a Hotel Management team. You don’t have to hit someone to know they are real. All five senses we have as humans are based on touch. Even sight is just our eyes feeling the light that has bounced off of other objects and hits the nerves in our eyes. Looking at someone is feeling them so hitting them would only be the same thing only much more extreme. Unless you are in complete darkness you don’t have to touch someone to know they are there or real. Even then you can smell or hear them. If you make the mistake of sensing their sex it’s just that a mistake as we are all human and make mistakes a simple polite correction is all that’s needed if you are capable of compassion but if you get offended or upset at a persons mistake or words and don’t have any understanding for them then don’t expect them to be understanding of you or compassionate towards you because that makes you a hypocrite.
