But it does not happen to me everyday, or even often. Yet Im sure Id go crazy if it was happenning constantly (or if anything that would annoy me, or if I hated certain.. "thing" happened)

When you talk patriarchy vs feminism, historically speaking, men dominated society because women were married off to other tribes. And all the men in you community grew up together. So it makes sense that all business dealing were between these men who grew up together, and not through their wives. It also makes sense that anytime there was a disagreement in the home between a man and a woman, the men were believed. But we don't live in that type of patriarchal society anymore. We do however live in a very hierarchical society. When you go to work you don't do what you want, you do what the boss tells you to do, because you're dependent on your boss for resources (money). When a man advocates for traditional values, he's advocating for what? ... The reinstatement of a bygone era, where women are isolated in domestic life so that she is dependent on him for resources. Thus reinstating the patriarchy. Disclaimer, I'm not saying that patriarchal societies are bad, because they're patriarchal societies. Back in the day, in certain environments, they were necessary, and they may be necessary again. Shit they may still be necessary, in certain environments, today. But in urban, modern day north america, they're not. They're not because we have supermarkets, public transport, libraries, apartments and job opportunities. Traditional marriage isn't even necessary. Although, marriage is very advantageous, when your partner isn't a piece of shit. I'm not assuming that the guy speaking for patriarchy is a bad guy. He's probably, some degree of decent, but he's advocating for a return to a more patriarchal society, not to help any women out there, but because it's in his own best interest. That's why a lot of conservative people really like the church. Because it reinforces patriarchal authority. Because the book was written by people who lived in that type of society. And men, who espouse these beliefs have the excuse of calling upon a higher authority to validate their own authority.

@bohansenboh4 ай бұрын
@@LiShangfu-qe3hj That is a broad generalization, I know I've done the same, but I'd say it depends on the boss and the husband. Although generally, you're safer around your boss because they're more witnesses in the case of a physical dispute, generally, bosses can be just as maladaptive as anyone, and husbands can be sweet, loving, kind, funny and supportive. So your statement, while it might be true historically for some, and maybe you, isn't true for everyone, or the majority of people.

And my thoughts on this "rape culture" that seems to be so popular nowadays is truly insane. I'm 38 years old and I've never encountered anybody I was around that would see a pretty woman to say damn I'm going to get that one way or another. They either say hello and it goes further or they get shut down and leave it at that just like a normal person would. I've been born and raised in Southwest Detroit one of the hardest cities to live in and I've encountered all types. It's a crazy world we live in and yes some people are sick in the head and take advantage of others in different ways including sexually and that's horrible they should be punished to the full extent of the law and chastise by the society. But to believe that every man is a rapist potentially, is utter nonsense including believing that the children you are raising with the same values you have are potential rapist? If that's how you honestly feel then you are not doing enough to raise them with the wholesome values that they should be raised by. Good job woke culture, this world just keeps getting stranger and stranger. People are spoon fed a false reality since childhood and expect to find someone that's going to create that fairytale life for them but when that doesn't happen instead of working hard with the person you're with to make the dream come true you call it quits and search elsewhere trying to find that false reality.

i live in west detroit and i have to agree/disagree. I have met a couple guys who have been pushy and 2 of my friends have been r*ped BUT to say that it’s most men is just an absurd statement. I have walked by so many men in my life who have never went out of their way to make me uncomfortable. Actually at the last concert i was at, a guy was being very pushy towards me and a guy came in and acted like my boyfriend haha. I think there are so many amazing people and yes there are shitty ones that we can’t excuse and should punish, we shouldn’t ignore the good ones. There are good and respectful men and to go around saying things like what she said is so damaging to her child. When will these people realize it’s not a men vs women issue but a shitty person vs good person issue :/
@citizenoftheearth610 ай бұрын
Talk to the women in your life. Just bcs you didn't hear anyone say it, it doesn't mean it's not happening. Almost every woman I know has experienced either sexual harrassment or rape (some more than once). But they don't go chatting with guys about that.

When you hold a door for a woman you are not by any means discrediting her honor, if anything you are upbringing it by respecting them enough to give them that courtesy, I saw a woman get very mad at a man for doing this, and the man explained that he was just trying to be polite and he meant NO DISRESPECT by it. Women who get upset by this really need to learn that we are being a gentleman and honoring them by getting the door for them.

On a visit to New York I was approaching the entrance to a building. I could see in the reflection of a side window there were two women behind me. My parents raised me to be considerate to others and my dad emphasized treating women with the utmost respect, chivalry and courtesy. I opened the door and stepped to the side and one of these women went off on an expletive riddled rant. In short: She didn't need a man to open her doors or jars or compliment her to make her feel good. While she was ranting, about five more women entered the door I was still holding and said thank you. She finished and stood there so I went on and the door closed behind me. Immediately the door shook and then she was hollering for someone to open the door. I had opened the door with my credentials. The others that came in, I had seen earlier in the day. The woman with the "Karen" had a visitors badge. The woman had forgotten her key card. You can imagine the irony, embarrassment and the look I got when I ,a man, had to open the door for her. Her friend thanked me.

I consider myself a feminist but not a misandrist. Men are precious and vital in society; as are women. We built civilization together. It takes two to tango. Women in the west are equal to men. We have achieved our equality. Women elsewhere, not so much. Women have a responsibility to hold themselves accountable. To protect men as they protect us. To raise boys as well as we raise girls. To help men. To nurture those in our lives. Our femininity is our strength and if we lack femininity, we are no less women. I could go on. Irregardless, these arguments are perfect and I support wholeheartedly what he says. Jordan Peterson is also a fantastic person to reference for similar talking points.

It sounds like she has some past trauma and is starting to see similarities between her sons' actions and whoever gave her the trauma. It does seem kind of silly to post about it in the way she did - but in the end it could be a good thing, if only people tried to understand what was actually going on. If instead of ridiculing her, people told her to have open conversations with her sons and make sure that they are on the right path, are going to be safe to other people around them, then the post would end up being beneficial. Instead, people just like to attack any individual they do not agree with because they are protected by their computer screen. It is totally possible that that individual is actually dangerous to her sons and the people around her - but even in that case, shouldn't people be trying to help her? Or tell her to get/aid her in getting help? Attacking the individual seems to me like a ridiculous first reaction.
