Nicaragua has asked the International Court of Justice to order Germany to stop supplying Israel with weapons.
The case joins two others involving Israel already before the court.
Nicaragua's case is more broad, drawing on both the Genocide and Geneva conventions, and is notable for being the first to involve two countries not directly involved in the alleged atrocities.

As a German citizen and a lawyer, it is important for me to mention the following. For many citizens, Germany may have a historical responsibility towards Israel. On the other hand, Israel is clearly committing war crimes. However, the German government and many German media are mixing up these facts. The Chancellor should admit that Israel is committing war crimes and he holds the (in my opinion, absurd) opinion that Israel must be helped out of historical responsibility. But what Germany is doing is denying war crimes. The state-controlled media, especially ARD and ZDF, are spreading the absurdity without questioning or even beginning to discuss the content. Well, the next thing happening Must be a disussion of responsibilities in Germany‘s parliament here. Responsible for export permissions for weapons are Ministers Habeck( economy) and Baerbock ( Foreign affairs). And one thing that will also happen, that just by the threat of this case, the CEOs of the relevant producers will be aware, and eventually slow down production as the risk will be to high that exports come to an immediate halt as well as the payments for contracts that cannot be exported.
