Volume matters. Ralph Kiner, who was mentioned, is the perfect example. He was forced into retirement at age 32 due to injuries. Only 5,200 ABs, 6,200 PAs. (He still only had one season of fewer than 100 games, fwiw.) He’s in the Hall of Fame because he led his league in HR *SEVEN* times in 10 years, starting with his ROOKIE season, and including two 50-HR seasons-one more than Big G. The point is, the same (or a similar) number of ABs from Stanton in twice as many years is not the same caliber of player, regardless of the counting stats. All it says is that modern medicine was able to stave off a career-ending injury, where it couldn’t for Kiner back in 1955. Maybe we should put the doctors in the Hall of Fame?

It’s tough. 500 home runs with no steroids is absolutely a hall of fame career. The thing with Stanton though is he’ll have less than 2000 hits and he has a low WAR. That being said, 500 homers really is one of those hall of fame numbers so the voters have to cave.

The HOF is an absolute joke at this point. It was made for the best of the best but now they let everyone in and try to justify it with obscure stats. Look Alan Trammell has zero business being in the HOF. His numbers are average except for how many years he played. Just because you play for twenty years doesn't mean you're an elite player it just means you were relatively healthy. He's not the only one in the HOF that doesn't belong there's a bunch of guys. Scott Rolen, Harold Baines, and Edgar Martinez are a few off the top of my head. All good players but not best of the best.

I am a Braves fan and love Acuna bur I agree, it’s tainted. The bases are bigger, pitchers can only throw over twice and the pitch clock which adds to predictability. It’s like QBs of the past, Marino, Montana, Elway, Fouts, Moon, Kelly (not mentioning all the great before the generation listed) the QB protection rules, Oline rules have gotten tighter & WRs now are so protected. The dbacks are at such a disadvantage bcuz of rules.
