Is grammar important for learning French?

If I ever knew even basic English grammar, it had all been lost over time. So, in order to learn French, I had to start by understanding some of the grammar in my own native language, which really helped. Agree, it can be difficult not to go down the rabbit hole of concentrating too much on grammar.

Grammar is important for adult learners of any language. Babies have the advantage of listening for 2.5 years, beginning in the womb, developing as they learn the language and having a personal teacher/tutor/butt-wiper watching them and teaching them literally 24-7. And they still suck at grammar for the first 10 years of their lives.

That's so true! Babies have nothing else to do but learn and are taught by parents and school. I never got the argument of learning like a child in more "natural" conditions. The brain isn't the same nor are the circumstances. And they do still suck at grammar for long afterwards ! Thanks for the comment.

Ouias. Absolument. C'est essentiel ! Par exemple, comment peux tu apprendre francais conjugaison sans francaise grammaire. Aussi, comprendre non et un verbe avec adjectifs. Les verbes réfléchis en français sont des verbes qui sont conjugués avec un pronom réfléchi pour indiquer que le sujet exécute l'action du verbe sur lui-même. Apprendre francais grammaire m'a aidé à améliorer mon anglais aussi ! Excellent video, professeur. Merci !

To keep it short, your videos are too long. If they were shorter, they’d be perfect. I enjoy watching KZbin videos on various topics, but one of my favourites is about language learning tips-how to do it better, more easily, or more effectively. Unfortunately, most of these videos are either repetitive or full of useless content. Personally, I connect with other learners, whether Spanish speakers learning English or French, or vice versa. One thing they all have in common is the desire to learn with minimal effort. This, I believe, is a major mistake. While there might be geniuses who can master a subject in no time-or so they claim-for most of us, that’s simply not realistic. I share many of your opinions and also agree with Adam David Broughton, the author of How to English: 31 Days to Be an Independent Learner.

Thanks for the comment! I'm very sure that the fast learners you see on youtube are people who understand exactly what they are looking for: the basics of grammar etc. they already have a map in mind and know which answers they are looking for. I agree that most tips on how to learn are useless. Such amazing tips never reached the ears of any of my teachers somehow!
