A few months ago I donated to the H3 livestream asking Dan to go vegan because dairy cows and egg-laying hens need liberation too. I think it’s a step in the right direction that Ethan is minimizing his meat intake. Sure it’s not perfection, but it’s progress nonetheless. And it’s great he’s sharing his empathy for them on his platform, which is very big. He could be anti-vegan and go to the more Joe Rogan approach (which is so unhelpful) instead he’s showing signs of compassion and understanding the health reasons. So again, I think it’s huge progress and I’m sure eventually he will make the big connection. Everyone is on their own journey 🤍

I find myself caring way less about going vegan these days because what vegans seem to not understand is that death is inherent to life and sustainence. Putting animals in a hierarchy based on intelligence and cuteness is clearly arbitrary. Why arent we extending the same considerations to plants when we destroy, exploit, and harm them? We know that plants have complex communication systems. The focus should be less on this general concept of harming and killing lifeforms and more on moving away from commoditized farming because of how it affects the environment.
@JordanDecay11 ай бұрын
Plants aren't sentient, and don't feel pain. Even if I'm wrong, it would still be an argument in favour of veganism. What do you think the 70-80 billion land animals are fed? Crops. If we didn't breed these animals into existence and just grew crops for the 8 billion humans, we would harvest less plants and destroy less habitats to grow those plants and house these animals. Death being an inherent part of life doesn't justify us to go around causing harm and killing whoever we want.
@HuckleberryHim11 ай бұрын

I do respect it even if it is just the first step, not exactly a common thing to see among big YT personalities

What if 'humanly farmed' animals died of old age or natural causes? You'd still be consuming the flesh of an animal but would people still object to this in theory?
@ShardstapoRotmg11 ай бұрын
An interesting question, it definitely depends on the vegan you ask but I'm pretty sure most of us still wouldn't eat the animal. For me it would be about health at that point, and I also still am disgusted by eating meat.
@roseofthetree11 ай бұрын
That would be more ethical because their rights to live wouldnt have been taken away from them by some person that just wants a tasty piece of meat. Most vegans would not eat this meat though because we do not view animals as commodities or made for us to eat. We view them as individuals, not food, so it would be weird for us to eat them. Viewing animals as food and not individuals is what led us to the world we have now, with mass farming and complete disregard of animal rights

Would you eat an animal that not only it's not youthful anymore, but probably has no vitality left in his body? Is that appealing?
@IIIII...11 ай бұрын
