Being Indian in which most of our foods are either vegan or easily made vegan by swapping one non essential ingredient. It seems most our cultural dishes aren't good meals to westerners and instead a happy meal and some fries constitutes a "good meal". I never got when gourmet food was a dead animal , cooked in some animal fat with a piece of broccoli ontop whilst the Vietnamese , Indian , Thai and other cultural dishes used herbs, seeds , spices and grains like they're concocting a potion and it'll only cost you 1/5 the price.
