Hi! Jewish person here. A golem (גולם) is specifically a man made from clay, brought to life by recitation of mystical names of God. The most famous one was, according to legend, made by the mystic and rabbi, Maharal of Prague in the 1600s. Not sure what the "made of frogs" thing is supposed to be. My guess is some kind of run-of-the-mill Sheyd (demon)? Which are usually described as having wings and bird feet, but demonology in Judaism is thousands of years old so we can get creative with it. One possible connection is the 2nd Plague of Passover, where frogs rain down onto Egypt. ...except some rabbis argue it was one giant frog that ran around like a giant kaiju, terrorizing everything. Thanks for attending my TEDx Talk.

I think the monstrified humans going on a rampage makes sense. They acknowledge that the Gray Spell doesn't turn the monsters into _actual_ humans, just parodies of what Halloweentownies think humans are like. So I assume the other spell is the reverse of that, turning people into monsters who want to kill you.

It's funny how outwardly reluctant Dylan is about magic, even in this movie, yet he clearly had witch training between movies. Like regardless of the movie taking place 1 or 3 years after the first, he had to have reached or surpassed 13 years of age by this one, and is shown to still have his powers. So he chose not to let himself become fully human despite his desire for normalcy? I guess everyone needs something to fall back on, like getting a minor degree at university.

7:48 Hello! I am Jewish and I can safely say you can ABSOLUTELY not call a bunch of frogs a golem. A golem has to be made out of clay and usually has the Hebrew word EMET (truth) written on its head to power it. I have absolutely no idea where this movie thought golems being related to frogs came from.

Hey guys, have a grand old Hallowe'en. I know this is an important event on the North American calendar, so I hope you have a good one. Thank you for another year of chuckles. Bloody lovely. Cheers. Noting your mention of a long Hallowe'en in the film, you got me thinking; Over here, Hallowe'en isn't really a thing. Instead we start our Samhain/Sauin celebrations on the first of November. Non-stop parties, fancy dress costumes and lots of booze. The parties come to an end on 5 November, in time for Bonfire Night, Huzzah! Burning effigies is daft, but it's traditional. Maybe your characters were not Celebrating Hallowe'en, but it was Samhain all along? Wouldn't that make the title false advertising? Now, that would be truly evil. Best wishes.

Halloweentown 2 remains my favorite in the franchise. There’s just something about 2 movies. The Mummy Returns 2. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 2. … A Bug’s Life 2. I don’t know. All the characters are established and the second tends to be super adventurous. And I felt that with this one. I got a tad razzled up when one review called it the worst of the four. But this one really puts it into proper perspective. Amidst the plot conveniences and writer’s room our-Chinese-food-ran-out-so-let’s-get-this-ending-ended ending dilemma. Who knew there was so many unique tidbits connected to the production. The ACTUAL Hocus Pocus costumes!? Faar outtt. Y’all NEED to review Hocus Pocus 2. One 2 that was far from my favorite 2.

I hate to actually you guys but the reason the humans flip out when they're turned into their costumes is because the spell Cal casts is meant to turn the monsters into what they think humans are like (boring, lifeless, no personality clean grays) and turn the humans into what THEY THINK monsters are like (evil, scary, on the attack and trying to kill them). Sorry I just remember this movie a lot too and that bit is explained albeit fast.

Despite Halloweentown 1 being the better movie, through much of my 2000s kid Hallow-youth, this and the third one is what would play all the time and I hated it. The 3rd one isn't as good and this one actually scared me as a kid because of the bit where the mom turns into a monster and chases Sophie. That was horrifying- the idea of your parent putting being turned into a hostile monster who's chasing you. It followed me into my nightmares.

I just couldn’t get into this one as much as the others. I know that it’s probably better than Halloweentown High at least, but I still enjoyed that one more. And the first and the fourth are the ones I really loved. But I just didn’t like the second movie very much. Someone I was talking to once was in disbelief that I could like Halloweentown High more than this one, and said “Maybe you just didn’t like darker and scarier stories when it came out”. But I was way too old to find this movie remotely dark or scary when it premiered, I was already watching actual horror movies at this point in my life, so that theory makes no sense. I don’t get why that person felt the need to come up with theories as to why I would feel the way I felt anyways, instead of just accepting that some people don’t like a movie they do, and/or like a movie they don’t. And that people have different opinions in general, and not all of them have to “make sense” to them, nor should anyone have to justify their opinions on works of fiction to them. But I digress. This interaction was just another example to me of how much people love Halloweentown 2, and why I feel like the odd one out for not jiving with it. I’d still watch it without complaint if someone put it on at a party or sleepover though, I don’t vigorously hate it or anything. I just don’t really like it, and will skip it when I’m watching the Halloweentown movies on my own time.
