This episode is L&M done right, showing how the alien world impacts otherwise normal people and changes their lives, but still being focused on them and not the aliens. It is, at its heart, a story about humanity and while the driving force of the story is how an alien eye changed this guys life beyond what most people could imagine, it’s Eugene’s struggles with loneliness, self-worth and meaning that actually makes his character and story so memorable.

I do think this story is good, personally subjectively i prefer L+M waaaaaaay more. The focus on Jackie’s perspective and Linda’s story prior to absorbaloff appearing was great.

Love and monsters is definitely better, it’s not confusing like this one, it expands Jackie’s character, AND it’s monster was made by a sick kid who got to see his creation in a beloved show!

Pretty sure "Happy cook" is a parody of the real world "Little chef" fast food chain that was around in the 2000s here in the UK, although they went out of bussness many years ago and shut down

As someone who actually lives in Wales (not Cardiff where Torchwood is set but fairly close to it), good effort trying to pronounce the town of Aberystwyth! The trick is to imagine you're saying ABBA (like the band), then say 'wrist', then pronounce 'with' as if it rhymed with 'Smith', then say all three one after another. Once you've mastered it, put 'bloody' before it, then finish it with 'man', and congrats! You're basically Welsh at that point 😅

Just had my mind blown looking at the US McDonalds menu and seeing that thick shakes arent on the menu, always assumed they were on the UK menu because they were a American staple, banana flavoured or otherwise.

This is love and monsters done right. The consequences , seeing how things are. The family effected sure. Enjoyed this episode. The blog part of L&M is good but the getting attention of Torchwood, to other aspects are just so much better then in DW. Understanding maybe or just so focused on the logic the why, he is into maths after all as little as there is to go off of his character. Detective mode besides the emotional side. What people notice or care about. They move on. Say whatever behind their back. Expecting perfection or thr msot of people. Oh the eye price right, the bot or whatever jumped sum. Ah the inflated prices, ebay is a magical place. XD A ghost looking back on what happened. Unfinished business. What a look at life. Banana, Lime, Apple, whatever the case. Banana has it's moments in some drinks. Saving Gwen I mean the unfinished business? Or wish fulfillment no idea. Is odd. The eye is out of him. I guess his leftover state then? Yeah some episodes with different guest .ain character focus are pretty good from time to time. Uh a watch or a computer with the clock visible? Not always daylight. Whatever people see of clocks/computers/feel like of being tired when it space stations as well. XD Ah the shoes. Details and not showing the whole picture. The eye is one thing but the concepts/themes are well executed. Later S3 and S4 of DW episodes I find have good to eh parallels of their concepts and some parts are stronger then ofhers. Regardless of the monster in L&M or Jackie parts, main Elton parts this episode of Torchwood is so much better at the same concept. Same as how I think other episodes have parallels and have different angles that are better right after each other in Doctor who.

Much like “Love and Monsters”, seems there’s only two types of reactions to this- people either say it’s the worst episode of the show or that, while not top tier, it’s very strongly above average.
