Some people think hell isn't a real place and is just a scare tactic used to manipulate people into obeying God. In this video, Costi Hinn addresses the uncomfortable doctrine of hell and clears up common misconceptions and blasphemous views of the all too real place of suffering and separation from God.

12 times in the NT and Jesus spoke of it 11 times “hell” it’s as real as the seat we sit on. This is literally what was said at our Sunday service. Very convicted sermon and understanding of our importance to evangelize when we see it in the view of scripture as it has revealed itself.

Thank you for this. Many in the church today lately have been trying really hard to water down the idea of hell. They often say it'll just be a place that's miserable or that hell will be a place where you'll constantly covet after your most desirous temptations, but you'll never get them or you'll never be satisfied. I don't see anywhere in the bible where that is taught. Hell is pretty straightforward and no one should ever want to go there much less spend eternity there.

Costi.. the book or Revelations is a book of symbols and should not be interpreted literally. Regarding the Book of Revelation - Rev 1:1 "... He sent and SIGNIFIED it by His angel" SIGNIFY. The lake of fire is symbolic, as is 'the woman in the wilderness sitting on a scarlet beast with seven heads and ten horns' etc etc (Rev 17:2) Not literal. Also Jesus NEVER used the word 'hell' Translators put words in His mouth. Jesus DID use the word 'Gehenna' which is a garbage dump outside Jerusalem TO THIS VERY DAY. Ironically, the place that Jesus was referring to (Gehenna) was built on top of a place where the Israelites BURNED THEIR children in fire to MOLECH. IT WAS SO ABHORRENT TO GOD THAT HE CURSED THE GROUND ON WHICH SUCH AN ABOMINABLE ACT WAS COMMITTED. Many now insist that God will do to the vast majority of humanity what He Himself declared as an abomination that never entered His mind (Jer 32:35).. incredible

I strongly disagree and here’s why. Revelation is mostly apocalyptic symbolism. Not to be taken literally. The other accounts in the gospel are also allegorical stories, not to be taken literally. Hell is a separation from God forever into eternal destruction, never to be brought back again. Not a forever dungeon of torture. ONLY THOSE SAVED THROUGH CHRIST HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. It’s pretty simple. Step away from the dogma and look at every instance of hell, hades, Tartarus, and you’ll see it too.

Revelation may be mostly symbolic, but Jesus had a real story in with His parables. You know it's real because there's a name in it, which parables do not have. The story of Lazarus and the rich man. Lazarus was brought to paradise, and the rich man was in torment. He begged for Lazarus to drop water on his tongue, not even asking for a whole glass of water. Minor relief would have been a big deal to him! And the fact that his name is forgotten is a big deal too. I noticed studying the old testament that, while it's hard to read so many names, God names all the names of His children, but the wicked ones are just unimportant. He mentions them only if they're important to the story (Cain killed Abel, Lemach married two wives, etc). If there wasn't a hell, Jesus would not have told that story. He would have talked about how Lazarus was treated, but now the rich man is gone, but Lazarus isn't. That's not what Jesus said, though.

I don't think Costi actually spoke from either of eternal torment or from annihilationism doctrine. As I think he acknowledges that as soon as you come down on one of them way or another. You are then applying subjectivity to the matter at hand to which the Bible remains silent on. From what I heard from this one, he tried very hard to stay clear of either of them and just stated that hell was real. Probably the best answer on this side to let people come to their own conclusions relating to how it impacts them relating to their unsaved loved one's who've since died.

And yet you take every passage about heaven literally? EVERYBODY will spend eternity somewhere including those who go to hell. Matthew 25:46 makes that very clear: Both believers AND unbelievers have an eternal fate. The idea that an unbeliever gets fully annihilated after death comes from a false doctrine called Annihilationism. Annihilationism is the belief that unbelievers will not experience an eternity of suffering in hell, but will instead be “extinguished” after death. For many, annihilationism is an attractive belief because of the awfulness of the idea of people spending eternity in hell. While there are some passages that seem to argue for annihilationism, a comprehensive look at what the Bible says about the destiny of the wicked reveals the fact that punishment in hell is eternal. A belief in annihilationism results from a misunderstanding of one or more of the following doctrines: 1) the consequences of sin, 2) the justice of God, 3) the nature of hell.

@@Samuelh777Mathew 10:28. Soul & body are destroyed. The word eternity is Aiónios, the root word being aion or “age”, not a specific amount of time. Debate about this exact word has been ongoing. This argument is as old as Christianity. If you choose to follow a God that gives eternal life to unrepentant wicked people just to torture them forever and ever, that’s your prerogative. The Jesus in my Bible isn’t like that. He is forgiving and gracious and loving. Satan is the one who wants to hurt us as much as possible. You follow a doctrine of demons

@@Belliferous You are correct that the Greek word aionion, which is usually translated “eternal,” does not by definition mean “eternal.” It specifically refers to an “age” or “eon,” a specific period of time. However, it is clear that in the New Testament, aionion is sometimes used to refer to an eternal length of time. Revelation 20:10 speaks of Satan, the beast, and the false prophet being cast into the lake of fire and being tormented “day and night forever and ever.” It is clear that these three are not “extinguished” by being cast into the lake of fire. Why would the fate of the unsaved be any different (Revelation 20:14-15)? One evidence for the eternality of hell is Matthew 25:46, “Then they [the unsaved] will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” In this verse, the same Greek word is used to refer to the destiny of the wicked and the righteous. If the wicked are only tormented for an “age,” then the righteous will only experience life in heaven for an “age.” If believers will be in heaven forever, unbelievers will be in hell forever. Annihilationism comes from an extremely low view of your sin and Gods infinite Holiness. I choose to believe the clear teaching of the bible.
