The problem is strong premiums are generally played by experienced players while techtree ships are just for grind. So it is hard to decide whether they are op or not. Make no mistake, Hyuga, cali or warspite are powerful ships. But they are generally in good hands.

As you said Hyūga is not OP, it is an easy money maker like California, Arizona, and others more. But you can citadel the ship really easily (depending on RNG 😢), and yes the main attraction to get the ship is the accuracy and long range, just that. In my opinion California and Warspite are stronger vessels compared to Hyūga, even some free ships like Tennessee are that accurate. That's why I find tier V more fun, and thank God WG nerfed the Ark Royal who was actually broken.

I play cruisers primarily and the Hyuga is a scarier ship than any of the others you mentioned. To tick off it’s advantages: 1. Same number of guns as Arizona and California. 2. Faster reload than either. 3. Better accuracy than California, same as Arizona. 4. Better maneuverability. 5. Highest health among T5 battleships 6. Main battery reload booster. I lean toward saying it’s overpowered. War gaming has talked about they view ships and one metric they use is how much does it improve the player’s stats. If you have a 50% winrate in one ship and a 55% winrate in a comparable ship, the second ship is likely too strong. I would bet that Hyuga improves the stats of players in this way-poor players do better when they take Hyuga out instead of New Mexico or Fuso. And, again, from the perspective of a cruiser, it’s a harder ship to beat than other T5 battleships. Cruisers can’t citadel it the way other BBs might be able to. It’s more than just accuracy and range, the ship has a lot going for it.

@@notthatproud7453 I believe you got a point when you say you are a CC main, but even evading or hiding from enemy salvos, I find California's hits harder than Hyūga's. Nonetheless it's true, when you are in a cruiser and you are caught by a Hyūga, well it's just a matter of time, but not just Hyūga other ships like Tennessee and now Repulse can whipe CCs quite easy. That's why I always sail with company when I'm using a CC trying to set fires on battleships, depending on the ship but the only solution is just dodge or hide and HE spamming. But from my perspective Hyūga is not that difficult to kill, depending on the team though. I have killed various Hyūgas using different ships, and talking about stats depends a lot on the game. I have the Hyūga, which is a good ship, but even with all her guns and stuff and getting tons of good games you can get a 50 % to 57 % win rate because this game is just about team play and ridiculous RNG. I remember some Krakens using this vessel, and even getting Krakens many games still being lost.

Hyuga for me. Never had a ship get so many dev strikes.. if you’re broadside, it’s lights-out instantly and often.. can’t say that about many ships in the entire game.. the amount of gun with that much accuracy is a lethal combo

Fuso is the best tech tree BB at t5 imo. Ergo, an upgraded Fuso with MBRB + better accuracy = dominant as fuck. Sorry to sound like the architect of the Matrix..

Ive got 100 battles down In Hyuga. For that teir its a beast no doubt. When you in that ship there is no ship you have to fear out there. Also the things it comes with is crazy it’s already powerful and has 2 reloads my vanguard teir 7 only gets 1 reload. I convinced my friend to buy one also. Your gonna make good coin and have fun in that ship. It does pack a punch

To be overpowered a ship has to have a combination of strong advantages, when compared to its competitors, while not sacrificing something of value in order to receive these advantages! Hyuga while not being able to overmatch has the armor to bounce 406s so the overmatch argument is null and voids seeing as it’s disadvantage can’t effectively be used against it! Now you essentially get nothing but benefits that vastly out perform its BB brothers such as alpha strike, the accuracy to take advantage of the alpha strike and the MBRB to be extra spicy! 3 distinct advantages to go along with probably the best armor scheme at the tier I think it’s safe to say Hyuga meets the criteria for being too spicy thus overpowered

I have this ship and battled against it. It's fine. I don't suspect it's over-powered at all. It's a very strong ship, just like Warspite. But it can be destroyed like any other ship out there. Hipper devoted a video about this and in another video suggested that battleships across the board need a nerf as well. I did not remotely agree with either position as I suspected some bias in his presentation. What I like about Xarkun's channel, especially when he goes about his reviews, is that he's excellent regarding his critical thinking presentation. Like the green-blooded vulcan I suspect he is...Xarkun is holistic by nature , and very much a skeptic as a thinker. He's not one to embrace hyperbole. He will take things apart and analyze details, and present the most important support tool of them all...demonstrable evidence to support a claim. That's exactly how I think and break things down as well. Do I always agree with him? No. But he's mostly spot-on accept when it involves the Leone. That debate can only be resolved with a lightsaber duel between him and me, but I digress...for now. This video has proven that Hyuga is fine, just as it is. All ships perceived as too strong, in my opinion, are balanced out by a player base fraught with potatoes who will sabotage the Hyuga or any "OP" ship in the game for your pleasure.

Hyuga eclipses Fuso, Nagato, Mutsu by miles. It has much better armor protection (additional 32mm Torp blister that also acts as spaced armor), guns feel even more accurate than Fuso as well and Hyuga also enjoys better firing angles than Fuso. The reload booster is absolutely unnecessary and makes it just a powerhouse.

Hyuga is NOT a Fuso. Its an Ise class Battleship. Fuso is an earlier ship class. Ise and Hyuga were the ships that directly succeeded Fuso in the Japanese fleet and directly improved upon the experience learned from Fuso and Yamashiro. Especially the armor

Hyuga is the most overpowered BB at tier 5, its a tier 6 at tier 5 it is immune to 152mm he apart from the superstructure it has way better accuracy than foso, it is significantly harder to citadel compared to fuso compared to other reload boost BB like colingwood and strassbourg hyuga has more hp better armor more guns and a spotter plane, the only bad thing about hyuga is the AA but colingwood and strassbourg have scimilar AA and face tier 7 CVs.

I’ve added some comments in response to other people. Now that I’ve watched the video, I just want to supplement those a bit by saying that you’re measuring it’s power by imagining it’s ability to fight other battleships without considering it’s interaction with cruisers and destroyers. T5 battleships break out into a few specialities. Mutsu and WV are battleship killers. California is an AA monster. AZ is great at smacking cruisers. It’s a dev strike machine. And then there is Hyuga, which does the same thing as AZ, but with an MBRB and other advantages. For cruisers, it is absolutely the most dangerous battleship at the tier. If you’re caught in the open by a Hyuga, you’re kind of boned. There aren’t a lot of options for dealing with it. The MBRB also makes it stronger against DDs for the same reason. So, I think it’s overpowered. It is not stupidly fucking broken in the way Ark Royal and Weimar were. I’m ok with them not changing it. It’s just that if one is in my game, it’s a real problem.

Yup I agree it's very good against cruisers. Really good infact as it doesn't seem to overpen as much but against other BBs of the same tier it's lower cal guns balance it out.

Hyuga is my favorite tier V. I got up tiered into a T7 lobby with Hyuga one time and I was still able to dish out 100,000 damage.

If you shoot it center broadside not much will happen. You have to shoot it near the stern, which is easier said than done.

It’s no more OP than Fuso is, IF you know what you’re doing. Does have that reload booster though. Pound for pound, Andrea doria is waaaaay nastier. The the most krakens of any of the 200+ ships I have, AND it holds the record for most kills I’ve ever gotten: 8.

Is a good, well-informed player OP? The ship itself is good and has features that a good player can exploit to make it truly great. However, if the player is a duffer it won't matter and Hyuga will suffer from the usual problems IJN dreadnaughts have. The ship shoots better than most IJN BBs, but you still have 14" guns so no overmatch. So. Can you aim? Can you angle? If the answer is 'yes', then you can play to crush. If the answer is 'no' or 'what's angling?', then you're just another bag of xp waiting to be harvested.

But that is how WG actually measures whether a boat is too strong-they look at how it performs in the hands of different players. Ships that are overpowered make bad players better. Given it’s advantages, I would guess that Hyuga improves the stats of a lot of players. And you’re wrong about overmatch. Fourteen inch guns overmatch every cruiser it faces except Charlemagne and New Orleans, both of which are T6. Sure, it doesn’t overmatch battleships, but that’s not only thing ships do.

hello mr. xarkun she is forgiving but not to much. she can hit hard but her dispersion is not in every salvo greatt. so you need a good leveld captain from 12+ and the insperetions all so and if you have experians than is the hyuga a brutal ship. otherwise it s strong but in my oppinion not op.

Hyuga is very good and is one of, if not the best, T5 BB in the game. It's not OP, it's just good at punishing players who make mistakes against it. If I hit you sailing broadside and in 8 seconds, you refuse to adjust your course in any way, that's not the Hyuga's fault.

@notthatproud7453 Sailing broadside is a mistake. If you're hit sailing broadside and manage to survive, sure, he'll be able to fire again much faster, but you still have ample time to start turning in or out to avoid getting deleted. If the Hyuga had the reload booster AND overmatch potential, then yes, it would be OP. It's the ones who continue to sail broadside after getting hit hard by the Hyuga and make no adjustment that get punished the most.

@@ehacker39 Sailing broadside can be a mistake, but not always. Depends on what else is happening in the game. Maybe you're trying to get to an island for cover. Maybe you're angled to a different enemy ship. But, look, you're only considering a 1 v. 1 fight against other BBs. There are cruisers and destroyers too, and Hyuga is more dangerous to them than any other battleship at the tier. If I'm in a cruiser in open water, and a Hyuga targets me, I can dodge one salvo, but then I have to deal with another almost immediately. Overall, this makes Hyuga stronger than other battleships at the tier.

Hyūga is not overpowered, it is strong, but not overpowered. Is Hyūga a Fuso? Yes and no. Fuso and Ise are more comparable. The original Ise design was quite similar to Fuso's, but since Ise came later, designers could make changes to improve her. In that sense, Ise was better than Fuso. In the 1930's, both classes were modernized, but Ise (for whatever reason) was given a more lavish treatment.

It’s not a OP ship. It’s one of the few “non-torp” options to combat the California and the West Virginia. Not to mention the Guilin Cesar’s and the Andrea Doria (both of which I have more krakens with than any other bb). It’s not a OP ship and does not need nerfed. I highly dislike the player base constantly complaining. “It’s OP! It’s needs nerfed! It’s not fair!” Other than carriers, there really is not OP ships. It’s more about the player base being dum and turning broadside in front of a BB or DD. I’m not gonna go into how most the player base is also slightly retarded in thinking they can turn broadside at start of match and sail across middle of map and thinks that’s okay. They need ships like this at low tier to teach them that’s not okay. They need to learn this before they get a legendary ship. Otherwise, they want half the legendary ships nerfed. No to OP. Bring back accurate “bully” ships!
