She will play with more freedom this year. She already won RG and 4 other titles and has a great point advantage against the field. Last year Aryna was chasing her so the pressure was high. I'm not saying she will win this year but I wouldn't be surprised if she did.

100% she is a contender. The variation between surfaces is not what it used to be. It is much smaller, because frames and strings advanced so much that their influence on the game covers larger share. At the same time the habit of winning that Iga possesses might just carry her through.

Perfectly-said in 1:10. The phenom that Iga has become makes her a genuine contender on any surface. Period!

1ga has the best sharp angles on court since Serena off both wings. Her serve has improved incredibly. She's more comfortable at net (especially with drive volleys, again similar to Serena). She is definitely a threat! But it will all depend on the draw, as always.. 🌙

Iga will win Wimbledon if she believes she can win it and goes full force without fear. She needs to embrace the grass, she won USO and Miami they are very fast hard, also made AO SF in 2022 (AO is faster than Wimbledon since a few years according to data)
@al1976-v7m4 ай бұрын
the reason grass does not fit Iga is less the speed but more the low bounce and the way the ball skids off the surface. it doesn't work well with her topspin game. But if she can adapt her game a little bit, use more slice, move up to the net more, she could be a contender.

Iga has improved her service very much compared to last year.It’s a pity only that she almost at all does not run to the net which is very important in the game on grass.I am sure that Iga will repeat the same thing this year or even the semi-final. For winning the whole tournament is probably a little too early for her.

It depends on several factors! For starters she has to learn to deal with all those slavic power hitters, like several tricky czech or russian players, additionally she most likely will have to watch out for Osaka now as well as an added challenge for her progress on grass! Second she has to develop effective countermeasures against big serves, which is especially effective here on fast grass (especially during first week of the Wimbledon, when grass is still extra fast and slippery and not trotten yet, like during QF, SF stages of the event!)! Her third problem is that she hasn't yet learned how to properly control pace of the rally on grass, since the pace usually heavily depends on technical shots such as slices, drop shots, lobs and stuff like that, not to mention that effectivness of tops spins are heavily decreased here as well, which is one of the reasons players like Swiatek win so much on clay! So she should learn how to hit powerful flat shots that land low over the net without risking UEs, that's a tough one, but is a requirement if she wanna be successful here against players like Sabalenka, Rybakina, Osaka, Ostapenko, Vondrousova, Kalinskaya, Koudermetova, Kasatkina, Alexandrova or Krejcikova! These are the ones that she would naturally need to avoid in the draw until at least she learns how to deal with them! And to top it all of she needs to have developed plan "B" for situations when she gets cornered by powerful groundstroke (especially from the right wing) and learn how to deal with wrong foot groundstrokes (this is her biggest vulnerability at this point still, even to higher degree than her serve, which admittedly got significant boost as of lately, but this boost alone won't be enough for the hopes to grab championships here! She needs large array of weapons and backup lans in the strategy, because she is going to face all of that adversity regardless of her improved serves!)

If you want my opinion on whether she has all that as early as at this point of her career? My opinion is - no she doesn't yet...so if you'd ask me if she will go all the way and win the title this season already, i'm going to give you my skeptical answer, but if you'd ask me if she has the potential to grab Wimbledon in the future, then the answer is yes - she has the potential to do that! However currently at this point, it's hard to see her raising plate over her head...she'll require many adjustments made to her techniques imho! Maybe i'm wrong (i would only love to be, since i'm one of her loyal supporters, but also one of her biggest critics as well at the same time!) I do see however the possibility of her winning USO this year again though!

As for Wimbledon 2024 women, I wouldn't count out Paolini, who can reach the semifinals and even the final. Depends on her ladder. For every player who will meet Iga at this year's Wimbledon, it will be Dead End, no turn around. A street you can't leave without failure.

Screamalenka had an injury at Berlin. Rybakina and Jabeur as well. Gauff went to semis and lost a very tight match. Coco has a better chance than Iga who practiced first on artificial grass and just recently real grass. I'm not feeling it.
