Sad that we can’t laugh at ourselves and feelings get hurt so easy. Keep speaking the truth Mr. Pearl👍🏻

If being overweight is from a lack of discipline its a sin to be undisciplined. But if its from health conditions or thyroid its not a sin. I'd say its just as sinful and disrespectful to find humor in another person's struggle.

I wonder how many doctors will inform their patients with those antidepressants comes an uncontrollable appetite; hungry all the time. Makes me wonder how much obesity is a result of these prescriptions be used.

I think sometimes God just makes us pay for our sins against the Holy Spirit. He created nature, nature of gluttony is that your health will suffer physically and mentally, lusting and having premarital sex, you have a high chance of STDs, as well as many other examples. I don’t think its a sin to be obese and I’m not married to any speculation I just mentioned, but its something I think about. How having a sinful lifestyle can cause alot of suffering naturally.

Great answer. I bet a lot of people will rethink if they are actually lying to themselves. I do think also a lot of people just don't realize what proper portion size is. Americans, especially, are taught to be gluttons through enormous portion sizes everywhere they go. You can generally find free information online with visual references on what true portion sizes are and look like. I have found that you can eat most things if you eat them in moderation. Then if you do happen to eat too much, such as at a special event, do additional exercise to counter it. If you are overwhelmingly overweight, getting started is the hardest part but once you get into new habits it gets easier and as you lose weight, you get more energy and feel more motivated to continue. I am a retired personal trainer so this is just what I have encountered. I also lost a ton of weight myself after years of extreme IV steroid treatments for MS. Since I retired and I got really seriously ill and could no longer exercise I gained weight again. A ton of my medications cause weight gain. So frustrating. So I have to work even harder to get it back off. What I do now is fit in whatever physical activity I can. Even if you are in a wheelchair, you can often lift weights with your arms. Fit stuff in activity in little easy to do sections throughout the day if doing a full 30 minutes or so is too hard at first. For example, while you are cooking and you have to weight, let's say, 10 minutes for the next step in your cooking, do leg lifts or squats. Then later in the day, while your toddler is playing on the floor, do crunches next to them at their level. They will enjoy seeing you up close and you will squeeze in another 10 minutes of muscle strengthening. Just FYI, I am dying of a terminal illness now and I am still determined that I am going to lose weight and finish the race making an effort. It helps nothing to beat ourselves up over what has already been done but what we can do is make an effort now. So if I can do it, as sick as I am, anyone can do it. Let's do this brothers and sisters >:D I hope this helps someone out there. God bless.

there are a lot of people in the USA who have jacked up metabolisms from the processed garbage they sell in stores, lucky for me I learned being 260lbs when I was 13 years old. There are many people who are obese now that dont eat a lot or badly but have thyroid and other issues from the cheap "food" pushed by the world.

i wondered why i was shown healthy food and exercise in a dream a few times ,its hard with health conditions ,i have severe spinal arthritis and on bets blockers ,and i can tell you i have severe hormone problems with my change ,so it is harder for WOMEN ,most gain weight from previous pregnancy ,some people do eat more and stay tiny,my DAD was skinny ,he ate well ,always having cakes and sweets, yet us children sometimes had not much ,i was starved as a baby no milk for a little while ,and our photos when we were about six to eight year old in a swimming costume,we had thin arms and legs and a bloated tummy,we lived in ENGLAND not Africa .

Thank you. The Lord has been telling me to work out and get fit but…I haven’t moved fast enough. He then sent my brother to start asking about my weight (some shame) and continuously send me messages to work out (in a kind way). This morning the Lord led me to lol up obesity as sin. He just showed me through your wisdom that it is my lack of discipline that is the sin. I will start working on it today. Thank you and praise be to God Almighty!

im not shure if it is a lack of discipline. the bible sais you should fast. but what do you eat? when kain gave to god the veggies and aber gave to god the meat. you have to start cut out all the bread cerials pasta sugar and stick to a meat based diet. like this you will be able to fast very easy.

my sister is morbidly obese from soda and fast food. it's all she eats or drinks- endocrine disruption is very bad- youre endocrine system basically controls everything from hunger to arousal. i try to inspire my family by working out and eating better and showing them all the WONDERFUL benefits it gave me- I always struggled with concentration and schoolwork as a kid- it was the CORN SYRUP in all the cereals- back then cereals all had corn syrup. I gave up sugar, basically. I lost like 80 lbs. now my cognitive function has increased, my ability to think and speak rapidly has also been increased, and I can hold focus better. but sadly she's just too hooked.. i hoped them seeing my enhancement would inspire them, but they frustratingly acted jealous and spiteful. "How come YOU get to improve!?" If only these people would stop chasing pleasure, the brain pattern of high fructose corn syrup addicts is identical to that of a meth or crack addict's.

Obesity is about discipline, education on nutrition, and hormonal. Certain foods simulate the fat storing hormone insulin. So being educated on what foods to eat will keep you healthy. Also practice fasting and praying

Mr. Pearl, your joking and mocking of obese people is highly inappropriate. As a woman who struggles with obesity, not only did I find your commentary unhelpful when I was seeking help, but your mocking was very hurtful. Do people make fun of your sin struggles? I suggest you re-do or delete this video.

He is laughing at the intention of the question. Supposing the person asking the question is asking in a way to be accusing another or justifying oneself. I am sure in all his years of counseling he has become aware of the intentions of questioning in a particular manner. I can tell the difference from an accusation and an honest curiosity from my kids, it's how it was asked. His answer, an undisciplined life is a sin, whether fat or thin, obesity is a symptom, not the causation of a sin.

For your consideration, maybe some become obese because of maladaptive coping mechanisms. If someone doesn't know how to regulate their emotions, get their needs met in relationship and use food and overeat to cope, what is the sin here? The mark missed is overeating and the consequence is unhealthy weight. It's to overcompensate for unmet needs; emotional, spiritual and relational. It seeks pleasure in food to numb the former pains and deprivations. If someone didn't learn how to make friends or be interesting enough to the opposite sex, they may look to food for comfort, deceptive as that is. What does shaming or guilt tripping an obese person achieve? If the underlying root cause is lack of skill in relationship then that's the source of the problem. Why didn't this person learn how to get their needs met in a healthy way? If it's a consequence of upbringing, how much can you blame them?
