Being a good help meet starts long before marriage. It is a mindset, a learned habit, a way of life established as a young unmarried girl-or at least thats the way it should be.
Nearly every wife will confess that the first year or two of married life washow shall I say ita frustrating learning experience. Most girls spend plenty of time planning for their wedding, but make no preparation for the weeks and years to follow. Many wives are provoked to bitterness during the first year and never get over it. All this could so easily be avoided with simple instruction. It was with good reason God said let the aged women teach the younger. Trial and error is not the best teacher when it comes to marriage. It is much less painful to learn beforehand what God has to say about your role as a help meet to that special man God will bring into your life. It is the older women who have experienced the joys of a good marriage whom God has appointed to pass along his instructions. That is what I have done in this new book Preparing To Be A Help Meet.
Preparing To Be A Help Meet contains six sweet love stories written by wives sharing their experiences about how God taught them to be the help meets they are today. Three of the stories are from wives that have been married over 40 years. Three stories are by new brides who, before marriage, were trained to be the help meet God intended. All the love stories are beautiful, and will show you how wonderful it is to walk together in Gods light.
In addition to the six personal testimonies, this book is full of short stories from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. Funny tales, ideas of how to gain a good mans attention, and even a tragic testimony all teach important lessons. You will meet Grabbers and Hidden Flowers, and discover how to avoid being either. The chapter on Antsy Babes will remind you why patience is so important. You will be warned as you read stories of how texting, emailing and other forms of cyberspace have destroyed many budding relationships and even marriages.
An important part of this book is instruction on preparing for your future by saving money, developing skills, gathering information on cooking, health, and many other topics. Girls will see how one wise young woman planned her wedding Gods way. Along the way the reader will learn what to pack in her Heavenly Hope Chest.

The only “king” I serve is the Lord Jesus Christ. I want a husband who will be my partner in serving the One True King. That’s the only way Christian marriage should be!

Every marriage is different. Each type of man is necessary in God's kingdom. There is no "right way" other than what works for your relationship.

Jesus led by being a humble servant and men should lead like Christ. It's a simple concept when pride isn't a factor.

"You need to start responding to your husband, 'How may I please you?'" and I would expect nothing less than for him to do the same. It's not about dominance, it's not about equality either....it's about behaving towards someone as you would have them behave to you. I would hope that he would have the same desire to "serve" others as I would.

My long term boyfriend is definitely a command man, things have to be done a certain way, by a certain time, there's rules to be followed, tones of voice not to be ever used, etc etc. While adjusting to his preferences and learning to always defer to his leadership has been very difficult at times, I wouldn't have it any other way. I feel so blessed to have him in my life, and to have Debi pearls books and this KZbin channel to guide me. If a woman can learn to be a good helpmeet she will be so cherished and deeply loved and praised.

It's not outdated at all. King types still exist and are very necessary in every society and organization. If a king is leading from a biblical perspective, then he will greatly appreciate being served and will express his gratitude as lavishly as his expectations. Kings are not right for every woman, so maybe he's just not your type.

Her attitude is typical of women today. Focused on what she wants and not on what God wants. It doesnt matter how you feel about being a helper, ITS YOUR GOD ORDAINED PURPOSE. Being anything other than a Godly wife and woman is rebellion against God, plain and simple. Feminism has given women this idea that they get to selfishly choose how they will live their life, and because of that, its hard to even find a single Godly family in the world anymore. Im thankful that God gave me an obedient wife who understands that the best woman she can be, is the woman that God made her to be, no the woman that society wants to turn her into. Even if you have a crappy abusive husband, serving him well only adds to your rewards in heaven.

Yeah, let’s have a woman be submissive and men can focus on what they want, so basically aren’t men also selfish. Marriage is a relationship similar to a loving relationship that we can emulate from the father, son, and Holy Spirit. It’s a relationship where you focus on what the other needs both equally if the person is being abusive, whether it be male or female, they are not respecting God’s imago dei , and the sacredness what it means to be a child of God.

When Jesus died on the cross, he freed is from all bondage. We are free to be loved, and cherished for who we each submit to one another. Respecting and celebrating each other as equal partners in our Christian journey.
