Nathan, Shalom and Shoshanna join their parents to discuss what it was like growing up in the Pearl home and how they are benefiting as adults from the fruit of their training. Enjoy as they share some of the most memorable and impressionable moments from their childhood and how they caught much of what they learned from their parents. You (and Mike and Debi) may be surprised! See what is happening now with their own lives, families and careers. "For every tree is known by his own fruit" (Luke 6:44). See the fruit of training children in the way they should go and judge for yourself.

Enjoyed. The husband issue is not always possible though. My husband, and father of my daughter, came home from work one day in 2006 and announced that he had always wanted to be a woman. He immediately moved to San Francisco and had a sex change. There was nothing I could do. I contacted our priest but nothing could be done. My daughter is now 15, and we are ok, but sometimes there is no control, no matter how much you pray and try to make things right.

What they said about a lot of women that are labeled as "sweet" is correct. I'm going to be very honest as one of those women. I'm not genuinely sweet but rather a people pleaser, which stems from fear. On the inside, I'm bitter about the way people take advantage of me since I don't have much of a backbone. I cringe when people call me sweet. They call me that less now because I don't force myself to smile as much as I used to. I don't agree with every single thing this couple teaches, but I'm glad they mentioned this.

Only one question. What would you do, those who follow all instructions of this book or try it, if your child would be gay or transgender? Just a question because most of you are very religious and seem loving but very strict towards their children

I would teach my children the Bible but if he or she was gay I would not try to stop him. I would still love him as much as ever.

It's very obvious to me, that you are a loving parents and family. Never losing your temper and actions have consequences. You are very very honest, to the point of bluntness, watched lots of your videos. You treat your children differently to their personalities. You pay attention to your children and their hobbies and education. I have quite a few of your books, it always comes across as a happy family. I love listening to one of your son's reading to train a child on audible. He could make a career out of it, such a soothing voice. I'm from north east England thousands of miles from where you live. Different culture, and nationality. But my goodness it's so obvious you love your family. Total patience and interest in your children. Sadly, there are people who can't train dogs or horses with loving kindness and discipline. Give me a child till he is seven years old and I will show you the man, is very true. .

Beautiful family testimony; the fruits of your lives are so clear. Love the story about the climbing of steps. My daughter did climb a lot as a 2 year old and did fall twice, and this correction technique would have made a huge difference.

I love Mr & Mrs pearl! I wish I could know you personally and have you as my mentors in life. Loved this video and your teaching. I did read no greater joy years ago when raising my 2 kids. Watching this video makes we wish I had 5 kids and lived in the country. My kids - 19& 22 are scared to have kids cuz they look around at our society and are disgusted at what the kids are doing & what we have become in this society. I will share your books and videos with them to give them hope. They Love God and my husband and I are so blessed to have such wonderful kids like we do. Keep your videos coming!!! Thank you.

It's driving me crazy how the media picks apart your videos and only shows their side and portray Michael as a monster. Honestly I have never heard of IBLP before until I watched the Duggers Shiny Happy People but to me it just sounds like good christian people. I could see right through this Docuseries bull crap. Now I'm not saying I agree with everything that IBLP teaches but teaching your kids to be respectful, well behaved humans is not a bad thing. Spanking your kids is not a bad thing, abuse is bad spanking and discipline is not! I will definitely be getting To Train up a Child and reading it for myself and deciding for myself and family if we will be using it.

you're trying to discourage them from reaching and grabbing things when they're biologically hardwired to be doing that it's how they're learning and gaining fine motor control and they don't have the sophistication of higher thought process is to be able to differentiate between what you don't want them to grab at and what is acceptable for them to grab at. realistically the only things that you should be actively preventing them from reaching for things that are substantial danger to them and at that point that sort of makes the question why were they there in the first place? It's also really freaking weird that a video with this strong dislike to like ratio doesn't have a single negative or even neutral, comment.

But the stairs are dangerous… why are you so outraged that they want to protect their children from falling down the stairs? Motor skills are important, but so are their lives, they are many more opportunities to learn motor skills without risking the child’s life, now I noticed your user name, it might’ve been a joke but those things are nothing to joke about, trust me hell is not a place where you want to be, you think if God wanted us to have justice, he would send us to a place that will give us The wages of our sins, not a party, imagine a speck of Sand compared to the entire universe, what would that speck of sand be in comparison to the universe? nothing right, now imagine that intensified, imagine your life compared to eternity, eternity! So do you want to thrive in this world now or eternity? because I tell you very truly that the second you give your life to CHRIST from then on it will be a eternity of flourishing life that’s what GOD is LIFE, GOD is life if you want life you need GOD Now don’t get me wrong it will not be sunshine and rainbows all the time, once you give your life to Christ there will be trials and tribulations James 1:12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. John 16:33 "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." I love you and so does God, you don’t know when you’re going to die, you could die today And I hope today you got a little fear in your heart, which is a good thing, for example, if you were on a cliff you would have fear, now the feeling might not feel that good but it is a good thing because it’s telling you to back up from the cliff and its saving your life Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Repent( turn away) from your sins and not only believe God but also put all your trust and faith and all in Christ and also believe that He died on the cross for all of our sins and for all of us and rose on the third day to prove He’s the son of God (God in the flesh) and that He has authority over death and all Acts 3:19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding Hebrews 3:15 As has just been said: "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion."

Agree! Now cue up the zealots who never heard of baby gates. And bring on the zealots who never heard of just supervising your own children when in the home of someone who hasn’t babyproofed their home. Geez. My mother took a flyswatter to my bottom one time in my life, and it was for something far worse than climbing the stairs. How did I survive without getting smacked every week? 😅😅

I'm a believer and have 2 kiddos (7&6 both boys) we are completely on board with training our children, as the word instructs us to, and spanking when necessary. You guys sound like you believe there is a guaranteed outcome though. A formula. Do you? If you do this and this with your children then you will have beliebers? I know we are to point them to the Lord and exemplify Christ's love daily, but only the Lord can change their hearts. So are you saying there's a formula, or just these are some great guidelines and all we can do is obey the Lord, raise our kiddos in the fear and admonition of the lord and pray pray pray, share the gospel with them, God does the rest. Interested to hear your thoughts.

It's sad that this family was attacked, if this was not true. I've heard rumors about them, but something in my spirit did not sit right and I don't believe it was true- to be honest. I didn't know that person very well, neither do I know the Pearls well at all, so I'm not really sure but this was interesting. - also, I find it really hard to believe that the parents NEVER had one argument. Come on now.

I pray that my family by Gods grace will have the same testimony. -Eli

I'm so glad I watched this. At 19:47, I was reminded of an experience in a college Educational Psychology course when the professor asked the class to "vote" on several issues by standing on one side of the classroom or the other. The 5th or so issue posed was "Is it ever acceptable to beat a child?" and roughly 25 college students (including yours truly) were practically sitting in each others' laps in the center desk. Before the shocked professor could open his mouth, a vocal student...

said that she assumed we were all there for the same reason she was: that we recognized a distinction between "hitting" and "spanking" that he didn't, and we refused to be coerced into lumping the two together. Mr. Pearl framed it perfectly: If these people honestly believe that spanking is synonymous with hitting, then why do they feel the need to "correct" us whenever we use the word "spank"? I also laughed out loud at the idea that animals don't use corporal punishment. How naive!!!

My parents believed in training. I was spanked when I disobeyed. Never abused. We were spanked in love. By learning to obey and respond to a parents voice hopefully one day that child will obey the Holy Spirit. Obedience needs to be quick and done thoroughly. I am thankful for the Pearls who believe in child training. I believe in spanking and in child training. Our society is Godless and so many children control the parents. Praise God, His way of discipline and correction works! If parents did this more, we would see a huge change in children across the nation. Child training works.

Sorry to hear you were exposed to the duplicity and sad state of media reporting. While some media can a fair job most do not go to the source nor research, instead they can damage peoples reputations or hurt people or twist words. . To "discipline" means to teach. Some people believe discipline means hitting, but that is the lazy persons way to raising children. To discipline takes way more time, energy, consistency. You use the word "training" the same manner as the word "discipline" was intended. To teach = as Jesus said. :)

I like what this gentle spirot girl says, she is right, some kids do no need spanking, only guaiding, some kids are rebelious, my niece is trying me, checking how much she can get from her God mother, she is being told I am her another mommy. She is 5 now, i spank her once - when she was 4, acting like a brat, hitting me with everything she could catch. After spanking she was shocked coz my brother and sister in law never spanked her. She changed her attitude immidately, she was very sweet and lovely later. I wanna add that I talk soft and act soft toward everybody, I also played with her, doing craft and cooking together. When I left - she was saying my brother she misses me and asking when will I come. Child loves discipline , once u doscipline your child u will know.

Older video, but I am new to the whole false accusation against your family. What I have gathered from opposing opinions is that your accusers are either anti family, or modernist, adolescents that have been pulled into this "Dad and Mom are wrong, but my professor is right", mentality. You all are loved and appreciated, and I greatly favor anyone who believes and knows that God preserved His Word, and will teach it as the final authority.
