Anyone having auto transmission problems just change the oil pressure switches. There are 2. Will drive like new after that
@ちくてぬしくけて Жыл бұрын
They're common. Honda doesn't make great auto transmissions. If you have one, make sure you use a great synthetic oil like royal purple or redline every 20-30k miles. Change trans oil strainer every 50-60k miles. The auto will last you more than 250k if done right; maybe longer. The problem was that the auto isn't designed for that amount of torque and weight to go for 60k without changing the oil constantly. Also, stomping on it won't help either. The manual transmissions, on the other hand, are torque monsters! They could withstand almost 300 lbft of torque with a decent clutch setup!

I have owned a 2005 for a few years now. Got it with ~115k and it’s at 142k now. So far, I have noticed that there is a little oil burn, about a quart per oil change, so I usually check it every month and top off as necessary. The AC compressor fully seized about a year and a half ago at roughly 130k, and I will be replacing it soon. Luckily, the clutch itself was still fully operational, so the temporary fix to avoid further damage was just to remove the clutch fuse. I have the 5 spd auto, and haven’t noticed any slipping, but I replaced the fluid and filter as maintenance anyway about a year ago. The filter is incredibly easy to get to (just to the right of the engine on top of the transmission) so I consider this a very easy job, and something every TSX owner should do. The part is only about $15 from the dealer. I have also experienced the PS leak during my ownership, I replaced the o rings that are easiest to get to, but still have a slow leak. I believe that my VTEC solenoid is also leaking, since that is a common one, but haven’t looked into that much, just know that there is a leak on the back passenger side of the engine somewhere. Engine and transmission related parts seem to be very inexpensive as most of it will match up with Accord 2.4 parts. Overall, it’s a fantastic car and has even survived a light front end collision without issues (except my front bumper will never truly line up again.) that collision resulted in both front seatbelts permanently locking as well as the SRS computer needing to be replaced to turn off the airbag light. I have absolutely no idea as to the dealer rates for repairs on this car, as I do everything myself, but if you are also into DIY or have a trusted independent mechanic who gives good rates, this is a very cheap car to run. Keep in mind that the car will need Premium gas to get the best power, mileage, and not risk clogging the catalytic converter. Oh yeah, my catalytic converter also went out and I replaced it with a high flow unit (still a cat so not illegal like a test pipe or anything) from heeltoeauto, which is a great place to get OEM as well as various racing parts for the car.

I found a wholesale 2005 TSX with only 114k on the dial a couple of months ago. Since it was brought in wholesale at a dealership the general manager said he couldn't put it out on the lot so he happily took $3,000 for it. I wasn't even thinking of buying an Acura and luxury cars are usually too expensive to own but knowing this was Honda (and built in Japan) I changed my mind. No problems so far aside from the rear calipers I replaced and I'm absolutely in love with this car! It's made an Acura/Honda fan out of me as it's my first non-domestic vehicle. My only gripe is that I wish it was the 6-speed manual. Had it been, I'd probably be having a cargasm every time I started it up. The oil/filter change was super easy, along with the tune-up and rear brake caliper change I recently did. Wife is jealous.

Power steering pump is going out but still works. A/C compressor used to go out occasionally but for some reason that just stopped happening. Most expensive repair is that I’ve replaced the transmission ($4.4k) due to a slip and not changing the oil as scheduled. Still need to replace the window regulator on the passenger side but other than that the car has been pretty solid. I plan on keeping it for another 5-6 years. Another weird quirk is for those with 6 speed transmissions. Clutch pedal assemblies bend, or crack at the seams. Missing gears or trouble shifting are the symptoms. On mine, I can literally see the whole clutch pedal assembly move to the left when I push the pedal down. The fix is to replace it, then have someone add extra welding beads at the joints, or weld an extra piece of metal to it. The stock assembly by itself is weak and prone to flexing. If you have a manual you'll probably end up doing this at some point.

I think one of the big things about this car, is that while not a perfect car in terms of reliability by any means, it doesn't have common catastrophic engine and transmission failures either by poor design or by a faulty part. And for a DIY like me, I ordered the part, and completed the repair without hurting my wallet, and the car has 320,000 miles easily. I'm now selling it to a friend for $600 so he can make it a project car, and picking up a nice CU2 sport wagon.

I have a 08 TSX these are very reliable cars dont get me wrong its a honda itll keep going down the road no matter what but if your gunna buy a used TSX make sure its been well taken care of alot of them were beat the crap outta or just not maintained properly i bought mine with 120k miles last year and its been a reliable car never left me stranded always starts but i have had a few issues because the person before me did not take care of the care at all for years other than oil changes.AC compressor failure is common on the 1st gen tsx even 2007-2008 despite what you hear I was driving down the road and the ac compressor clutch made a loud band and flew off the car make sure to change the compressor out as soon as you can so you dont ruin the whole ac system when the clutch fails fortunately my compressor shut itself off and saved the rest of the ac system so i got lucky with just a compressor replacement from autozone for about 400$, You power steering hoses will leak there cheap to replace and its a easy fix.The engine splash guard and fender liners are gunna most likely be missing some clips etc make sure its not rubbing anywhere.You will need to do motor mounts 2/3 were shot on mine even with low mileage i recommend replacing all of them including transmission mounts if u want smooth shifts,check your cv boots and tie rod boots those tend to rip easy.ball joint replacement most likely aswell, if you have the auto change the transmission fluid every 30k if you want it to last.The ballast on the headlights will go bad all the wires tend to be covered in oil becuase of the leaky power sterring pump make sure to clean that up with brake cleaner. it sounds like alot but these are all small things on any car that happens with wear and tear of a 15 year old car since ive taken the proper care of the car its been worry free.

I bought a used '06 with 30,000 miles on it in 2009...it's my daily driver, after 'giving' it to my son to learn on - a safe ride with great visibility, airbags all around and still a fun, economical car. The only thing I ever had to do with it is replace a throttle position sensor at 130k, and a steering rack after a year of driving on the worst roads in the State of Florida - Tallahassee, rightly called an 'All-American City' because it's a dump. Current mileage is 190,000 and it still gets rated fuel economy. It's an auto-manual and I've never changed the tranny fluid...I suppose I should at some point, but finding someone to do it properly? Yeah, good luck with that... UPDATE: was recently told I need lower control arms and motor mounts...the latter explains the vibration I've been feeling. Engine still runs like a top. Anyone know how much motor mounts and lower control arms will cost me? Anyone interested in buying it from me? She's in otherwise great mechanical and cosmetic condition...

Hondas/Acura have the weakest automatic transmissions, which usually tends to give out by 155k miles. Miraculously, my 07 has 295k miles with the original auto trans still shifting smooth! I got it with zero miles back in Feb 07, and I never abused it though. The things that gave out on me were radiator at 200k, rotors at 120k and 250k, one front brake caliper recently, front wheel bearings at 220k, a full front suspension rebuild was done at 240k, and a new cat 3 weeks ago.

I’ve had an accord euro for a couple of years now, it’s up to 250k km now, I had to replace the starter motor, alternator, PS pump rebuild (bearing in the pump collapsed) and drivers lock actuator. It also had a shudder when the torque converter locked up, but a 3x3 fluid and filter change sorted that out. They’re an awesome car overall, but unfortunately the fuel consumption is a bit high with the price of fuel we have here.
@masterYodaYoda3 жыл бұрын
Hi,I have a similar problem on my accord. Could you tell me what that 3x3 fluid is ? Thanks
@zeroyon45623 жыл бұрын
@@masterYodaYoda Basically you drain the transmission fluid, refill (about 3 litres for the 5 speed automatic), go for a drive, drain, refill, drive, drain and refill- hence the 3x3. If you have an Accord CL9 or Acura TSX CL9, there is an inline filter on the top of the transmission (I believe other Honda models have a different filter or none at all), and the Honda part number for that is 25430-PLR-003 and you’ll need to use Honda ATF-DW1 fluid.

I wish this video existed when I bought my 08 Acura TSX in November,2020, while the 07 & 08 TSX is literally the best of the 1st gen, there are still issues, definitely from this video and even me already driving the car for 12k miles in only 6 months, my driver side door lock makes a whining noise so yeah that will be replaced eventually, the automatic transmission on my 08 is the most reliable so I’m definitely not worrying about that especially since I changed the transmission fluid when I bought it since the fluid was a little dark but not burned, ever since changing it it has remained red, but as for power steering I had a nice shop flush the system and put full synthetic power steering fluid so hopefully my rack & pinion stays fine, i bought the car with 119k miles from a dealer, $8,500 for a California example since I live in Southern California so no rust, but yeah I replaced the VTEC solenoid cause it gave me a check engine light, I did it at home, the ignition coil cause it of course gave me a flashing check engine light cause of a misfire on cylinder 3, did that at home, alternator which i changed at home cause the battery light would come on occasionally, driver/left side transmission seal cause the transmission was leaking slightly from the driver side but when I got my transmission fluid change they did that as well, I didn’t feel like removing the axle myself at home, cost $300 with labor and parts including fluid change, but besides that only issues remain are the front motor Mount which is weak, I replaced the back motor Mount which cost me $160 for a OEM motor Mount I bought myself online with $90 labor cause I didn’t want to do it at home, still need to do front motor Mount…., but yeah this car won’t leave you brankrupt but definitely needs maintenance
