Had this happen with my pair, bought the first one from a housemate who was moving out, however knowing that budgies are social creatures I bought another one to keep him company. As you say, it was WW3 for a couple of days, but after about the third day they'd sorted their differences out and been best mates ever since!

I had two and one died so I decided to get him a new friend. He was extremely happy and wouldn't leave here alone first few days. I kept them in diferent cages next to eachother for a week before puting them together so they could get used to eachother and meet. It is really important because budgies are territorial just like cats.

@@elias-on-gta I give them extra attention when they're home, and sadly my bird has to stay home-alone but even so, I still turn on some 7-8 hour long budgie sounds and open the TV. As long as there are sound effects around ur budgie, then thats ok :)) Also I usually let them out after I come home for nearly the rest of the day. Talk to them and entertain them after you finish ur school homework .

I always have two budgies; the green one in my room (Limon) used to live with a brother of his (Sheldon), but Sheldon died, and I got another budgie (Forrest) who tries to bite Limon’s toes and eyes, so I have to keep them separate for safety, and while I’m at school I make sure they have background noise, extra activities (perhaps a treat toy or something else), and I talk to them as much as I can. I wish Forrest didn’t try to kill everything that moves, but he still needs to be cared for

I have 3 bunge parakeets.. they are so happy together. I feed them vegetables , fruits and seeds. They sing and interact with each other alot. I clean their cage daily and give them fresh water and food daily. They don't interact with me much.. but I do talk to them and they know when it's time to clean and change their food daily. They seem to be very happy together. On warm days I take their cage outside and they love it.. ♥

Two or more is best! They are a flock/prey species and need to be part of a social group to feel safe and secure. I have a full time job and I have 7 parakeets. 😁 They all live together in a *giant* cage (seriously you could fit multiple toddlers, 3 petite people, or one medium bear-sized person in that sucker). And yes they have lots of toys, fresh water, bird seed, and veggies.

It depends on the budgie if they'll still be social with you. But most of them are. It is selfish to have a budgie alone just because you want them to prefer you.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Good points. I have two since I am away at work most of the day. They have such fun together. It would be a shame to deny them that companionship. Hi Antonio, they are both males, likely from the same parents even. I find the males get along very well together. Females are in my experience more temperamental, especially when it comes to nesting time. 20 male budgies will get on together but 2 females might fight over 1 nesting box.

no matter the number of budgies, let them out a LOT. If you keep your budgies in your room, close the door and windows, and let them fly around. I'd suggest looking at when the sun sets so you can set them free a few hours before it gets dark so you can put them back into their cage if they aren't tamed. After a while, you'll start to have them fly in front of your face and latch onto you while working. Don't worry, they just want attention.

Uwahhhhh I have one budgie and I love him so much he learned how to talk he’s learning new word everyday ! But I do go to school but my morning and the rest of my day is spend to my budgie but when I go to school I don’t want him to be lonely but for the rest of the day I’m with him and he has been an only budgie for ages now I’m just not sure if he would want to share a cage . He loves mirrors he never has got aggressive he plays with his toys he never really done anything to the mirror besides talk to it so I’m not thinking of getting another budgie I don’t want ww3 here

I have 1 baby and 1 5 mouth old, because baby is now healthy I’ve put their cage next to 5, to let them bond, they haven’t become friends yet but I’m hoping once baby grows up they will. Another budgie will offer enrichment and companionship when you’re not around so I’d say it’s a good idea, to tame them tho you want their attention, so perhaps keep them in separate cages (or buy 1 at a time?) at first if you can? I am not an expert tho, just done a lot of research recently because of the babies I’ve found. Baby is really tame, as I hand raised them, but not too sure about a grown one, I’ve never managed to fully tame my 5 month, always biting ahah, but with patience I think I will eventually, they will land on my hand. If you buy separately you should watch them, maybe move them somewhere else, because sometimes they get territorial??? As I said I’m no expert and I haven’t put mine in the same cage yet, not until baby is eating by themself.

I have one budgie, I have tried giving him a companion budgie more than just once, the problem is that he is absolutely calm and non-dominant, so other budgies do pick on him. Every time he has a pet budgie, he hid behind my shoulder. I really think he sees me as his flock, he is absolutely tame and obsessed by me, I can even take him for a walk...eh flight without harness. In 12h day, he sits almost 10h on my shoulder and in the night he cuddles against my face when I am in my bed. He pays almost no attention to other birds or their sounds. Also for taming him I never gave him any sorts of food, I mean why should I? Since the first day I got him, he went on my finger almost as if he knew what to do. I got him from a flock of 50 budgies and he was the tamest, every other budgie flew away as I went inside their cage.
