I hope she has her foal soon! It’s heart breaking to see animals in such discomfort and pain and not being able to do much to help, so the sooner foal comes the better! You are also amazing, you have so much patience, I don’t know how you can handle the anxiety and worry of her giving birth any day soon, it’d drive me mad!

I've never been pregnant but I feel her discomfort. I wish she knew how many folks are rooting for her. Loved the bit where there's all these girls just pampering her even so she didn't have to bend her head right down to the ground for hay! Carol Shortley thank you! All 14 of my horses are like that. I have 250-300 students (mostly kids) so they all get a lot of attention. I’m very cautious about how each horse is handled and some are more trustworthy than others of course.

Well done Nikka. You are doing so well. Folk who put thumbs down what is your issue? She not a wild horse i believe having your human mom with you for comfort is lovely for this horse. Do you know horse's? Yes I do agree some humans interfere too much, especially when mare is truly giving birth. Touch and interfering with the newly born foal. If you watch this owner and her family they are super respectful. Believe me if this horse did not want humans touching she'd walk far far away and give signs. Neck up, glaring eyes, set jaw, ears back......Please chill out. The best is always to be calm -loving -genuine around a horse. Loving vibes to Nikka and entire family & Baby inside.

Reminds me of that last long uncomfortable week of pregnancy. Whether human or animal that last few days before birth is awful...Hopefully all the moving around she did yesterday motivated baby to come on out. Can't wait to see that baby!

It’s so heartwarming to see the trust and strong bond that Nika is showing you, and it’s clear that you feel the same way about her, and it’s amazing how we can feel their pain too. Poor baby. She is miserable. Us moms know what she's going through. More then likely it is the dripping milk that is causing her legs to itch. All you can do about that is to wipe her off, but at the same time you've got winter temps going on there. Years ago I remember us getting snow as late as May 23rd. The snow was still on the ground when us kids got out of school for the summer. We've not had snow that late since. About a week ago we got 6-inches and it melted right away. Us kids got so bummed that year thinking it was going to snow all summer too, lol! It is the reason we get so profoundly happy at the first sign of spring. We're so ready to have the winter be gone, it's not even funny. It's the below-zero temps we can't handle anymore. The snow and ice isn't safe either. I have become so careful when walking out there now. If I fell the right way, I know my hip(s) would break. You can't help but want to watch out for your baby mom. The baby is coming very soon. I've heard about human mothers being in labor for days. Most likely that doesn't happen so much anymore. I was in labor for 18 hours. A girlfriend spent the night that night and I spent the night pacing. I remember my girlfriend asking, "Does it hurt?", LOL! She didn't get any sleep that night and she came to see me at the hospital that afternoon after I had my daughter.

if you have a phone and tablet you can set the phone to face time your tablet and always have a real time camera on her. that way you don't miss her foaling but can still do things with less stress. our mare had 2 foals...we saw neither be born u ntill she decided to bring them in from the pasture( 648 acres) even though we stalked her with binoculars and radios....she beat us all!!

Im in pain just listening! I swear once youve felt labor you have a unsaid kinship with other animals in labor... Its usually really easy to feel their entire belly contracting as welll... and pooping alot because they feel like they need to push cuz of pressure... itll be soon, id say within 24 hours and i bet its a little buckskin😍

Hey there, new subscriber here. Enjoying your channel. I had a similar situation with a mare I had 10 years ago. Thoroughbred mare bred to an Irish sport horse. I spent hours and hours waiting for the birth! I was so exhausted and needed a shower so I left her at 9:00 am slept for two hours and when I got back she had delivered the foal. Unfortunately the foal died by suffocation! It couldn’t break through the birth sack that was abnormally thick. I tortured myself for months over it! He was a beautiful colt, buff tan with a white blaze and four white socks. The mare was dark bay. It was her fourth foal and she never had any problems with the others. She even gave birth to twins her second time! I still beat myself up over leaving that morning! As you know things can go wrong quick! I hope your mares delivery goes well! I feel bad leaving you with my story! I just thought it might help if you think it’s time and decide to leave for something. I’d say don’t! Best wishes!

Versatile Horsemanship I honestly don’t remember. The mare was bred and pastured where there may have been a lot of a certain kind of grass possibly fescue, which can thicken mucus membrane. I had the vet come out and look at the foal and we had a tough time breaking through the membrane. It was very thick and almost rubbery. I have pictures of the foal still in the birth sack. I’m not sure about red bag? He’s also positioned with his head tucked way under. I’m not sure if he came out that way or ended up that way? It was sad to say the least. I cleaned him up let him dry then buried him under some trees along side a very old goat I buried a few years before.

Gotta love the wait and anticipation, I remember my girl was sooo close to foaling, major dripping going on and within 24 hrs baby was on the ground, of course I missed him being born by about 20 mins. She was sooo miserable just before foaling. Thought Id show you a pic of what she looked like the day before she foaled. The natural way of the mare giving birth away from the herd is best. Then staying with the foal for those first few critical days to bond and beginning the teaching of how to be a horse. Then the mare decides to slowly introduce the foal to select herd members. All during this time there is no human involvement. The mare will let the human know when it is an appropriate time to be introduced to the foal.

With dripping for days you might want to find some colostrum for when baby comes. She might have lost alot and the baby needs it to survive.

If she's dripping milk, its dripping down on the gaskins. And because it dries and gets crusty, it makes it itchy. When she was lying down in her stall, with her breathing, did her stomach get hard? If it did, she's coming due to foal. Her rolling on her side then on her belly is positioning the foal.

I think she thinks she's a lap dog!😄 I need to be educated about a pregnant mare having never owned a mare. But I was curious about something. Years ago my poodle was about to give birth. The vet told me signs to watch for the day she'd birth. He said she would not want to eat hours before birth, and he was right. I was wondering if the same applies for all animals? Will she stop eating a few hrs before she foals? I can't wait! I just subscribed to your channel. I love horses🤗

See! You can talk and communicate with them both ways, I love how sweet she is with the children. But you can tell she's maybe scared, uncomfortable, and lives her trusted owner near by. I truly believe they wait to have there foals until owner is nearby! My small dog did the same, I had my son with her, but as soon as I was there boom here come the babies. What a pretty little palomino she is, I will pray for a easy birth for them both💝💝💝💝
