Aboriginal people were at their cultural peak when operating in relatively small groups, with every person exercising a relatively high degree of self determination. Each group - whether a small or large tribe - was fiercely independant and proudly committed to their own leadership. The concept of submitting to an external committee, thousands of kilometers away, would be appalling to ancient Aboriginal tribes. They would laugh at it, as it would be a joke. They would mock it, for it deserves to be mocked. And they would resent it, despise it and rise up in great anger if it were to actually happen. God forbid if "The Voice," and all its socialist over-reach, ever happens.

I grew up with kids (some of them Children of Stan Gran Sr), they used to tell me all sorts of strange stuff. Like they would receive government payments for mowing the lawn and stuff like that. It was at this time I wondered why there was this division in our society based on being Aboriginal or not. At that stage I didn't know about all of these guilt trips that people now hang over the head of every white Australian like 'White Australia policy' or 'The stolen generation' or anything like that. I was never exposed to anything like that, my Dad grew up in Kempsey and there were Aboriginals all over the town, my Dad had very friendly relationships with all the people he knew there and I (as a kid) didn't know the difference between his friends that were Indigenous or not. So this whole Yes vote and especially the campaigning for it is extremely racist in my opinion. It does not promote equality and the promoters are hiding behind this lie of recognition. recognition of what exactly? I am pretty sure it was mentioned on this channel that according to the census information, the number of indigenous people recorded is vastly overstated as there is no onus of proof, You can just claim that you are indigenous. This drastically skews the population of indigenous people and also the level of government allocation of funding. Another interesting statistic was that 1/7 indigenous people live remotely. This too also drastically affects the level of funding required to assist such groups. Overall I don't think there should be special funding based on someone being indigenous, it should be special funding based on people living remotely, just like the onus of supplying internet and telecommunication services. There should not be Abstudy there should only be Austudy. There are many other areas that are quite clearly divisive and discriminatory based on race, culture and genetic heritage. If we want our country to be 'our' country then we have to stop using the terms 'indigenous, first nations' and so on for political purposes. Not indigenous lands but Australian lands. No native title, no specific benefits given to any one group, what is accessible by one group is accessible by all. Being indigenous is not a disadvantage like being in a wheelchair, I would say when judged on merit it is not a disadvantage at all. If you have the same level of education, health, intelligence as the next person then you will have the same opportunities (luck aside). I am a bit sick of being told by someone that has decided to vote Yes that voting no is racist or timid or you are only voting that way because you are scared, it is like a five year old school yard bully. I ask many of these people why they are voting yes, not one of them has given a cohesive answer yet. It is all just fluff and 'recognition' and "it's just right' and 'they deserve it' and rubbish answers like that. Not one person has been able to articulate why it is important, right or why 'they' deserve it.

To make non-indigenous people pay for indigenous people's privileged access to the Executive I reckon would violate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (as expressed through the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, Art. 1(4)) . An elite, super lobby group which we have to pay tribute to? There'll be a class action against the Commonwealth of Australia if it's voted up. I don't want to be paying taxes for someone else to represent their own interests pernanently to the Executive, when we the rest of us don't have that arrangement. It's definitely patronising to vote yes because of any emotional thoughts. Just like it's stupid to "vote no, because you don't know." I'm voting no for a million reasons, but rather than listing those I'd say actually would help indigenous people and that's the yes voters themselves claiming the bureaucracy doesn't work, and then plonking another bureaucracy ontop won't help anyone. The focus should be on the money and what happends to it. And most importantly of all the children should be the focus. All this voice does is put focus on the ultra rich indigenous Australians in Canberra and I'd never vote for that in a million years.

Essentially there are two parts the the referendum on the Voice. Firstly there is the warm and fluffy introduction as displayed in some posts, you might say a “hale and fair well” moment. It is about time the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders were recognised in the Constitution. But, and everything comes after the but❗️If we were to liken the second part of the Voice Campaign to a red car then we would discover the following. The Car is still on the drawing board. The project is still in development. It’s formate is still being shaped does not even have a colour. Still to come, we are to learn AFTER the referendum, is how it will be represented by the Indigenous people, how many sitting members, how will it interface with the executive government, how will it be funded❓ Most importantly for me is how it will impact and change the quality of life for the Indigenous people living in rural and remote communities❓❓❓

No one wants to be told or to think of themselves as being patronising, however, it is a common human trait that causes us to act out of a "feeling that we are helping or doing the right thing", rather than action based on facts. I would like to do the right thing for indigenous Aussies, but I believe that there is more to it than meets the eye. I watched the Kitchen Cabinet with Linda Burney who is very likable but there is something that those on the 'Yes' side need to clarify when Linda and Co say things like '......the Uluru Statement - In Full'. What is 'the full'. Also, when there are hardcore socialists involved in the formulation of The Canvas and The Voice as well as the PM being economical with the truth it means I'm the 'No' camp.

Even if you want to vote yea. The idea that you can’t remove the voice shouldn’t be seen as a good thing but a worrying thing. Every previous federal aboriginal organisation was abolished for either not achieving outcomes or even fell into receivership. You WANT to be able to get rid of ineffective bureaucracy. The idea that the voice is the perfect solution and will deliver outcomes where previous attempts failed is something of a faith argument in the YES campaign. Not one substantiated by evidence or past examples. In short enshrining a voice may end up being worse for aboriginals and for far longer.

A number of participants said the Voice to Parliament must be “better than ATSIC”, the scandal-plagued Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission which was abolished by the government in 2005. “We lost ATSIC at the stroke of a pen,” one Brisbane dialogue participant said. “Would you abolish Westpac Bank if two or three of its directors were not doing the right thing? I don’t think so.” ATSIC allowed them to access cash payments that they didn`t have to account for. The document outlines a number of radical proposals such as “job quotas” with a “minimum 10 per cent appointments” of First Nations people for roles including judges, magistrates, Australian Defence Force officers and state and federal police, among others. It also suggests “no entry tests” or university fees, first preference for all public housing, and “all beaches and national parks to be property of the relevant tribe” with “non-First Nations people to be charged” for their use.

this voice may seem unfair to non original peoples,yet we do need help to form our own big companies,factories,banks,sports teams,medical research,scientific studies of our selves,we do need help to get some multi billion dollar original peoples to,all the big money making schemes are run by non original peoples,and yeah its true we dont need help on a micro level but we do need help like all the settlars got free land,resources,money to start their big companies way back,they all had a great hed start over us blk fellas and now we need that great hedstart now that was denied us for over 200 years

My parents are dunkers, I am not lol. I like a Big Mug of sweet Campfire Brew, my latest favourite after I went off Dilmah due to the tannens being too bitter. Much of this Voice carry on is to permanently establish the activist lead Aboriginal industry. As someone who's paid to hear Jacinta Price and Warren Mundine speak the truth, having visited remote communities I don't see any good coming out of the Voice. The goal is not to fix disadvantage but to perpetuate it so as to grow the industry for a select few. I'm a firm NO voter.

Why would I be patronising by voting yes, which I will do, I have family and great mates who are indigenous many are voting no, many are voting yes..John Howard wanted this many years ago, many great Australians thought the day would never come and have passed on, my belief, and with the utmost respect, I wish we had this happen under a liberal government because our adjustment for change would have probably been smoother, having said this do you not believe that the indigenous mob which is so multi culturally diverse now should not be recognised within the confines of the constitution, me, I , us , constitute, the benefits will negate any so called racial, some say apartheid like effects..I want recognition for our first people , not through bloody pity or patronage..for me it's from love
