I've got a (crude) wad from 90s with Simpsons graphics and sounds. Doomguy is Homer, revenant is Bart with a slingshot, cyberdemon is Mr Burns throwing radioactive bits at you, imp is Ned Flanders, the blue sphere health power-up is Marge... One of your pain sounds is d'oh and one of death sounds is "You maniacs! You blew it up!" There's a design flaw - the graphics are not the right size, e.g. Ned Flanders is huge but can fit in a room with a fairly low ceiling (because imps are roughly doomguy's height). It doesn't change game's mechanics, though, and it's rather fun. My cousin and I used it a lot in our deathmatches. Using mid2mod tool and having downloaded a Simpsons theme midi, I've made a wad that I used alongside to have the right background music.

Very nice that you calculated the possibility of defeating the Icon of Sin in pacifist way, but there's a catch. Your calculations are only valid for true random numbers or for a pretty good pseudo random number generator. As you made a video in this topic you know that DOOM's RNG is worse than the oldest C run-time library's rand() function. On the top of that it's very periodic to say the least. So this makes a usable scenario to occur either completely impossible (P = 0) or way more possible than what you've calculated.

God, I wish Plutonia had less Revenants... I actually really like the Archviles and they're used sparingly enough even in Plutonia (they feel like a real boss monster), and Chaingunners are really annoying but die quickly to anything, but Revenants are able to tank a rocket without dying, they have by far the most annoying projectile in the game, and Plutonia throws them around like the main game throws around Imps. You ever try to do that fight in the second stage with the invisible bridge without knowing that the bridge is there so you just shoot them across a chasm? It's pure misery because they're so hard to hit with basically every weapon from that distance.

Certain parts of Plutonia are crap (hidden Arch-viles reviving dead chaingunners), but I'd argue any user-made map, especially the "slaughter" ones, have far more "artificial" difficulty since the makers have absolutely no clue on level flow and balance. Running around like a maniac with a hundred Cyberdemons shooting you from all angles, requiring you to cheat in order to progress, isn't a "challenge"; it just shows you don't know what you're doing. DIY map makers are also just as guilty of overusing Revenants as the Casalis, as well as overdoing it with the Arch-viles.

Been waiting on this for a while, and it was well worth it. Love how the Icon of Sin map, since it is realistically impossible to be able to complete it pacifist (reliably, that is), pretty much turned into an A.I. and mechanics analysis video. Oh, *The* decino is playing DooM with a mouse and WASD. Life will never be the same again. What else, 2020? Indeed, the hardest in be-nice-with-monsters mode is to remember being nice with them (who is really into it?*), the exception is indeed with MAP28 (in this pack of levels), I usually speedrun it like crazy, especially pissing of fellow players in coop. * I remember playing dehacked DooM, in which Cacodemons become harmless (and technically immortal), so you are becoming a pacifist just with these red cute tomatoes

@@hoodedman6579, I still prefer the arrow keys and Ctrl/Space. Just a question of habbit (and still in Vanilla or Vanilla-compatible ports, mostly in DOSBox) You don't need to aim vertically in DooM too

Hes always played with Keyboard and Mouse, his movements are to fast and precise plus Doom has ALWAYS had Mouse support.

@@heyitsmegoku69420, yes, I know mouse was always in place, I played with setup.exe for a while. It was more like an association between some old gaming style. JR also uses mouse in DooM
