Technically, high power PD chargers provide 5v by default. If a device asks (negotiates) for a higher voltage (say 9v or 15v all the way up to 20v), the charger will supply just that voltage. As for the current, the device will pull whatever it needs so no need to worry if your charger supports high amperage (you can even use a 1000A charger provided that the voltage output is the same as what your device needs). I have the Nano II 65w charger and I use it to charge my laptop, my phone, my galaxy buds and my pocket wifi. So you'll be safe to use that charger with whatever USB-C device you have

@TechieZeddie2 жыл бұрын
That's not how it works. The charger doesn't throttle. The charger can only provide what the device asks for. So as long as the charger can provide enough power, you're good. This means a 65W charger can provide up to 65W of power. A tablet that asks for 30W will only pull 30W. All that means is the charger isn't stressing out (only using 50% of it's "strength"). This also means you should NOT use a 30W charger on a 65W device! The device will pull as much as it can, but the charger won't be able to handle it. The charger will overstress and burn out. Most GOOD chargers will "burn out" a fuse or trip a safety (like a fuse that will reset after it cools off). If you draw too much power you won't start a fire, but your device won't charge or operate either. With the advancements in USB charging specifically, there's a lot of communication between the charger and device today. This is also why USB charging can provide multiple voltage levels (5v, 9v, 15v, 20v). Before USB (example: barrel plugs), there isn't all these smart stuff. You absolutely need a power supply to provide the EXACT voltage the device needs, but the current (in milli-amps - mA or amps - A) needs to be the same or higher than what the device asks for. Oh, and power (in watts) is Voltage multiplied by Current (in amps). Power (in W) = Voltage (in V) x Current (in A). Watts, Volts, and Amps are measurements (example, like in meters, feet, liters, gallons, etc). They are to measure Power (Watts), Voltage (Volts), and Current (Amps).

I have that Anker Nano II charger and it is freakishly small. Super convenient for travel or when you don’t have much room around your power outlet. It’s enough to power everything (laptop, iPad, phone…), if you’re happy to use battery power most of the time and only charge one device most of the time, you can be fine with that as your only charger in your bag!

I really like Anker kit, but surely a better way to verify this is to sniff the PD connection? For me the 45w looks like the sweet spot of these. Half the weight of the 65w one, and with enough power output for all of my portable devices, Surface Book 3, MacBook Air M1, and various phones and tablets.

Yes I have a type-c usb meter. But the display is not as big as the kill-a-watt. The number displayed on the usb meter will be smaller obviously(conversion loss). Yes I agree amzn.to/3C8qXIZ looks better but I do have other devices (e.g. a power bank) that require 60W input so 65W works great for me!

Hello, I have a question, is it true that charging macbook with third party charger can wear the battery faster than using included apple charger?? I want to buy Anker 735 charger but I'm afraid it'll damage or wear the battery faster. Great video btw! subbed!
@ToolsElectroDIY2 жыл бұрын
Great question. The answer is no, it will not damage the battery at all. They USB-C PD port is universal.

Do you make a test for higher output devices like mi11 ultra? Will it get max 65w? Or it depends on the brand of the phone to get that required fast charging protocol active?
@ToolsElectroDIY2 жыл бұрын
I don't have mi11 ultra. The charging speed is determined by the phone, even if the charger can provide higher output.

Using the 65w charger, does it speed up wireless chargers as its power source or no difference at all with normal 15 to 25w chargers?
@ToolsElectroDIY2 жыл бұрын
It just provides the maximum allowed wattage that is required by the device.

Thank you good sir for making this video. I have a question. Can you please leave a list of how long the 65w charger charges each device or how much percentage it charges by x amount of minutes. I think this will help a lot of people decide weather thet want to buy this sort of charger. It would definitely help me. In particular I would like to know how long it takes yo charge a phone and tablet fully.

You gotta take into account also the wire may not support that much wattage being poured into because i had the oneplus 9 phone and i looked up the amps to the charger wire it did make a difference alittle on the type of copper wire used inside the product. But love the video
