and while i was uploading this video, cubfan published another episode of his List where he talks about changes to Mending lmao. EDIT: one thing I didn't really touch up on in the video is the codebase itself. Bedrock doesn't really have this issue, but Java has been marred by difficulties due to being originally a passion project by a Notch without much of a plan. There's a reason "Notch code" is infamous among modders and Mojang themselves. Rewriting the game completely would give an opportunity to clean up the code, while also allowing to implement more advanced features like a better lighting engine.

Mojang could literally stop updating the game and modders would keep it alive Hell, since modders wouldn't have to constantly update their mods with the now-frequent updates, it might even start the golden age of modding

but then again, the technical updates that mojang have been making recently make mods and datapacks easier to make and more capable...

from what I've seen of Vintage story, it looks amazing, but too complex imo.
@anomyymi0108
@anomyymi0108 Күн бұрын
@@krishacz That complexity is a such a great feature for multiplayer though, division of labor becomes natural if not necessary just for survival. It's actually brilliant to play with a couple friends, you *need* to specialize if you want to survive the first winter with a reasonable living standard. In minecraft mp there's basically no need to trade when everything is so trivial to obtain and do, everyone becomes an invincible god in mere hours.

personally, i think that Minecraft thrives on the simple system, allowing new players to learn the game quick, and get into the more complicated systems like villager trading, building etc. I don't agree on your opinion about enchanting too, respectfully of course - you are allowed to have your opinion. Simple enchants give me a directed goal, rather than a bunch of weird names and stuff like in mods which add custom enchants, which i personally don't like as it is too complicated for a game i use to relax every other point in the video i agree on, the mud and clay point i think is very clever, as it is more essentially a part of survival than wood tools. great video, definitely subbing
@krishacz
@krishacz 2 күн бұрын
that's fair! but i'd say some of my ideas would actually make the game a lot more simple and easy to learn compare for example "your pig digs up cool things sometimes like how it does in the real world" to "to get these cool things you ned to make a brush with copper and a feather and go to a specific place at the bottom of the ocean and find an egg and hatch it to get the mob that digs up cool things" and enchanting could definitely be made a lot more accessible (darn you, anvil mechanics!) but thanks!

This would also enable important performance enhancements. Minecraft code is such spaghetti, that even modding some of said enhancements breaks any and all intercompatibility with other mods that rely on the unmodified system. I think chunk generation and rendering especially needs to be adressed.

Great Video! I absolutely agree that enchanting is a bad mechanic. And yes, I think that adding functionality to the pig instead of adding a whole new mob would've been a much better way to go about things. I don't agree with a lot of your points though. Mud, for example, is an easy material to build with in real life. The fact that its not so in minecraft just makes it unrealistic, but not necessarily bad design. I would really hate if the food mechanic in minecraft were changed to be more realistic. Can you imagine carrying around 9 different soups in your inventory, to get a balanced diet? To go back to the cake analogy, Mojang in recent updates has been throwing a bunch of stuff into a pot and expecting it to mix well. Flavors overpower each other. Less useful mechanics, like the cooking functionality of the campfire, are overshadowed by pre-existing catchall solutions, like the furnace. Instead of this, I think Mojang should make these editions more powerful for certain applications. For example, they could make the campfire cheaper, stop phantoms spawning, give a boost to saturation. Make it so that there are situations where a campfire is the superior choice, but not always. I don't think a Minecraft 2 is necessary, I think they could absolutely fix these problems by improving these inferior additions (I mean, really, when on earth am I going to have a practical application for a glow squid.) I think the player base won't be bothered if these features become less obsolete. Thereby, more harmonious with each other without the need for a total overhaul.

@@krishacz how expensive is it to get out of your mud house, punch six wooden logs, use one to make a crafting table, one to make an wooden pickaxe, mine 8 stone, make a furnace, use one plank to burn one wooden log into charcoal, use that to make a fucking campfire. How is that expensive, literally takes 2 minutes out of your Entire day, ends up saving alot of fuel for you in the long run.

These things should just be updated as making everyone repurchase the game (Minecraft 2) is silly. You would have the same result of Cities Skylines 2. Plus it would split the player base even more.

Amazing video! This is something i've never thought of. I hope you keep making more stuff. About the enchantments...it's hilarious how they keep adding new features that don't really enhance the game at all (Sniffer) but don't focus on half-baked ones like enchanting that have needed attention for so long.

"mods can fix it" is a terrible attitude to have, especially when it comes t a game that is still getting updates. mods are not universal, the majority of players will not be using the specific mod you want to. by that logic minecraft could have stayed at version 1.0 and let modders do the rest. by the way, a lot of the under the hood stuff mojang are doing now (which i like) is precisely to allow mods and datapacks to easier modify the game. I imagine that if a 2.0 was made, with modding in mind, the process would be even easier for modders.
