Hi Sarah - great video and just what I was looking for. I want to start off on eBay but I haven't got a lot of start up capital. I will deffo have much less than 80 listings to begin with. Would it be terrible for me to be a reseller with this little number of listings on a private seller account until I get to a more respectable number of listings going? I don't want to be one of 'those' sellers that gets the business sellers disapproval? Thanks in advance xx

Can you do a breakdown of your sales and time involved in your eBay business ? 600 items listed sounds like you are quite busy ☺️

So does subscriptions scrap final value fees or just listing fees? I sell furniture, most sales are £300 to £400 and eBay take around £40 to £50 off each sale and I sell at least 15 sets a month, really would appreciate advice

Another thing to consider is if you have alot of items end at same time theyll use some of your free listings to relist before yove really used them to list new items which has caught me out a few times.

Great video chuck. This is exactly the process I’ve just been though a couple of months ago while deciding if getting a basic shop was worth it. I was already registered as a business on eBay (and HMRC obvs) but was trying to decide if it was the right time to upgrade. It was and now I’m building my little business with much reduced fees!

Been cluelessly selling mostly tat on ‘bay for about 3 odd years - some bought to sell,some donated to me and other stuff from behind the sofa . I’ve got about 1200 odd bits on there at the moment and am managing somehow to stay within the 1000 free listings thing - not sure how! I did try having a store a few years ago but it was costing around 80 squid p/m so I wasn’t really making anything after all the Paypal & Postage Piranhas had Pummelled off the Pennies that Persevered....... Pah!!! 😠 😉 I barley make pocket money now,but it keeps me busy and stops my remaining cell from exploding as I started all this due to a pretty nasty annus horribbuls about 5 years or so ago now when my Dad died and I got made redundant after being being off from work for 2 months with depression and anxiety all within the same year !! Not really been right since tbh ( though the jury is out on if I ever was 😉) Doh - TMI sorry 😐 Anyway nice vid 👍 Very much appreciated the Kit Kat thing - I do a similar thing with Midget Gems or ‘Babs (Jelly Babies 👶 ) - superb! 👍 Keep going ! You’re doing a fabtastic job of keeping a load of plates merrily spinning! I don’t knowhow you do it! The videos are great and your personality really shines through - You Gooo Gurrrl !!!😉 😃 👍 Warmest wishes from Wales 🏴 - Jonathan 😊 👍

Thanks very much for the video, very interesting. However I am somewhat confused. I am currently selling as a private seller and get 1000 free listings a month. These are free as long as I choose either auction or buy it now. But you get charged additional fee if you do both at the same time. Why would I want to sign up to a store if I do not pay for listings at the moment anyway? Also as a private seller I regularly get offered weekend vouchers of 80% of final value fees if I list in that period, so again, this seems better than having a store? I feel like I’m missing something here, so if you could explain why moving to a subscription would save me money that would be great. Thanks again. Great video..
@SelfEmployedStudentMum2 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for watching! There's a few legal reasons to have a business account such as registered businesses having to have their business info available to comply with trading laws etc, you don't have to have a subscription to be registered as a business seller though but subscription levels really depend on how much you're selling. I did a video a while back which breaks down the costs and whether it's worth having a shop or not
@BraveCounsel2 жыл бұрын
@@SelfEmployedStudentMum thanks for explaining. Are the final value fees the same for a private seller vs a business seller, or do you get a discount?
@SelfEmployedStudentMum2 жыл бұрын
There's a slight discount but in some categories it's not by much at all like in clothing I think it's about 1% difference. You do get a few other benefits like packaging vouchers so free eBay branded mailing bags or boxes and the promotions manager to run sales etc

It's up to 80 listings, not 80 a month as items renew every month so it would depend on how much you sell and list etc

@@SelfEmployedStudentMum yes that's right, a lot of competition, you have to constantly tweak listings to stay ahead of them, but once you've found the right products you don't need to list more. Worst part for me is creating new listings...

eBay seem to have it the wrong way round. They should charge private sellers listings and free for shops. They do seem to treat sellers oddly.
@SelfEmployedStudentMum4 жыл бұрын
@@oldcodgerplaysgames9610 definately! It is backwards but I guess if they charged those kind of fees to private sellers no one would pay it so they wouldn't make anywhere near as much money as they do off business sellers who don't have a choice but to pay it if they wanna use the platform

Hi my lovely, on the verge of opening a shop but nervous. Does buy it now work out better than auction and will I get more traffic through my shop. I see shops sell items for a lot more than I can , is that because its a shop do people feel more secure. Any help greatly recieved. Merry Christmas * Jane x
@SelfEmployedStudentMum3 жыл бұрын
Hi no I wouldn't say that having a shop means more sales, all it does is saves you money on listing fees and a few extra perks like the packaging vouchers. I prefer buy it now as the prices people seem to get for auctions for the kinds of things I sell are really really low and just not worth it for me. You can always cancel your shop subscription if you decide you don't like it or isn't worth it later on, but it's also not needed at all. Depends what your selling but consistently listing good items is the only thing that matters on ebay. Good luck! Xx

Hi no I don't have a video on taxes or anything as finances are so different for everyone and everyone's working and family situations are so different that what's right for one person isn't for another.
