It always amazes me to see so many comments knocking the EV'S that are in these videos. The titles clearly indicate that these KZbin videos are about the lightning EV. Yet these EV haters continue to watch these videos. It takes a lot of time and effort to make these videos and yet so many unnecessary negative comments. My question to these people is, "WHY DO YOU WATCH THESE VIDEOS, SINCE YOU HAVEN'T ANYTHING GOOD TO SAY ABOUT THEM ?"

Ford hit it out the park with the lightning. I got the lightning and it so smooth and way faster than even my v8 gto. Its on another level. I been averaging almost 3 miles per kw too. Its the perfect daily driver.

That's excellent mileage. So far with my platinum I've only achieved 2.5/mpk during my trips to town. I have gotten over 3 mpk with all city driving. I do have a platinum and it's got some added weight which does drop my range to 300 miles.

I have the Lariat and I love it. I can't believe how much I really like it honestly. I traded my 2022 loaded up high country 6.2 and electronic suspension for the Lightning. I was worried because I really liked the high country as it was redesigned and my second one. I still have a 2019 F150 and I did own a Ram 1500 limited with air suspension. This Lightning for me is so much better. It costs me less than 9 dollars to fill it up (at home) at the 330 mile range. The way I drive I get about 250 miles comfortably driving semi aggressively. The acceleration feels too good not to use it lol. There is a little front end porpoising when hitting a big bump or transition but I can live with it. If it wasn't for that I would have almost no complaints.

I own an F150 Lightning, Lariat ext range, and I love it every day. It is the best vehicle I've ever driven. It's an investment that is worthwhile. EVs tend to be a little more expensive upfront, but the cost to maintain and to get the same number of miles driven is far, far lower than any gas or diesel powered vehicle of the same kind. The Lightning is like 4 vehicles in one: it's a proper pick-up truck, and has the luxury of at least a Lexus if not a Jaguar, and it performs and handles like a sports car, but rides like a smooth old Cadillac. It really has to be the best vehicle of the century!

You have described my lightning perfectly. Except with all you've said, you've left out a very important part to me, which is the ability to power all the critical loads in my home for 10 days or more during a power outage. This is truly the absolute best F150 that I've ever owned.

I traded in a 2018 prius & a 2014 F15 and my lightning platinum outperforms both of those vehicles in everyday. It gets better fuel economy and rides better than my prius did. And as far as being a pickup, it does everything as well as my 2014 did only much much cheaper. I got over 50 mpg with my prius and around 10 mpg with my old F150. I must say though had I needed this truck for long distance traveling or towing which would've required me to use public charging, I definitely wouldn't have purchased it.
@sufficetosay
@sufficetosay Жыл бұрын
I agree with the towing part. If you tow smaller/medium trailers around town it would be great but any distance with a heavy trailer wouldn't be wise imo. I plan on taking my jetski to the lake about 60 miles away and I anticipate zero issues.

It appeals to me. It is the cost. But the Tesla Model X was on my mind. Thus, the Lightning is still on my list. I will have to visit the lot to check out the available markdowns. Although I am spending more time in Ecuador, I will be returning to the US in March to take advantage of the savings. I anticipate purchasing a 2023-2024 ZR2 1500 Bison. Although the miles per gallon of a diesel are what I really want, I do not really want a diesel. So I’m not sure. 😢

Given I still had to order one in Sept 2023 and there was only 1 on the lot in a city of 2.5 million people, I feel all the shitters in the comments are in their echo chambers. Besides, to gain market share, each of these Lightnings have tens of thousands of dollars in them as lost leaders. They cost more to manufacture than buy. It is a great deal for those who don't haul, which here in farming country is 99.5% of Ford F-150 owners. Those that haul, buy themselves the F-250. Not the city truck that the F-150 is. You all act like you can't get a 2024 6.7 power stroke dually 250 from Ford for actual towing.

I drove it. It’s nice! However, and I really hope Ford is listening, it’s about $20-30,000 to much. Especially since it only comes with a 3 year warranty. Are you telling me I need to put $8K down, finance about $80K at over $1000/ month, and the people who built it won’t guarantee it for more than 3 years?
@SeaReverie
@SeaReverie Жыл бұрын
Ok, new idea. Ford rents me the truck for $500/month for 3 years….after that, they get it back, recondition it and the process repeats. It’s affordable for me, it’s income stability for ford, it’s job stability for the Ford employees, and more environmentally friendly for the planet.

@@SeaReverieI just calculated a 36 month lease for an 85k lightning at 5% interest, 8k down, $1000 a month. Not sure where you got $500. For a loan at 72 months, close to $1400 a month with 5% interest. Don’t forget tax, titles, etc. My wife and I considered a Lightning but glad we paid $47k cash for a low mile loaded 21 F150 2.7 XLT. Sport, bedliner, rubber mats, 360 copilot, 20 inch dark wheels, etc, No payments and it will likely serve us well. We’re getting 23mpg in the city.

Bro, I bought a standard range XLT with the 312A package out the door for 55K last week. It was 63k before the ev credit of 7500 which you don't get if you spend more than 80k. If you're putting 8k down and financing 80k, you deserve it.

@@RelaxingWalksUmm, I bought a 2023 XLT with the 312A package with cash for 55k out the door last weekend, Sunday to be specific. I won't have it until January but I will get unlimited mpg because my employeer has free fast chargers which will save me over the average $350 I spend in fuel each month. And bc the 312A package, I can charge my truck at work and then charge my powerwall at home with it. But if you are towing, especially up in the mountains, that is going to serve you far better than any current ev.

That depends on how you're able to purchase it. I'm retired and by trading in both my prius and old F150 I was able to get the price down to around $54k and didn't have to pay any taxes on the tradins. Then using my savings, which were gradually disappearing before my eyes anyway because of our depreciating dollar, I paid off the rest. Now I'm actually putting money back into my pocket everyday with the savings of not supporting those other 2 vehicles.

Average US electric cost is $0.16/kwh so with the extended range battery, $21.28 to go 320 miles. Compare that to the standard V6 AWD F150, 20 MPG combined, 320 miles would take 16 gallons of gas. $3/gallon = $48 To recap, to go 320 miles: F150 Lightning - $21.28 F150 AWD V6 - $48.00

Totay they have a 10 year warranty and over 95% of an ev battery is recycled into another ev battery. The rare metals don't wear out and are too expensive to not reuse. So even a worn out and completely undrivable Lightning will still be worth 1000s just from its battery pack.

@@fredsausage8794I've got to say, even if it lost value significantly, it's still the best F150 that I've ever owned. The only time I ever have to go to the gas station is to get gas for my lawn mower. I'm done changing oil/filters, actually no more brake work either, because with one pedal driving, I seldom touch the brake pedal. Plugging in at home, I never have any worries about having enough range to go anywhere that I need to go. Since I seldom charge to more than 85% and very seldom take my battery below 40% I expect this battery will last me as long as I need it to. Turning 74 next month I have no worries about ever having to replace the battery. And occasionally even at my age the 4 second 0-60 is a lot of fun. I haven't found anyone that aren't in my rear view mirror whenever I want to put them there. And I'm not just talking about other trucks, cars too. Love this truck. One last thing, as a retired electrician, I have my home wired to accept my lightning as a home backup system, just by plugging it in to my main panel, and not using that ridiculously priced, worthless Sunrun system.

There are us out there that are retired, everything paid for with a reasonable savings, that we're tired of all the maintenance headaches associated with ICE vehicles, don't drive too much but still want an economical comfortable vehicle to drive and are looking for a good place to invest our nest egg we worked so hard for. So I traded in my car & truck used my saving to pay off the balance and bought myself a lightning platinum. Well over 20000 people have been waiting for over two years for this truck, including myself. Ford shut down the order books at 200000 Ram Rev shut down orders after two weeks due to exceeding two year production rate. Same thing with Silverado and Sierra. Tesla Cybertruck despite being really ugly has over a million pre orders, The Tesla model Y was the third best selling vehicle on the planet last year and is on pace to be #1 this year. The Tesla model 3 is now the 7th best selling vehicle world wide. EVs are increasing market share by 80% YOY and represent the fastest growing vehicle segment in history. People that purchase and drive EVs are the most likely to stay in that segment than any other vehicle type at over 90% Essentially once you go EV you will never go back. This is a simple educational problem. EVs are superior in 99.8%of the way that Americans use there vehicles. Now what we’re you saying about knowing wants theses?

@@matthewmortensen7401As a lightning owner, I'm rather glad there are so many people that still don't want to own an EV. I don't believe our electrical grid is ready for a mad rush of people owning EV'S. California will be in big trouble as they continue to force EV'S onto everyone. They've already overloaded their electrical grid and will only get worse as more EV'S hit their roads. I do love my F150 lightning.

@willjeff566 Change can be difficult for some people. I know it scares you a bit, but the World, as it always does, is changing. By 2030, the World production of EVs will be 2/3 of all vehicles. This is the future and we can take the challenge head-on, or we can behave like it is the 1950's and cede the entire auto market to the Chinese.

What do you like about driving cars, exactly. Unless it’s tow range, rollin coal, or being loud, pretty sure EVs have your clunker whooped.

I know it can seem that way, but look at the numbers: I traded my 18 Tundra @$26K, got $7500 off, plus another $7500 for the tax break. It costs me (extended range battery) $0.14/kWHr in my town so i can fill up--a weekly occurrence with the Tundra--for about $30 vs $90. I don't need to service the thing. The overall cost of new ownership is only a bit more than a gas truck. Plus it is faster off the blocks than a Porsche. Yeah, the range sucks when using a trailer, but I've hauled cars and it goes way down for a gas truck. Fortunately, I'm a beekeeper so I don't have to haul that much stuff. My apiaries are 20 miles from my home so a recharge is easy. It just makes sense for my work and location. @alexanderkennedy2969

The best feature on this ridiculously silly idea of a truck is that large touch screen. It will keep your eyes off that pesky road and other drivers. We all know that we need more distraction. The price is so good everyone will be able to afford it. Remember, the heavier load and extreme temperatures will increase the driving range. I forgot to mention, it is very clean as we all know the electric it needs comes from pixie dust.

I got the lower trim to keep the normal buttons for radio and a/c. Only 3in difference in screen size. I really still enjoy hitting a button while driving as it is quicker than using the screen.

I own a lightning platinum, best f150 that I've ever owned. Economical, rides like a Cadillac, performs like a sports car, and will power all the critical loads in my home during a power outage. Requires very little maintenance, no gas or oil. Fantastic investment, I've already had several offers to purchase it for $10k plus over the MSRP that I paid for it. I'm 73, possibly the last truck I own, unless they drastically improve this one, I'm very satisfied.

Is there such a thing as masculine electric truck? It doesn’t feel right for some reason. It looks like a truck but lacking the soul of a truck.

I guess you haven't driven one. 0 to 60 in just over 4 seconds. While towing a 7000 lb trailer it will accelerate on the interstate ramp faster than any F150 I've ever owned. 580 hp 750 lb/ft torque and no waiting for either one. When you press the accelerator you have both instantly. This is the most powerful F150 ford has ever made. If you have a problem with range or changing then you purchased the wrong vehicle. Using it locally and charging at home, it's the absolute perfect truck.

Help me out--what affects the resale value of EVs? Most of them are luxury purchases, and if you take a Bentley off the lot it loses $60 in value right there. Is it the EV, or the luxury vehicle? @@onlyme972
