I love this, thanks for sharing! I’m definitely lusting over my neighbor. I seek Godly counsel when ever I sink into that lustful abyss of letting my imagination run wild thinking of him and the Holy Spirit always brings me back to reality. I saw him again last night walking across the street and we were cordial but I fell into that fantasy again thinking about him so much so, I couldn’t even sleep. I just need to move. Thanks again for sharing

Concupiscence (wanting to rebel against God) is sin. Healthy sexual drive is not, but it is often misused for our personal coveting (wanting a relation with whoever I want, whenever I want). But in English, lust can mean both that healthy desire or a sinful (fornicational) concupiscence. 😬 When the Bible condemns lust, it's talking about this latter category.

I have not done the research of if this is biblical. I will leave that for you. But from my understanding, satan can place thoughts in your head but if that thought is sinful and because it's from satan, i would think it would be. But you only commit the sin when you choose to think about that thought in a sinful way. For example, let's say you see a attractive man shirtless and satan places a adulterous thought in your mind, you have not committed adultery unless you accept that thought as your own and therefore start to think about it in a adulteress way. Now once again, I have not done the research to see if this is biblical. Before accepting this information of mine, I highly recommend you doing research to see if it's biblical.

There are times people have said something I would have prefered not to hear, and I remember them later. The remembering likely means it has not be sufficiently dealt with. Peter says to prepare our minds for action; we know these things are coming. Let's ask God how to rethink our response so we can give Him praise.

Of course, it is wrong. This is not questionable. Christians must run away from lustful thoughts. 1st. Corinthians 6.18-19: 18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 👆👆👆This also includes sexual immorality thoughts.

Without watching I can already tell you the truth that yes that is a sin. It’s called Limerence as well and it’s within your heart/mind even without action it’s equal to the action. If you understand the mind/heart/eden garden/reaping & sowing/heaven & inspiration then you’ll fully understand that our inspirational minds are connected to heaven in a way and bringing forth a lustful desire in mind and hanging on to it without repentance is a type of sowing which will reap destruction in the end.

In fairness, "lust" isn't on its own "sin," but the situations lust typically shows up are. "Lust" is a strong desire (with imagery of heavily breathing being a side-effect of one's desire). I'd argue one can "lust his own wife" and still be in right standing with God, but I understand the common vernacular for Christian theology is to consider "lust" as inappropriate sexual desire. It's just a very specific instance of lust.
@SageDigitalProject Жыл бұрын
That's rather accurate and I'm glad you shared that. I'm married, but separated, and one can even lust after his own wife and (because of the improbability of healthily responding to that desire) it be sinful. Lots of dimension on the word lust. Thanks for sharing!

I wonder if we may be going over board in some cases though. I have heard of married couples having sex with the lights off or their clothes on because they do not want to lust after each other. I do not recall any biblical verses about not lusting after your spouse. At some point I wonder if we are going to an extreme that will have the opposite affect and turn people away from the gospel.
@Nothingbutdust_ Жыл бұрын
True! Thank you for bringing it up. I've also wondered for quite some time if it's actually even possible to not lust after someone you're attracted to even before marriage? It's not like couples get married at the first glance or that someone is going to propose right away before they start finding the other person attractive. Seems to me like a lot of Christians preach finding someone attractive equal to lusting. But how many married couples can then say that they didn't find their spouses attractive before they got married when they were still in their dating face!? As a single woman in my 30's, I've known many people I found attractive. Did I hope for marriage with them? Of course. I always desired to get married and that's always been the only reason to even considered dating someone. Dating is for marriage and marriage is for life. That's what I've always thought and believed in. Not all attraction however leads to marriage even if we wanted to. Especially as a woman, there's not much we can do. Maybe men should propose more often if they were attracted to someone but for a woman it's a little difficult. So does that mean that I was lusting after them if I thought they were attractive and hoped for marriage even if it didn't happen? I personally don't think so and it seems like we as Christians are judging each other way too harshly on this issue. I never even fantasized of anything other than marriage even in my youth nor could I be called a promiscuous person by lifestyle. But of course, no one is perfect or without sin, I'm guilty when it comes to lusting as well. But not every situation should be classified as having "sinful" lustful thoughts. It's not a sin to be attracted to someone and have romantic feelings for them when we ultimately hope and desire to get married to them even when it might not work out up until that point.

@@Nothingbutdust_ There's a difference between finding someone attractive and lusting after them though. Attraction is the feeling of being drawn towards someone for qualities you like & want in a person (pretty/handsome face, voice sound, hair style, character traits, quality of actions, etc.). Lust is more about a strong, burning passion and desire. Bloodlust is illustrated in Homeric tails of Achilles, the God of War stories w/ Kratos, and movies like Liam Neeson's Taken. Sexual lust, when warped for evil, turns into rape and "high body counts," but sexual lust is also pretty necessary for procreation in healthy contexts (i.e. marriages [ideally]). Easy to see how lust and attraction relate, but they are definitely distinct. (e.g. I can find a friend attractive without *wanting* her.)

I have great respect for this ministry, and agree with most things said on the topic. However, something said in this video I do not believe is true. That is that a fantasy if not with your wife is automatically sin. People dream things without any control at all. Factors like room temperature, illness, or diet may even play a role. You can't convince people that they are responsible to ask for forgiveness for what happens in their dreams and even the ones you can't remember. You mention that the person is basically fully responsible for this fantasy and is reflective of real life. If this is not what you said then please correct. Most cannot control their dreams and they are often not based in reality. Why does God design us to have sexual dreams in the first place- health reasons, encouraging us to multiple and fill the earth, or other reasons? You mention its sin to imagine something. I disagree. If dreams were reality, its sin. Consciously lusting is different than unconsciously dreaming.
@deanfry879 Жыл бұрын
If the things you mention were in my dreams, I would be asking the Lord where I went off track with giving Him glory (Proverbs 22:14, Amos 7:17a, Romans 1:24, all of which imply our sexual sins are discipline for some other sin). If your mouth speaks in your dreams, it is still out of the overflow of your heart.

@michaelchia6972 Жыл бұрын
Maybe i am not getting the message clearly in this video. But the question sounds like a religious approach. I feel this is why most non believers stay away from christ like mind. Because we should look at deeper than right and wrong. We all make mistakes and we all live in the flesh. Thats understandable for all of us and should not be condemn nor judged. But grace of God will determine what is right and wrong that is why jesus left the holy spirit in you. Believe in it, feed the spirit by inviting it, and it will bring the fruits and the gifts along with it and it be in your nature to turn away from sin. Its that simple. Isiah 45:2 he makes crooked paths straight. Focus on God not on the sin. Focus on the spirit that gives you LIFE!
@SageDigitalProject Жыл бұрын
It is a Christian approach. However, he does touch on "looking deeper than right or wrong." He essentially says, "do what's right, but if you find yourself going back to what is wrong, investigate it - even getting help if you need to." God's Spirit has defined what is right and wrong - through His Word. God's Holy Spirit will never contradict His Holy Word which He inspired. Non believers don't have the Christ-like mind because they have not surrendered to Holy Spirit's sweet call of salvation, and so they cannot receive or understand the truth of Scripture, which results in a religious approach - albeit, your statement seems to infer religious from a negative viewpoint. True religion is about worshipping God through loving Him, and if we love Him we will keep His commands (John 14.15). Love and grace, sir.
@michaelchia6972 Жыл бұрын
@@SageDigitalProject I am on the same page in most especially gods spirit had defined and will lead by what is right. And yes I agree I do look negatively at religion either true or false. Religion is about what I have to do and has become tradition. Gospel is about what I get to do. The old testament is gone, the law of right and wrong. because Christ died for our sins and the new testament began with Acts. And when I read Roman’s chapter 7:4-6, we are released from the law. No longer in condemnation of the law because I had sexual fantasy. But through grace and salvation we serve in the new spirit and not the written code. Maybe if this approach, this Christian approach, speaking life, should be the first to reveal to non believers rather than identifying the law and sin. That is why I have an issue with this question. The question already frames the pavement to a religious approach to those who yet to understand the truth of scripture. But thank you brother, I really am thankful for your feedback in this discussion. Got me more passionate to read the word and again lead to god for more understanding. Thank you!

I John 1:5-10 NKJV [5] This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. [6] If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. [7] But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. [8] If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. [9] If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. [10] If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. I John 2:1-2 NKJV [1] My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. [2] And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. Hebrews 12:4-11 NKJV [4] You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin. [5] And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: “My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; [6] For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.” [7] If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? [8] But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. [9] Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? [10] For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. [11] Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Well said and so true. Most of the people in the comments, including the speaker in the video here are following a false gospel. No one is without sin not one. If we could stop sinning we wouldn't have needed Jesus' sacrifice for us, now would we? When he died on the cross he paid for our sins past, present and future, consequently God the Father does not recognize sin in his true followers any longer.

@@CatT1987 That’s what you are missing in the gospel, those in Christ cannot sin anymore. Not of works. Those that still sin don’t know Christ yet. The Word of God. 1Jn 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
