Is it wrong to be cremated as a Christian?

My husband of 58 years passed away last December. He was a shell after living with Parkinson’s disease and my son wanted him cremated, which we did. I’ve been struggling with guilt and just last night I again asked the Lord to lift my heavy burden. This is in direct answer to my cry. Thank you for posting this timely message. I’m ever so grateful, first of all to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and secondly to you. Now I can finally have peace that passes all understanding.

Amen! So glad you're at peace w/this. :) Ashes to ashes dust to dust. God made man, Adam, from dust of the earth. So from dust to dust, ashes to ashes, we go. It's well okay to be cremated. So sorry for your loss. God Bless you! :)

For sure it’s not a sin,be at piece with God I remember in my mom’s village there was a girl who died in a fire poor girl was burned alive,that means she’s not going to heaven? What was her falț for her death in that fire ? At the resurrection our old bodies will be transformed in new heavenly bodies !!

In the Spanish influenza of 1918, the bodies were burned to prevent the spread of the virus. They are also weren’t enough caskets available for sale. My great grandmother said two and three died in a home on her street. We started from dusk, we go back to dust, whether that process is helped along, or it takes 100 years or so. God has the capability of finding every one of your dust particles and putting them back together at the rapture. 😉

Dust you are & to dust you shall return. God doesn’t need or want the human body once ‘we’ leave the body.

Amen! He will resurrect our bodies at the rapture though, the dead in Christ 1st, then we who are alive, & remain, to have back here on earth when we all come back down to earth w/ Him at His 2nd coming. :)

Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust. Cremation just speeds up the process a bit. We’ve lost Two grown sons. One to accident and one to illness. Both were cremated. They didn’t need those bodies any more.

Our spirit means everything. Our flesh means nothing. Nothing wrong with being cremated. All will be raised to a glorified body when the Lord returns.

Dust to dust is mentioned in Ecclesiastes 3:20, "All are from the dust, and to dust all return." In the Bible, this passage emphasizes that humans and animals … The body goes back to the ground, as the spirit goes on.

It says that the body of man goes to dust and the spirit goes to God but in the animals case the body goes to dust and the soul to the ground. Animals are not resurrected to eternal life. They are temporal graces for this earth and should be cared for as such. There could be animals of sorts in Heaven it only mentions the white horses that we return on -but we return to live on the new earth with animals that have not been a part of the mortal world before the tribulation. Animals have a soul but they are not made in the image of God and do not have the breath of God within them

How about of that millions who were “ cremated “ in the concentration camps in Poland and Germany ,what’s happening with them?they didn’t choose to die and be buried like that ☹️

Why is this still a debate? God can raise anything! People need to think about other things like maybe we are living in the last times?

Amen brother Brian, well said. Personally believe that no matter where the dry bones are, it is not a concern to God for He surely is The Creator and can bring together the dry bones to come back to life. Now as for where the dry bones brought back to life end up in, by the grace of Jesus may it be so that more than not the drybones end up in Paradise and not in hell where they will end up being destroyed but at that time being forever. God have mercy on unbeleiving souls.

It doesn't matter how you dispose of the old Tabernacle, or old Wine skin. Its not a sin. Believeing that there is not a new body, and resurrection is a sin.

Christ was buried, so it's not wrong, either is cremation.

GOD ALMIGHTY CREATED THE UNIVERSE. IF I AM SCATERED INTO THE OUTER SPACE I WILL BE CREATED AS PROMISED AGIAN. God's chosen people tended to follow a natural process and not incineration. The pagan groups around them thought burning to be the way to go. Even as far as burning children in sacrifice to their demon gods, which is condemned in the Scriptures. Many practices aren't spelled out but the examples are still there.

God created Adam from the dirt of the earth. From the dirt, to ashes. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, as it's said. It's okay to cremate for sure. my mother coming from her Protestant up bringing had to be buried, not me! Cremate me away. :) God Bless! :)
