Well done! I think Calafiori should be a top priority for Man United this summer. He is originally a left back, and can play alongside with Lisandro Martinez or replace him when Martinez is injured. Ideally I would like to sign someone like Mittelstadt as well, but with Calafiori it's not needed and we can spend on right footed center back.

In my opinion, I'd say united should sign aaron anselmino and figure out how to also sign todibo from nice. These two are more than enough and would cost less combined than branthwaite. Our cb options will be licha, todibo, kambwala, anselmino and evans for next season. Calafiori is also a good option but he's headed to juve I think. As for full backs, sign geertruida as he's a rb.

If Branthwaite plays LB and move to LCB in a back 3, there will be a lack of balance on the left when we attack because there'll be no LB to overlap and provide that left foot. Does it mean we need to shop for a left-footed LCM to offer that balance?

I personally don't see what the fuss is about with Branthwaite. I looked at his FBREF complete scouting report and his passing metrics was genuinely awful. Same with possession metrics. Taking stats out of the equation, why are we linked with Branthwaite, a lefty? When we have Licha and Varane who's a righty has left us? We need a righty. We are falling into a expensive trap like we did with Mount. Paying over the odds on a passport.

Not really, he’s at Everton under Dyche which is why you have to factor that into his on the ball metrics. You need a LCB who can play a left back, alongside a RCB. Calafiori and Branthwaite could play any of those 3 positions

Especially not for the £60m-£70m it would take to pry him from Everton. Getting Branthwaite for a progressive system is essentially a blind punt. I personally don't get the fanfare with him.

Branthwaite, at 50+ mill., has too many flaws, in my opinion, especially technical skills. First touch is bad, dribbling is not good enough, passing is not good enough. His defending is good, has to be in a side like Everton. But at european level and potentially champions league level, if he goes to United. At 50+ mill. there are just better options, like Diomande, Anselmino, Ignacio, as mentioned in the video Calafiori. Todibo should also still be a target. But many other better technical skilled options, Maxence Lacroix, Piero Hincapie, Cristhian Mosquera, and if it has to be british, Callum Doyle is a better skilled defender than Branthwaite. At 50+ mill. the buying of a CB has to be spot on. Today is not good to enough just to be a good defender.

Also, the likes of brazilian Murilo; Pace, interceptions, aerial duels, bravery, technique. Belgian Zeno Debast. 17/18 yo world class talent Jorrel Hato, Holland (similar to Murilo skills). Robert Renan, brazilian world class talent, flair, agility, dribbling, athleticism, pace, vision, interceptions. United really must due dilligence on getting a ball playing defender. Setup a list of skill demands, then scout for the one who checks most of in the list.

If they do want to purchase 3 centre backs and play like City and Arsenal do, I'd prefer Bastoni for that. All in all, get Calafiori or Inacio as Martinez' rotation/competition because we may not need to spend more than 45M for either
