We need to stop focusing so much on Tatums performance and actually give some flowers to J. Brown. Yes he had problems with TOs…yes he made questionable decisions but man he was more of a dog than Tatum….It was frustrating when they were games Brown rallied the team to a dope win but they would talk bout how Tatum did instead.

I agree Brown showed more heart and a lot more grit in the finals, I honestly didn’t see The Celtics play that much during the regular season, so once they got to the finals I wanted to see what all the hype was about especially Tatum, but I found that Brown and Smart seemed really hungry for it and Tatum seemed tu buckle under the pressure. But over all they were a good team I mean their first win over warriors was really something, but they definitely need to be more consistent.

It depends on where you rank Jayson Tatum. If you have him as a superstar, then the Finals exposed him as overrated. No, his age can't be used as an excuse. 24 years old isn't that young considering that he has multiple Eastern Conference Finals appearances. Besides, you can't make the All-NBA 1st Team, label him a superstar, but then give him a pass for his awful series. Kobe Bryant was crucified for 2004. LeBron James was crucified for 2011. Stephen Curry was crucified for 2016. They eventually redeemed themselves. Tatum will have the chance to do so.

The term superstar gets tossed around and given too casually these days. Tatum is a great player; however, the Finals showed us that he has another ceiling to break before reaching superstar status. He doesn't deserve all the slander because his Finals performance isn't the only reason they lost -- other Celtics players played poorly (i.e., turnovers) or below their capabilities. Tatum is a great player and will be a superstar in the league one day. He was also missing in action in the brightest/biggest stage (the Finals). Both statements can be true.

The one thing the finals proved to me was that Tatum is not the best player under 25. I didn't believe he was but a lot of people did. A lot of the complaints you had on tatum was really more of a testament to what the warriors did defensively. Tatum, while being an all nba level player, still has his own weaknesses. You harp on him not being able to pass on certain situations but those passes aren't really open for a lot of dudes in the nba. Not everyone has the passing acumen of a lebron or a luka. It's easy to nitpick when you're watching in slow motion and can replay plays over and over. The warriors knew that tatum is more of a scorer than a playmaker and they exploited that on defense.

You know this whole “youth argument” you hear gets old. At this point Jayson Tatum has been in the league for 5 years was 1 game away from the finals AS A ROOKIE. Either you get it and grow up or just don’t. Pretty soon athletes will be in their 30’s and we still talking about “he’s young, he’ll learn.” There’s no guarantee if Tatum and the Celtics will ever come this close to the finals again. That’s what I can’t stand about the whole youth argument. Look at the suns lmao P.S. there’s levels to “Skill” as you saw in these playoffs. It’s much more than just a pretty jumper, cute step back, or nice euro. You gotta have a brain as well lmao. Boston and Tatum just played overall with low IQ’s on the court. Maybe it’s Tatum not being able to side step his way outta it or “youth” but whatever

Wow, @Yung Mustard comes through with another amazing analysis that we NEVER get from the mainstream news media. I really felt like Jayson Tatum was the main reason the Boston Celtics lost the NBA Finals. Why didn't Ime Udoka recognize what worked in Game 1 and gameplan more of that? Clearly, the Warriors had Tatum locked up, so it's a huge mystery why the Celtics kept going to Jayson play after play after play (which usually ended in a miss, a turnover, or a jump ball). 🤦

The only people who oversell players are the media. Sometimes, one game is enough for these media people to sell a player's name hard. They label players who get triple doubles as a megastar immediately but will not relinquish it if said player ends up playing ridiculously bad as a whole. For them, it's like one great game balances a season full of blunders.

I remember noticing that Tatum was hitting a lot of really bad shots during the Celtics run to the finals. I think I commented at the time that eventually he would start missing those bad shots and that happened in the finals. When every prayer shot you take is going in I think you start to think that it's going to happen continually and when it doesn't you don't have anything to fall back on. He started missing those bad shots in the paint and at the mid-range level and it was a big part of the Celtics losing the series

I think after a couple games Andrew Wiggins really got into Jason Tatum's head. The play that you're talking about with 7:30 going on this video where Tatum has got Steph I think you didn't mention that Wiggins is there in the help position. At that point Tatum should have given it up. Horford was wide open for three. Instead he took a very ill advised shot. Also it's a 12-point game and they have the chance to put it into single digits and instead Golden State ends up getting a basket on the other end.

He is overrated and not consistent but it's a lot of these so called Stars of todays NBA that don't have that. The play of todays players would get you benched if you were to do what they do in games in high school. The scoring droughts of both teams because their so focused on the three. You killed me when you said Steph is good at getting steals. This is horrible basketball and both teams are the example of poor skilled knowledge of how to read defense which most of the time didn't play or didn't have too because they don't know anything but try for the three. Tatum is 6'10 and plays like a 5,5 guy exception they are why quicker!! The talls to day don't know how to post!!
