Niggas forget that when Jaylen brown got hurt in 2021, Tatum had to carry heavily & that 2021 Celtics roster weren’t that well constructed. Brad Wannmaker, Tristan Thompson, Smart, Kemba Walker who was starting to decline due to injuries, Semi Ojeleye, Romeo Langford, literally those were his teammates before 2022 finals run. even before that yea they were loaded but Kyrie & Hayward were hurt & were the underdogs that year during Tatum’s rookie year in the playoffs since no one thought they would just lose in the 1st round. Here are Tatum's top teammates by games played together in his career: Jaylen Brown - 506 Marcus Smart - 433 Al Horford - 378 Grant Williams - 318 Daniel Theis - 281 Semi Ojeleye - 272 Payton Pritchard - 260 Robert Williams - 246 Derrick White - 194 Terry Rozier - 183 Where is the superteam in this list? There are 0 HoF guys here. Brown has made 3 all star games, and Horford 5. That's it. Other thoughts: Kyrie - Got hurt Tatum's rookie year and that team went to ECF game 7 against Lebron Cavs starting: Tatum, Brown, Rozier, Horford, Marcus Morris. Superteam? Kyrie also plays with Luka right now, yet Luka gets credit for carrying a bad roster. Porzingis - Completely forgotten player until he joined Tatum, now he's considered #3 on a superteam? What did Luka accomplish with Porzingis (and Jalen Brunson)? Grant Williams - started 5 playoff games during the 2022 Celtics finals run. But Grant was worthless to Luka in Dallas. Again, how can you say Luka has had terrible rosters but Tatum has had great ones? Why do players so consistently do better with Tatum than with Luka? Jrue - Was traded by the Bucks for an upgrade. Durant. He hasn't been past the second round since he left the Warriors and he's been swept twice in the past 3 years. However, unlike Embiid, at least he's actually led a team to the Finals and multiple conference Finals, and in a tougher conference, no less. He's more available than Embiid, puts up numbers similar to Embiid's, and has maintained those numbers throughout most of his playoff career whereas Embiid has not. He also has an MVP award, but one that is less arguable than Embiid's. He is a better passer/playmaker than Embiid, more All-Star selections, All-NBA selections, etc.

People undervalue versatility, and Tatum is the most versatile player in the NBA. Guys like Luka will put up more impressive individual stats, because he has a specialized skillset and a team that maximizes his abilities. This also makes guys like Luka less compatible with other good players. Porzingis has a very unique skillset, but when he was on Dallas he had to play to Luka's strengths. In Boston, Porzingis plays to his own strengths while Tatum picks up the slack wherever it is needed. This is why Tatum consistently wins more.

In 2020 we had Theis as the only big on the roster, and Jaylen was not averaging what he's averaging now. Not to mention the Jays were 22 and 23 years old. In the 21 playoffs Brown was injured. In 2019 we had Kyrie shooting 42% from the field against the bucks, the only actual good rosters we had were from 2022 onwards. Plus Embiid, Jokic, Giannis never had real success in the playoffs before winning mvps. SGA, Anthony Edwards, Embiid, are considered mvp candidates with no success in the playoffs, but when it's about Tatum, playing sub park in the FINALS is held against him, the inconsistency is insane. And I don't even care about this stuff but people just start lying when it comes to JT.

Most fans have zero concept of impact on a basketball game aside from per game averages. Tatum's defense is above everyone else in MVP talks aside from MAYBE Giannis... Tatum is not even in the top 15 of usage rate - so are people going to knock Tatum for that? There is a reason Luka is the 7th seed in the west - he doesn't defend or play winning basketball. Tatum's efficiency has gone up - rebounding and assisting has gone up, his plus-minus is better than anyone else in the MVP race. Casuals can stay casual, I think Giannis has been the best 2-way player in the league for the last 5-6 years, but Tatum WILL surpass him very soon. All that said - Tatum should be 3rd/4th in MVP voting, its all about what you value more... high usage rate or team success - they almost never culminate together. Don't even get me started on availability... Any player who misses more than 10-15 games more than another player should NEVER be above them in MVP voting... People need to put a premium on games played - YOU CANNOT PROVIDE VALUE IF YOU ARENT IN THE MF GAME... There is a reason Tatum has led the league in TOTAL points over the last few years... A few things: 1) Derrick Rose absolutely deserved to be the 2011 MVP. He led the Bulls to the best record in the entire league over more talented teams, including LeBron's, while carrying his team's offense without either of his two best teammates for most of the season and putting up great numbers all at the age of 22. 2) Your claim that Luka elevates everyone around him is questionable. He elevates the role players around him like THJ, Derrick Lively, and Dwight Powell, but not players like Kyrie, Jalen Brunson, or Porzingis. The latter two actually flourished away from Luka. 3) The likes of Giannis, Luka, and Embiid may be better individually than Tatum, but he does have certain things over them; he has outplayed both Giannis and Embiid in the playoffs multiple times, and he has led his team to more success than Luka has.

Let’s get this factually correct- Tatum has never said that voters are using his Finals performance as ammunition to not give him a first place vote for MVP. These aren’t his own thoughts, he’s simply responding to ESPN Brian Windhorst, who said on ESPN, that some voters will use his finals performance as an argument for why he’s not worthy of being MVP. I think for you to not disclose that information seems to be purposeful and disingenuous, which goes to show that you and your audience do not really listen or watch the game of basketball. That being said, it is highly unlikely that Tatum will win MVP this year, however he has every right to fall out pre-conceived judgments based on previous performances. If the Celtics win a chip this year, it’ll be interesting to see how Tatum is treated in MVP voting for next year.

Also to clarify what he said about mvp, he said individual awards are important and he would like to win them but ultimately the pursuit of a championship takes precedence over such things. The only Allstar he had on his roster is Brown in the last two seasons, he had Kyrie for a season, who was shooting 42% from the field against the bucks in 2019 and wanted to leave. Not to mention JT was 22 and Brown 23 at that time. Plus Embiid, SGA, and Luka never had significant success in the playoffs, except for Luka two years ago. Tatum is in fact a top 5 player in the most stacked league, and can be a n1 option on a championship team, Jordan, Shaq, Lebron, Curry never won until 27/28, not comparing them to JT, but he has had more playof success than the best of them, only 25 still, 2-way player, very underrated defender if you watch, you'll know, but these casuals are gonna always talk shit due to not being able to objectively analyze anything.
