If the gladiator fails its definitely due to dealerships mark-ups at a pivotal time when it was released. This is extremely sad. People wanted the gladiator to succeed. I wanted one until I saw prices at dealerships.

I agree they should have priced them more aggressively and they would have sold. They should have been priced closer to other mid-size trucks. There was a Jeep Tax put on the mid size truck because it was a Wrangler. They could have sold a lot more of them if they had treated it as a truck.

The dealerships are to blame for the Gladiator lower sales in the US Market. Price gouging turned people off. I bought a 23 left over 7 months ago with thirteen thousand dollar discount. I wasn’t buying a 24 with a thirty thousand dollar dealer markup. That’s insane. Now all of the Jeep dealerships in my area are stuck with blue hook wranglers that no one wants.😜 As soon as the V6 models come in they’re gone. Stalantas doesn’t have a clue what Jeep customers want & I guess they don’t care either. That will ultimately lead to their demise. Let’s hope they sell the Jeep brand to someone that will make & care about what us passionate Jeep lovers want.

@skicreative432 ай бұрын
Love the channel, but a few comments though. 1) I disagree that the Gladiator will be discontinued. It’s built on the same platform as the Ram 1500, that is supposed to be getting the STLA Frame architecture, which is the new Ramcharger. That platform has an ICE engine, but it drives a generator to charge the batteries, the ICE has nothing connecting to the wheels to move the truck. I bet a dozen rubber duckies, you will see the next gen Gladiator on this platform. Personally, going this way for electrification is what should be the main push, at least for the US market. It fits what you defined as this “transition period” we are living through. I would jump at the chance of getting something like this. It really is the best of both worlds. 2) I get your hate for parent companies of Jeep doing them dirty, but I would like to point it’s no longer FCA, it's Stellantis. I would argue FCA was probably the BEST parent company of Jeep, maybe ever. When FCA controlled Jeep led by Sergio Marchionne you got all the cool stuff you mentioned: Challengers, Chargers, Hellcats, and love to the Jeep brand with some actual innovations with the JL and JT platforms. It's only when, Sergio passed away and FCA was merged with Peugeot to create Stellantis, when things went downhill. Personally, I blame the Peugeot, which was mainly a French company for screwing everything up, and fun fact this has already happened to Jeep in the past! Back in the day, when Renault took over Jeep for a time, did Jeep almost again get killed off. I’m sure the French make perfectly fine cars for their country, but they have no frickin clue when it comes to selling in the American market. My qualification for being on this soapbox: I live in the birthplace of Jeep, Toledo, Ohio, and drive a 2020 JT. My father worked at Jeep for 30 years and I would remember him telling me horror stories about Renault managers coming into the plant to “make things better” only to cause a crap ton more problems. FYI, Daimler wasn’t that far off on the "making things better" chaos, either. Lovingly, longtime fan of the channel! P.S. I love my JT, you get the fun of a Wrangler, with the utility of a pickup. What more could you want!
@BT-gv7pi2 ай бұрын

And I can tell you firsthand that I have never in my career seen an OEM slide downhill as quickly as CDJR. dealer sentiments went from this brand is awesome, to “holy crap What are we gonna do” in a matter of years. These dealers who have multiple million dollars, tied up in buildings, franchises, parts and inventory, Are all terrified of the lack of future they see. those in charge don’t seem to give a damn. The president of Stellanris is on borrowed time, everybody knows, it’s just a matter of when he gets replaced, not if. That will be Stellantis’s last breath of air. If they do it right, perhaps they can pull out of this nightmare. If they do it wrong, they’re gonzo.

The batteries won't be hanging off the bottom. The 4xe's batteries are under the passenger seat and a fully electric version would put them under the passenger seat and extending into the cargo area where they will be safe from damage. The real problem is range. They might say a fully electric wrangler can go 600 miles on a full charge but that is under ideal conditions on flat ground. Not the terrain a jeep driver is going to take his vehicle on. So how do you have enough charge to go anywhere challenging? They have not solved that problem yet.

One danger that could happen is Jeep gets sold to a firm from a place like China like Rover. The best ideal situation is that it gets bought by an American firm and becomes it's own exclusive brand free of being owned from even any of the big three domestic brands. Unfortunately simplicity make for more reliability and environmental laws will never allow that to bring any future vehicle to be as reliable as an old school jeep. However, offering an option with less of the needless bells and whistles could help. Jeep needs an American guy with the passion for making an off road vehicle like the British guy who owns Ineos but the added passion to make it affordable instead of exclusively making it specifically for the high end market.

Just got a new Gladiator. If Jeep drops the Gladiator when it’s time to trade, my Gladiator will be worth more, if Jeep still made it. Just look at what happened to used prices of th FJ.

I was at the jeep dealership the other day. They had a Compass in the showroom. While I was waiting for my regular oil change, I looked at new model's to kill time. The salesguy came over, popped open the trunk of the Compass, I replied, where's the spare tire ? He said, oh, you don't get one in this Compass, you only get a can of fix-a-flat ! WTF man ! How chinsey ! Chrysler/ Fiat you guy's suck !

I know 1st hand that the Jeep plant is down to minimal production. As I was just laid off due to lack of work with the Jeep plant as were many others. The JT I foresee to go bye bye. Only two weeks production per month. As for the JL line, that is down to one shift only with possible slow downs due to lack of sales. I may be relocating just outside Albany NY myself for a better life opportunity..

Man I hate you lost your job could you give me your honest opinion of the gladiator I’m getting ready to retire and just want one more new truck love the gladiator night hawk. Just need to haul a few things I. The back no off-roading except to the duck blind. Back in 87 I passed by the factory. They had 2 jeeps that looked like they were crawling the wall. So cool got back home and bought one. Hope your fortunes turn around. Best of luck

@@user-og9nr1fd9y I'll find something soon I'm sure. Now the Gladiator would be ok for your usage, even light trail riding. Once you start doing lifts and bigger tires it strains everything. Knew one guy go through three engines in his Wrangler but had huge tires and lifted.

I am not a fan of a EV Jeep, so one question. When will they put EV charging stations in the back country?

I lusten to this earlier today, just heard this afternoon Stellantis is going to shut down Jeep/ Ram/ Dodge/ Chrysler permanently …. Financially they do not see profitability of the brand. Who will buy jeep?

The Chinese, sadly. It almost happened a few years ago. Jeep will be a Chinese brand like Volvo soon is my guess.

The electric vehicle will slowly die and be replaced by super efficient hybrids. Wrangler will always have solid axle front ends.

There is a lot of truth in your video. I have owned several Jeeps and currently still own 2 of them. These are the Jeeps that I have owned and no longer have: '97 TJ Wrangler, '15 Cherokee (2wd), '18 JLUR (JL Unlimited Rubicon), '20 JTR (Gladiator Rubicon), '21 JLU Sahara 4xe (Hybrid), and '22 Grand Cherokee 4xe. I still currently own a '10 JKU, and a '22 JLUR 392. The last Jeep I bought was the 392 (used) and it may be the very last Jeep that I will buy because I think that Jeeps have become overpriced and they are pushing EVs and hybrids. The hybrids are great for power and fuel economy BUT the power delivery was NOT very smooth transitioning to EV to gas or to both EV/gas. I will tell you that the power delivery of the 392 is smooth and instant, something Jeep has not figured out yet in their hybrids. Even buying my 392 used was pricey and I don't think that Jeep will survive unless they drop their prices dramatically OR start building basic Jeeps without all the fancy options. Jeep and other auto manufacturers are pricing themselves out of the market. Stellantis and Jeep need to part ways in order for Jeep to survive as Jeep, not as a shared platform vehicle that most manufacturers do. I do miss my Gladiator and my '18 JLUR. NEITHER had the hybrid or diesel powerplants but a reliable, underpowered internal combustion engine. The Gladiator definitely needed more power and for Jeep to put a 392 or a higher horsepower in the Gladiator would revive sales of that dying model.

The base Gladiator should be priced the same as the Nissan Frontier. The plus should be the top comes off. I understand the Rubicon would be more expensive. However it should not be priced as high as it i now. Jeep has over priced there models past what their blue collar customers can afford.

I understand how Solaris did not help Jeep. Everyone forgets how much government regulations have also helped out with the destruction of the brand.

Hand crank- i'll tell you - this cuts a lot of weight off the door- and i'll bet the price goes up now- same with the engine/trans change- the v6 is better engine- but the 392 is a road beast- so they are about to switch to a mall crawler standard. As for the Gladiator- i remember when they announced it - i was very excited- but then they overpriced it- and then they started the overpriced the full lot..as for hybrids- will not drive one of the drive-able battery fires..

Yes, it's sad. As a die-hard Jeeper here, I just want to throw up. They are running the playbook to bankrupt this company, along with Dodge. They must be out of their minds getting rid of the auto on the 3.6L's. I do have to say the 3.6L is a good motor, and the 4.0L was a great motor. The only thing better was for someone to swap an engine for a V8. RIP #Jeep. I'm just going to keep my 2020 Jeep Gladiator and when it dies I'll throw in a V8.

I wouldn't buy a wrangler without a manual, so this wouldn't effect me... but at the current prices, I wouldn't buy one regardless. I also laugh at the thought of the Tacoma with a manual. Sure, they technically offer one. But good luck getting your hands on one with toyota's allocation system.

@americanrambler49722 ай бұрын
Hay Mahindra? Time to dust off your Roxor, tweak it a little bit and re issue it targeting the real Jeep crowd. Build it in Michigan in the soon to be empty Toledo Jeep plants. When Jeep sues them, they get to say that Stellantis stopped building jeeps and no longer can rightfully claim the trade dress ownership because they abandoned it. So they departed a market to be plugged by them.
@nickh4022 ай бұрын
Slow, painful death of a loved set of brands. Stellantis has no idea what the American/US market wants, but we can also look to US government manufacturing regulations to see the same thing. For some reason, even in semi trucks, the state government is forcing EV sales as part of a plan to 100% phase out gas powered vehicles. So, if manufacturers want to have an addressable market, they have to make the changes to meet that regulatory environment.
