If the gladiator fails its definitely due to dealerships mark-ups at a pivotal time when it was released. This is extremely sad. People wanted the gladiator to succeed. I wanted one until I saw prices at dealerships.

I agree they should have priced them more aggressively and they would have sold. They should have been priced closer to other mid-size trucks. There was a Jeep Tax put on the mid size truck because it was a Wrangler. They could have sold a lot more of them if they had treated it as a truck.

The dealerships are to blame for the Gladiator lower sales in the US Market. Price gouging turned people off. I bought a 23 left over 7 months ago with thirteen thousand dollar discount. I wasn’t buying a 24 with a thirty thousand dollar dealer markup. That’s insane. Now all of the Jeep dealerships in my area are stuck with blue hook wranglers that no one wants.😜 As soon as the V6 models come in they’re gone. Stalantas doesn’t have a clue what Jeep customers want & I guess they don’t care either. That will ultimately lead to their demise. Let’s hope they sell the Jeep brand to someone that will make & care about what us passionate Jeep lovers want.

jeep lost their way when they came out with the patriot and compass. they had everything then, solid axle wranglers, libertys, cherokees and grand cherokees. they were affordable. then they come out with some small cookie cutter looks like every other box on the road. suburban moms started buying them all up and its been downhill ever since. there is zero reason a wrangler should ever cost more than $35K off the lot. yet here we are. everything is geared towards cushy soccer moms getting little timmy to the game, while they order their starbucks and carress their heated steering wheels....

Love the channel, but a few comments though. 1) I disagree that the Gladiator will be discontinued. It’s built on the same platform as the Ram 1500, that is supposed to be getting the STLA Frame architecture, which is the new Ramcharger. That platform has an ICE engine, but it drives a generator to charge the batteries, the ICE has nothing connecting to the wheels to move the truck. I bet a dozen rubber duckies, you will see the next gen Gladiator on this platform. Personally, going this way for electrification is what should be the main push, at least for the US market. It fits what you defined as this “transition period” we are living through. I would jump at the chance of getting something like this. It really is the best of both worlds. 2) I get your hate for parent companies of Jeep doing them dirty, but I would like to point it’s no longer FCA, it's Stellantis. I would argue FCA was probably the BEST parent company of Jeep, maybe ever. When FCA controlled Jeep led by Sergio Marchionne you got all the cool stuff you mentioned: Challengers, Chargers, Hellcats, and love to the Jeep brand with some actual innovations with the JL and JT platforms. It's only when, Sergio passed away and FCA was merged with Peugeot to create Stellantis, when things went downhill. Personally, I blame the Peugeot, which was mainly a French company for screwing everything up, and fun fact this has already happened to Jeep in the past! Back in the day, when Renault took over Jeep for a time, did Jeep almost again get killed off. I’m sure the French make perfectly fine cars for their country, but they have no frickin clue when it comes to selling in the American market. My qualification for being on this soapbox: I live in the birthplace of Jeep, Toledo, Ohio, and drive a 2020 JT. My father worked at Jeep for 30 years and I would remember him telling me horror stories about Renault managers coming into the plant to “make things better” only to cause a crap ton more problems. FYI, Daimler wasn’t that far off on the "making things better" chaos, either. Lovingly, longtime fan of the channel! P.S. I love my JT, you get the fun of a Wrangler, with the utility of a pickup. What more could you want!

Transition period? Are you referring to the attempt at FORCING the car buying public into the EV scam? 6.8% of the market, that's what electric vehicles are. People don't want them. Sorta like the J A B. You know, trust the science!? Besides, who wants a jeep full of heavy batteries?

The Gladiator absolutely does NOT share the platforms with the Ram 1500. It’s not even close. From the rear doors forward it is nearly identical to a Wrangler JLU and from there back it is unique for the JT platform.

I have worked in the automotive industry for over 20 years. The company I work for currently i deal with dealers of pretty much every OEM you can imagine. And I can tell you firsthand that I have never in my career seen an OEM slide downhill as quickly as CDJR. dealer sentiments went from this brand is awesome, to “holy crap What are we gonna do” in a matter of years. These dealers who have multiple million dollars, tied up in buildings, franchises, parts and inventory, Are all terrified of the lack of future they see. those in charge don’t seem to give a damn. The president of Stellanris is on borrowed time, everybody knows, it’s just a matter of when he gets replaced, not if. That will be Stellantis’s last breath of air. If they do it right, perhaps they can pull out of this nightmare. If they do it wrong, they’re gonzo.

Very interesting about the idle defect on the pentastar. V6, considering the fact that pretty much every taxi company in the United States has used Dodge Chrysler minivans with that same Pentastar V6 in them for decades. My ex partner had one that had 300,000 miles on it when she bought it from an auction. I would venture to say taxis do more idling than police vehicles because the shifts are longer.

Great insight. I only bought a Jeep Willys Wrangler 3.6 liter engine 2024 model with a manual transmission because it is an American icon brand that I love. This model with a manual transmission can basically be only purchased if ordered. I waited 5 months for my four door model. Today with the enormous inventory build up, the chances of ordering a manual transmission is almost non existing. The best thing that can happen to Jeep is to be sold to a company that truly understands the American 4 wheel market.

I had the transmission out 3x in 80k for clacking throwout bearings. 3rd time out seemed to be the fix for my woes as I went with a full hydro setup from Centerforce and a B&M shifter to keep the shifter from popping out of gear in rough offroad. One danger that could happen is Jeep gets sold to a firm from a place like China like Rover. The best ideal situation is that it gets bought by an American firm and becomes it's own exclusive brand free of being owned from even any of the big three domestic brands. Unfortunately simplicity make for more reliability and environmental laws will never allow that to bring any future vehicle to be as reliable as an old school jeep. However, offering an option with less of the needless bells and whistles could help. Jeep needs an American guy with the passion for making an off road vehicle like the British guy who owns Ineos but the added passion to make it affordable instead of exclusively making it specifically for the high end market.

The batteries won't be hanging off the bottom. The 4xe's batteries are under the passenger seat and a fully electric version would put them under the passenger seat and extending into the cargo area where they will be safe from damage. The real problem is range. They might say a fully electric wrangler can go 600 miles on a full charge but that is under ideal conditions on flat ground. Not the terrain a jeep driver is going to take his vehicle on. So how do you have enough charge to go anywhere challenging? They have not solved that problem yet.

Anyone who grew up with Dukes of Hazzard could tell the Jeep has been dead a long time. I gave the JL a shot, which even as a two door, with 18k miles, was crazy in price. You wonder why Jeep is moving on? It's because people don't know what a Jeep is, just what the modern day usage is, with the hard-top buttoned up tighter than a brazier on the first date when you were a teenage boy...when people compliment a basic, open Jeep it's because there are none, or few of them anymore, except in the magazines. When people see my Jeep, they ask questions like, aren't you afraid you will ruin the interior? What if you get dust or dirt inside? What if it gets wet? Are you serious right now? One guy pointed out I had leaves inside. I replaced a 2023 Tacoma with this, and I love it. It feels more classic, real. It has screens, but you can turn the main one off, and adjust the brightness of the ENTIRE interior to take in the sunset. People don't want that experience anymore, like most things, they want to pretend they are. Like the Off-Road truck loaded with gear you see struggling to squeeze through the McDonalds drive thru. I've never been off road yet, but everyday, it's open, rain or shine. (I do have a Bimini top) and it's fun. Isn't that what it's supposed to be? We lost the thread.

The base Gladiator should be priced the same as the Nissan Frontier. The plus should be the top comes off. I understand the Rubicon would be more expensive. However it should not be priced as high as it i now. Jeep has over priced there models past what their blue collar customers can afford.

Hay Mahindra? Time to dust off your Roxor, tweak it a little bit and re issue it targeting the real Jeep crowd. Build it in Michigan in the soon to be empty Toledo Jeep plants. When Jeep sues them, they get to say that Stellantis stopped building jeeps and no longer can rightfully claim the trade dress ownership because they abandoned it. So they departed a market to be plugged by them.

I wouldn't buy a wrangler without a manual, so this wouldn't effect me... but at the current prices, I wouldn't buy one regardless. I also laugh at the thought of the Tacoma with a manual. Sure, they technically offer one. But good luck getting your hands on one with toyota's allocation system.

Slow, painful death of a loved set of brands. Stellantis has no idea what the American/US market wants, but we can also look to US government manufacturing regulations to see the same thing. For some reason, even in semi trucks, the state government is forcing EV sales as part of a plan to 100% phase out gas powered vehicles. So, if manufacturers want to have an addressable market, they have to make the changes to meet that regulatory environment.

Chryslers best bet would be to actually break off and go independent at this point. Axe the chrysler brand and just move the pacifica to the dodge brand. The jeep brand is really losing its reputation, i know 3 people who recently traded in grand cherokees (19 and newer) due to all the problems they were having. 2 of them only half way through warranty, didnt care traded it in anyways. Meanwhile my 08 hemi grand cherokee is just chillin without a care in the world at 137k miles.

Yes, it's sad. As a die-hard Jeeper here, I just want to throw up. They are running the playbook to bankrupt this company, along with Dodge. They must be out of their minds getting rid of the auto on the 3.6L's. I do have to say the 3.6L is a good motor, and the 4.0L was a great motor. The only thing better was for someone to swap an engine for a V8. RIP #Jeep. I'm just going to keep my 2020 Jeep Gladiator and when it dies I'll throw in a V8.

Hand crank- i'll tell you - this cuts a lot of weight off the door- and i'll bet the price goes up now- same with the engine/trans change- the v6 is better engine- but the 392 is a road beast- so they are about to switch to a mall crawler standard. As for the Gladiator- i remember when they announced it - i was very excited- but then they overpriced it- and then they started the overpriced the full lot..as for hybrids- will not drive one of the drive-able battery fires..

I was just thinking the other day that ford should buy jeep. They made them during the 40s they could do it again. They could even brag about “ saving an American icon and saving American jobs. The would have a nice chunk of the wheeler market between jeep and the bronco. I mean they can’t do any worse than stellantis,!hopefully they wouldn’t ecoboost everything and design an ice engine for them.

That depends on which Gladiator trim. Off-road suspensions tend to have lower payload ratings. But a Gladiator Sport S is rated for 1725 lbs vs. 1600 lbs for the Ridgeline. So not sure what point you're trying to make.

I’m not a Jeep owner but even I can spot the problems befalling Jeep. The company is owned by a ginormous Euro holding company and the CEO is. Euro who doesn’t understand the American market. He thinks all Americans are crazy rich and have no problem dropping $45k on a morphing luxury car with huge off road tires. I live in SoCal and can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a Tesla. Soccer moms driving the large 4 door unlimited version around town. Add the dealers mark ups and it is just beyond the reach of most Americans. An effort hads to ne made to adjust focus and work with the short sighted UAW and make simpler, more reliable Jeeps. They should take a page from Toyota’s playbook. And don’t get me started on the Wagoneer.

Having toyota cheap truck options in the US is not about the big bad government stopping what we want. Allowing toyota and honda and nesson to come here was a huge mistake. Not oinly have they been allowed to sell their products here but now they are allowed to build them too. Their factories are "trade free zones" where they import steel and parts made in asia without duty tax and have workers assemple the vehicle here and say it was "manufactured" here to get around even more duty taxes and the workers arent allowed to unionize as a result, make less than UAW employees. But you say, "if i can get better quality that way, i dont care." But the result is just what we see going on at Stalantis, jeeps parent company. They dont care about the American brands under their banner. They want to sell mazarattis and even have reskinned a mazareatti and put a badge in it saying "Hornet" thinking americans were going to lap them up. Only they are sitting on lots by the thousands. The corporate greed we have seen in the past has outdone itself at Stalantis. We dont need Japanese or Chinese vehicles as we are starting to hear people cry for, they wont do anything to fix the car climate in north America. We need americans to own the american car companies and americans to buy american. Stop giving money to comoanies like stalantis, toyota and Honda.
