I left Korea last year after living there for 11.5 years and boy are these videos making me miss it! When a Korean person decides to take you under their wing, they will literally walk through a wall for you. And the food is just amazing. In this video you had 삼 (Sam = three) 겹 (Gyeop = layer) 살 (Sal = fat), in other words barbecued pork belly. I strongly recommend you to also try 갈매기살 (pronounced Kal Maygi Sal), it's another barbecue pork meat with much less fat but more tender and less chewy. Another recommendation is a mung bean pancake 빈대떡 (Bean Day Dock), which you can get with some SamGyeopSal bits mixed in (depends on the restaurant). I'd also have heartily recommended 호떡 (Ho Dock) but I see Anna beat me to the punch! Have a great time in Korea, guys. Gangwon-do on the east coast is probably the most picturesque, beautiful mountains, rivers and lakes. If you're in the area, I'd recommend a visit to my friend's microbrewery in the countryside - White Crow Brewing. Delicious beers, tonnes of room to park Trudy and a good time guaranteed. Have fun!

My family went to South Korea a few years back. They are mostly very friendly. You get a few like in any country but there where few of them. I loved the people of South Korea that I cried on the way home because I didn’t want to leave and wanted to stay. We flew into LAX and it was cultural shock to my system again. Their 24/7 7/11 stores were such a delight. You could get fresh meals all the time. They love their coffees and drinks. I would next time go for more than 2 weeks. I would love to go for a year. Don’t know if I would come back lol.

You can get 5 star hotels for so low and have to try the traditional Korean homes that are passed down generation to generations. They make you breakfast with their family and best sleep I ever had in my life was at this Hanok!!! You have to experience this and really get to see real culture.

For anyone visiting nearby busan if you come around mid/end of April they have a big cherry blossom festival in Jinhae, I’d highly recommend going.

I loved Busan!!! We took the bullet train from Seoul and was amazing. I would get up super early when no one was around and just enjoyed the beauty of Korea. They have music and dancing on the beach at night after swimming done for day. I also love how they are conservative when it comes to swimming and covering up. In swimming pools all must wear swimming caps on all times. And of course I love the tradition of taking shoes off and putting on slippers or socks. Clean idea and makes sense. We try to do the same here now.

Another cracking adventure! It brings back memories of an entire year in Daegu. Daegu is known for having the most conservative people in Korea, so I found it very difficult to make Korean friends there. Even so, I remember the elderly generation in particular always being very generous and welcoming, and I had lots of disputes with them every time they insisted on giving up their seats for me on the subway trains.
@user-거니이이이이g Жыл бұрын
Could it be because you are sitting in the elderly seat?
@soggymoggytravels Жыл бұрын
@@user-거니이이이이g No, the situtation was that I was standing on Daegu subway trains with a big bag of grocery shopping. Elderly people would jump up from their seat and start tugging my shopping bag onto their empty seat. I was always battling to insist that they stay in their seat and that I was fine holding my bag (I just didn't like to put it down on the train floor, as I was fussy about fresh food coming into contact with germs).
