I hope when level 55 or 60 will release, there will be a entirely new way to level the Pokémon up to max. In the OG games you actually had to use them and fight with them in order to Level Up. How cool would it be, if there were challenges you have to complete in order to power Pokémon above 50, for example walk 50km with it as your buddy or win a certain amount of raids or anything like that. Would make them a lot more special instead of just pumping candy into them.

In regards to Level 60, best buddies at level 50 are, when set as a buddy, have level 51 stats, so we already have 50+ in-game. I imagine that when Level 60 does become active in the game, they will introduce XXL candies, and you can exchange X amount of XL candies for XXL candies. They are already making XL candies much easier to obtain since the introduction of Max Battles, plus they already have XXL in-game by way of pokemon sizes. It just seems logical that that's how they'll proceed - even if the introduction of XXL candies occurs when they introduce Level 70 - but one has to wonder if Pokemon Go will actually continue to exist at that point in time - that would likely be a decade away from now and would make the game itself nearly 20 years old.

You got to remember lvl50 dropped around this time of year and players under lvl40 had a chance to try and earn the legacy lvl40 badge before the end of the year. So I reckon lvl60 will be dropped around same time. It is Niantic after all so who knows, they could change it up and do it some other time. For XL candy, I agree they need to add something like the recent Halloween event where Nice, Great and Excellent throws increases your chance of getting XL candy as a permanent feature.

Also, XP requirements have been exponential so far so there is no reason to believe they won't continue to be. Like - I think it takes around 20M total XP to get to level 40, but 176M to get to level 50. (This is almost 9X what it requires to get to level 40). Honestly 1B doesn't seem that farfetched. I think they would definitely make it easier to get that XP though. When level 50 came out, they boosted the XP on excellent throws and gave a lot more 3x or even 4x XP events. They did a lot of great XP events this year, I know people who were able to clock in 20M XP/day for like 4 days in a row during some of these boosted events. This is in stark contrast to back in the day when the only way to get XP was to evolve and get 1000 at a time.

Maybe you could do XXL candy or keep the standard XL candy but I’d really like to see a method similar to the player requirements for leveling past level 40 Win X number of raids with this pokemon X number of PvP battles, grunts, earn this much candy by walking, best buddy it, basically like the “adventure together” requirements for certain evolutions but making them required to level up beyond level 50 Personally I would do this without a new candy or stardust even using XL candy since those are hard enough as is to get. If it’s needed for balancing then just leave it the standard amount to level up to 50, don’t keep increasing it. I'm from April out of the daily grind of the game, more than needing a break is like, i want to do more things with the new-ish features: the adventure party, portrait character designs, routes and even showcases, aren't enough dynamic, interesting and lively to continue doing them going forward. I don't want a lifeless pokemon go solo experience anymore (isn't a thing of necessary boredom), and only depending on social aspects to enhance it (but again the raids, gyms, rockets and all friendship interactions in a set are hollow/superficial in the game experience, and definitively some of them have potential to be endgame features by themselves or all-in/jack of all trades). GBL obviously needs some of this chaos and engagement as well. And its no wonder other mobile games are in same spots where collectionism and entities are toys with very much low things to do with them and only to obtain means-to-means rewards, the landscape of mobile gaming needs an overall step-up and being less greedy with more dedication with the product/service.

There's not a lot of science behind why cold plunges are beneficial yet, but they essentially shock your nervous system. I'm level 47 at the moment grinding to level 50, level 60 seems like it'll be hell. Niantic still doesn't consider people outside of popular areas too much, there's less wild spawns than we would see in a big city, and gyms seem more spread out in certain parts making raids exhausting to get to by foot, especially if the specific raid you want to do is far out of the way. Where I live lower tier raids block gyms a lot as well, during raid hours is when this is the worst though! A lower tier raid will show up and block one of the gyms we raid at for a portion of the raid hour making it so we don't get to do as many raids as we could potentially be doing or have to walk further to another gym wasting more time of that raid hour. Reasons such as these also make it so some players have to purchase remote raid passes if they want any chance at grinding a specific raid, whether they're doing it for XP or shiny hunting the raid boss, with the current price of remote raid passes doing either isn't really affordable for many players including myself. The shiny odds seem terrible when remote raiding at times too, for example it took me 70 raids to get shiny Latias during the mega Latias raids awhile back, most of those raids were done remotely. It's even more stressful when you do anywhere near that amount remotely and don't get a single shiny, Niantic should consider making the shiny odds better if you're doing raids remotely since you're spending more on remote passes than you're spending on premium battle passes.

Legacy 40 and the 40 -> 50 came at the end of the year… I grinded and am on pace to hit 50 by the end of the year 2024. I had anticipated them possibly doing legacy 50 this new years because it was 4 years since 2020 when they increased to 50, and that’s 4 years after 2016 when they had 40 max. I thought the pattern would continue at new years this year. I think end of year is probably the best time to increase level

Honestly they just need to do a jump to level 100 and keep the power up system how it is right now. Each time you power up your Pokémon is “1 level” and it wouldn’t ruin the PvP space. For rewards they should introduce bottlecaps, one silver every 5th level and one gold every 10th. If you don’t know what bottle caps are in the main games they allow you to raise the IVs of your Pokémon to the max if they don’t have it already. The XP curve needs to not be as steep as 40-50 but it does need to be a pain and take a while to complete because of the challenges. Like you said hitting veteran would be an awesome one for 99 to 100 or like getting EVERY medal plat or something like that. I’d say that you do away with the XP factor entirely for 50-100 and just have it be challenges with XP Rewards because most people like to flex that big number. I somewhat agree about the gmax thing being hard. I wish it was a bit easier being someone who lives in a more rural area. I have been able to duo the 5* shadows for a while now. It’s really nice that I can do that but I agree there’s minimal challenge to the gave overall being level 50 for a while now. I’ve got pretty much everything I want in game to the point that if I raid and don’t get a hundo I consider it a bust or just a candy win. Kinda wild thinking that way.

If Level 60 comes in Pokemon Go, Niantic will make it easier to get XP. When Level 50 came, they changed that excelent throws would give 1000 extra XP. Not sure how they will make it, but it will get easier to grind XP, if Level 60 will be available. However, about leveling Pokemon, I would say to level a Pokemon from 50 to 60 will for sure cost 500-600 extra XL candy and that would be the end of the Master League in PvP, since the least trainer will be able to spend that many candies. I could maybe build a team of Pokemon, but there would not be a single legendary Pokemon in the team and that would not work in the regular Master League.

The dude who runs one of the local communities and I were talking about this maybe 6 months ago, they had a massive buff to friendship exp, like 10x. My evidence is the interesting fact that the platinum medal for collecting mega evolutions, for myself at least is 43/46. Except there are 7 yet to be added, not 3. This would indicate that they are reserving mega metagross,mega Galade and mega Mewtwo x and y, for the next badge level. Just a thought. It’s a little odd the platinum badge stops at 46, not 50.

For trainer XP issue, they can counter by letting trainer to complete a certain amount of XP like what some task do and cannot complete with existing XP. i.e. in order to get level 51, trainer has to gain 45 M XP from 0, even the trainer already has 1 B Xp from previous. Diamond medal is cool, but not sure how it can works on Unown medal. When they first introduced level 50, it was from beginning of the year. So, high chance they will do the same. PVP wise, maybe can raise the CP cap for Great and Ultra League. No doubt, XL candy is a problem for most trainers, which they might considered to ease the way of obtaining it. Max Battle system is awesome, but still a big issue in many communities.Unlike raid system, there is a countdown time to show when the Tier boss is spawning. So we can gather and prepare. But max battle start in the morning and last for few days. So people cant gather at a specific time.

Here’s some food for thought. I know a trainer who refuses to choose either one of the three teams available and therefore cannot pass the level 40 cap. He says he’s waiting for when Niantic gives trainers the option to join Team Go Rocket as their team of choice. That could be an incentive/reward for trainers who want to reach level 60 and have that as an option. Just saying

I feel like Pokemon Go needs to completely revamp the leveling system. XP needs to be rebalanced, too low from raids, too high from friendship, nothing for buddy pokemon. I also think at the same time, LVL 60 does not seem like a satisfying number to be on for a long time like 50. When they revamp the levels, I think the amount of XP needed to get to LVL 50 RN would equate to LVL 55, and lvls go up to 75. Eventually in the future they could go to 100 with that and be the final end point goal.

Level 51+ discussions are always confusing because it's not clear if we're talking about trainer levels 51+ or pokemon levels 51+. Both could happen at the same time someday, or it could just be one or the other. The way I see it - trainer levels 51+ could happen anytime. There's no real blockers or reasons they couldn't roll this out tomorrow. High XP requirements and difficult challenges, no problem. It'd be more interesting if those challenges involved new content like diamond medals for example, but they wouldn't have to. Pokemon levels 51+ are much more game breaking (or maybe game changing is a better term) for the reasons you listed, and as a result I think that's much further out, if it ever happens. But trainer levels 51+, yeah why not?

yeah, I struggle in master league as it is! I've got 3-4 great mons, but getting xl candies for my 98% zygarde is too crazy of dream And I hope they remember to update level up requirements, like I got to level 46 recently and one of the requirements for level 47 is- Power up 6 Pokémon to their max CP If they increase level cap, its, not happening. I think I have more than enough candies for melmetal, but the stardust cost would be devastating I do hope that they dont make level up task involving pvp that hard, I would have to get better phone and internet for it. Most of all, I really hope they dont add an exclusive badge for hitting the last level cap in time like last time. I barely got to level 40 last time and I have been playing regularly from the very start.

In the main series games Pokemon can power up to level 100 but they are capped at level 50, when you do PVP. POGO could do the same and cap PVP at 50 (51 with friendship) and give people the opportunity for level 60 just for raiding!?

Level up rewards have felt so underwhelming, you'll spend months on the same level and when you get to the end you'll get maybe 1 good item, you get 1 or 2 rare XL candy after level 40 when you need 10 to get your pokemon to level 40.5 when you can get a chance for 1 after doing a raid is pretty disappointing.

Dax buddy, you really missed the mark on the Giganta-max in rural areas. I moved to a small rural area and I've been the only level 50 player for over a year now. We've managed to organically grow our community, but it's still small and consistently underpowered for everything that has to be in person. Like the original Regielecki was brutal, but doable. Giganta-max is absolutely not possible.

I don't think level 60 is coming any time soon. Not saying the cap won't increase above 50, but I don't think they will just drop it to 60 in one go. Plus, they just did a major PvP shakeup. Totally nuking the meta after everyone just spent so much dust this last season might not go over well. I wouldn't mind a 'Special Research" where the first task is "Reach Level 50", and make it like a "Soft 60" without dropping the true end game content. Release new stages every 3- 6 months.

Maybe they'll have a level 60 in Pokemon go but leave Pokemon level up to level 50

I think the fact that mighty Pokemon were just released suggests that there will not be level 60. Mighty Pokemon seem like Niantic pushing to help casual and F2P players get maxed out mons for raids and Master League PVP.

Which Pokemon is really hard to breed in Pokemon Go? Shellos because male and female is separate location makes them hard to find opposite gender to mate and produce offsprings.

even level 50 and platinum medals give practically no rewards, catch medals are probably the best ones- but half the cosmetics you "unlock" from medals require pokecoins AFTER unlocking them. most platinum medals dont even have cosmetics. even if you got something like 50 bag space for a platinum medal, or 50 pokemon storage or something like that it would be cool. at least the showcase medal giving a unique pikachu is somewhat cool but level 50 is not worth it for anything but the flex, sure you get a mewtwo- but its not a shadow, the mega isnt out and even when it is it wont give you mega energy for lvl 50, its 10/10/10 iv floors which isnt great, its not guaranteed shiny... ive grinded for 2 years and im almost at level 50 and I can confidently say that none of the rewards from 41-49 have meant anything to me. levels like 47+ could even start giving a single encounter with pokemon like rayquaza, groudon, or kyogre and giving enough energy to primal/mega evolve once and it still would be balanced. almost any player who is even level 45+ will probably already have all the primal/mega legendaries already but it would at least be SOMETHING. also anything like boosted candy/xl candy/catch rates/litterally any kind of boosts from being higher level would be cool

Level 60 will gonna push PVP haters to grind for PVP as it needs to hit like Rank 20 for like level 55 and 60. L60 also forces players to abuse Party Play, Routes, Max Battles, and Shadow Raids, the contents that hates remote players

Me personally dont think the levling process we have is sustainable. Due to pvp and the xp requirement. I think they should maybe look to other games and look at season levels. Imagine you could level your season level from 0 to 40 each season and get some kind of rewards during that process, and maybe a medal in the end for reaching max level that season. I think in the end that's more sustainable and wont "break" pvp and exhausting billiion xp grind. My personal thoughts :)

Today Pokémon max at level 50, and trainers also max at level 50. But why do wa assume that level 60 would be applied to both elements? Can't there be a level 60 for trainers that would set new goals for experienced trainers, but the Pokémon would remain exactly the same? If Pokémon are modified to be able to reach a new level 60, it will destroy the meta and many of our current top Pokémon would become useless!
