I agree. I dig Lakeway so much because of the visual vibe that reminds me a bit of south OC CA in the late 90s (Terracotta roofs, lots of rolling hills and new construction, the upscale/waterlife vibe) and there are places adjacent that allow you some variety with access to all the pluses of Lakeway life. And many of the downsides of living in today's noisy, overcrowded Austin aren't an issue in Lakeway (thank goodness) while the pluses are a short distance away. I often think of moving there and living a fun, quiet, happy lifestyle.

Taxes are higher and HOA’s depending on what subdivision you live in. All the highly manicured easements come at a cost. I love driving through. We selected a home in Briarcliff Village, with custom homes, competitive prices and less crowded streets. It better fit our lifestyle with the lower taxes. We do shop in and enjoy Lakeway stores and restaurants. That, along with Baylor Scott & White medical center make Lakeway a great community.

Thank you, Ken! Briarcliff is a great spot. I'm sure you're enjoying yourselves. When we're on the water, I like to dock over at the marina and grab a bite to eat at The Lighthouse.

do you think 620 from north'ish lakeway to cedar park is a bad drive? G maps says anywhere from 20'ish to 35'ish minutes.

Hi Travis! This stretch really isn’t too bad. What times of day would you be commuting?
@RedLeo-pf9yo2 ай бұрын
Well, the traffic is going to be bad, but where isnt it in Austin. A lot of my friends have bought big beautiful homes in Cedar Park. And I don’t think they’re ever going to leave. I prefer Westlake. And Lakeway second.

Lakeway restaurants are very family friendly. Think Margaritas on a patio AND a playground for the kids!

You forgot to mention that when walking and exercising through the greenbelts, EVERYONE smiles and says "hi". That doesn't happen the closer you get to Austin. This is a really "friendly" place.

I tend to stay away from cities and towns that like to Tax their citizens with police methods. If the city or town has too many police officers that tells me it’s either crime ridden or they just like to issue tons of citations. Lakeway not for me. On a positive note this was a very nice video. I’ll stick to country living. A bit more free to roam.

Old Lakeway has disappeared unfortunately. It’s just filling up with more and more people from out of state, taxes continue to rise. Would not be my choice.

@MovingATX2 ай бұрын
That’s too bad, William. I’ve been so happy in Lakeway. What has your experience been?
@williammohle46072 ай бұрын
@MovingATX I'd say that it was nice. However, due to overcrowding and greedy landlords, it's pushed the working class out and made living by the lake entirely unaffordable. There was a sense of community that has been lost in an never ending pissing contest with neighbors that makes the keeping up with the joneses a sad reality. The cops are pretty terrible to the lower class while treating white collar federal cases with "dignity and respect." Not even to mention the fact that it seems like laketravis can't help but hire pedos. It used to be a nice place, and I guess depending on who you are and if you don't have kids, it probably still is. But is living here worth it? Absolutely not.

@MovingATX it used to be nice. However, due to overcrowding and greedy landlords, it's become unaffordable for the working class. There was a sense of community that was lost to a never-ending pissing contest that makes keeping up with the joneses a sad reality. The lower class is over policed while actual white-collar criminals in real federal cases are treated with "dignity and respect." Well, Lakeway is full of multi million dollar houses, so there never has been a whole lot of room for the working class. Especially if you want a house along the lake. But people are very kind and Lakeway and that creates a positive energy into the atmosphere in the area.
