The diversity of everything in Malaysia has made us the people that we are today. We've been exposed to more than one culture on tv and in real live since we're born and that's made us easier to accept the unfamiliar. A song or tv series for example, can be a hit here no matter if it comes frm as far as Mexico or as close as Thailand. And that's just one element. Stability in politic & economy, although it's challenging these days, is also a major contributor towards the peace of this country. I believe high street crime rates only exist when people has no way to generate legal income at all and in here, if you are hardworking, the opportunity is vast. Your choice. And then the rest, like filiality (word?) to our respectives religions too has in a way shaped us into becoming the citizen that we are today. While the western world mostly might look at religion as the source of problems and limitation, here we embrace them, we protect them and we respect each others'. Things might not be perfect at all time, but in this process of trying that we will grow to be a better person and citizen in general.

This is very well stated and appreciated 💕. Diversity is powerful in society and that's a major problem in USA. It fights diversity and we're suffering. There's a peace here that others won't understand until they experience it. All societies have their issues and people we need to watch out for but there's still a sense of peace. One is definitely shaped by religion with guiding principles. The unity can be felt and seen and obediences is important in maintaining a respectful society. Arrogance and ego aside, we can learn so much from other societies. I pray for continued peace and Blessed to see a different side of the world. Thank you for this insightful post from which we all can learn. Very much appreciate your helping me understand the Malaysian perspective. ❤️

Welcome to Malaysia. Personally, I like hearing about foreigners' experiences in Malaysia. I'm a Malaysian. Although I complained a lot about Malaysia, if you give me a choice of being a Malaysian or migrating to another country, I think I will still choose Malaysia. The diversity of races is one of the reasons. We do have our differences in cultures and habits and so many other spectrums but I think it makes us a more accepting people. That's why most of us don't really notice too much if your skin is white or black or yellow. Generally we're more conservative with strangers. But trust me, once we get to know a person well, we could be quite wild too. Anyway, welcome. And do enjoy the food, which is the thing I will miss most if I travel out of Malaysia.😂

One thing to consider, kl has many migrant workers from neighbouring countries eg bangladesh, pakistan, indonesia, myanmar. Any form of misbehaviour on their part (regardless if they are legit or illegal immigrant), the locals like me will get a bad name because visitors don't know they are from another country. This is our fear.
@QueenofDC Жыл бұрын
That's very true and unfortunate because we can't distinguish them apart. We just know it's Malaysia. How are such crimes handled by police? Are offenders sent to jail or deported? I'm not sure how the laws/ penal system works here. Thank you for your insight!
@keangwooichoo6138 Жыл бұрын
@QueenofDC if they commit any offence they will serve time and deported. Usually if they break only immigration laws, they will be blacklisted for 5 years and deported. Due to our long sea borders, they can easily enter our country. Unlike Australia and New Zealand which is isolated and far away. Also airport immigration has corruption, working with syndicates. Many were caught and sacked. Many came from poor countries. Similar situation like texas Mexico border areas.

When you mentioned about 'being profiled', I feel sad for you that you experienced it in your own country. It doesn't feel right to even listen to a story like that as human. But, I'm glad you feel at ease about shopping or even window shopping in KL. In Malaysia, it happened too in some stores.. but you don't experience it in big shopping malls.

As a malaysian, i have a lot friends from different culture. Im a muslim, but went to Chinese school (High school type(mixed) secondary school). Even its chinese school its complete. We have Islam subject, chinese subject & hindu subject. Its the same like other country because we mixed in classes. But when it came to our own religion subject, we apart and go to other classes that only our religion in it. I have a christian friend that love to follow me to my Islam subject and our teacher and us is okay with it . We never judge tho. Sometimes we discuss about our religion together without any fight. We’re in high school but already talking about religion. So im just saying that we normalize this thing since a kids. So its hard to see us fight because we remember our sweet memory together ❤ We will loud when someone touch our country 😁 just respect us then we respect you.

That's a beautiful memory and way to live throughout life. Our foundation and morals never leave us and how we were raised plays a part but as we grow we evolve and change, hopefully for the better. May you continue to share and impart those teachings on others. Thank you for watching and sharing 🥰.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! 💜 I would like to hear more about making and income & living expenses. If I were to say I’m done with Atlanta, leave everything for Malaysia. ❤
@QueenofDC11 ай бұрын
Greetings! You're very welcome. Thank you for tuning in ❤️. I designed my life for early retirement so I have no insight on making an income here. You can work remote. I recommend researching their laws on work requirements for foreigners since every country is different and they may have special work visas. Living in Malaysia is less expensive than Atlanta; however, I don't operate by a budget. If you have a lease, you can get reduced rental rates. If you live in the outskirts from the center, maybe $600-700. Without knowing your circumstances, estimate $800-1200 per month for rent in KL City Center. It's all about location, plan for more and celebrate when it's less. These are rough estimates, and actual expenses can vary based on individual choices and circumstances.

Welcome to Malaysia, the Tidak Apa Land. This is my personal tag for Malaysia. Two decades ago the "Tidak Apa" attitude was very prevalent. Like the indolence of people who live by the idyllic beach and no bothers get to them. It carries until today but very much less when the locals are woken up and compete too for their place in a cosmopolitan community. Tidak apa means "Never Mind" so no worries whatsoever.

When i was studying in 1 of the international islamic universities in malaysia. There was one african brother who came up on stage during our orientation and i remember his set induction. He compared the difference between an arab and malay brother. Arabs upon first meeting will totally embrace you like they have known you for years, then after a while if they notice something is not right about you, they start deserting little by little. Malays, will do it otherwise. It takes more time for them to accept you. Being reserved is so thick, but silently they are reading you until the time comes for them to wholly embrace you after they understand you and you will like it. I ponder abt tt ever since. Allahua'lam.

In fact, those squinting eyes surrounding you are not like a cynical stare at a stranger or because of a different skin color. For me personally, it has become a habit every time I see black-skinned female tourists, what comes to my mind is a strong woman who has greatest strength than other women who are able to defend themselves when in a dangerous situation.
@QueenofDC Жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing your perspective! I hope that doesn't deter you from seeing our femininity, emotions, and offering assistance during a crisis or if you see us struggling. Black women are stereotyped as strong; however, that doesn't mean we don't require assistance, don't have emotions, or won't accept help. If you see us struggling or in harms way, please help and don't think we are strong enough to bear it all alone. I make it a habit of accepting genuine help. I appreciate you watching and your thoughtfulness.
