After watching Martin using the boulder lifter I ordered a winch to use to drag logs out of the woods behind my house for firewood. The logs aren't really big but as I age it can be hard to move the logs across the creek. Thank you for sharing this great idea!

Where there is a will there is a way makes me think of Martin and all he does. He figures out how to get it done no matter what it is. Way to go Martin. Love all you get done. Makes the rest of us want to keep going even in old age(78). I love the rock moving. I have never seen a rock that I did not like. They seem to call me to take care of them. I do like to have a bit of birch in every wood pile I stack, when I can. Always have a sack of chopped up birch bark for my fire starting, love the smell in the tiny cabin when I light it. Woodsman incense? lol

History is slowly melting into the ground. It won't be long and all that will be left is the memory. Here where I live in the Ozark mountains the old cabins are long gone but their rock foundations and fences will be here a long time. Occasionally I run onto an old house place that has concrete. I have to wonder how they came to have that way out there. Yes you are slowing down. Ten years ago there would not have been mid day naps. LOL As a fellow old guy nothing wrong with a nap.

That winch works pretty good. I bet it will come in handy dropping bigger trees in tight spots. One thing I need to invest in one of these or a heavy duty come along. Thats a lot of work rounding up those rocks. I gathered about 50 or so with the help of a Bobcat skidsteer. Still a lot of work but will look great around the cabin.

I was wondering, I grew up in Minnesota, land of 10,000 lakes -- but being in the outdoors alot, we were plagued by wood ticks -- ICKY, ICKY, ICKY -- SO I was curious if you have the same problem there ?
