I have struggled with lust and still do, but my relationship with God is growing every day and I believe soon that it will beat out my own desires and lust because I serve a very great and giving God. I have honestly had lust ever since I was a little boy and did not even know why I felt this way. By little I mean like earlier than 4 years old little. But I have prayed and prayed about it and God is working in me everyday. For that, I am very grateful.

I have struggled with lust before, I gave my life to the Lord of Jesus christ 24 years ago, but I still stumble with it from time to time, I always turn back to God, every time I struggle including other sins. Please pray for me.

I compare self gratification to going to a gambling casino. I don't believe going to a casino and playing slots every once in awhile for fun is a Biblical sin. But becoming a gambling addict who wrecks a relationship or marriage from that vice is.

Not to think as the world would think but as our new nature in Christ would have us to be sanctified, set apart taking our thoughts & actions captive and not giving in to the lusts of the flesh. Jesus warned that even if you looked at someone in lust & had impure thoughts about them you were committing adultery in your heart. Obviously, no physical touching was involved...just a THOUGHT! Masterbation is touching oneself while having IMPURE SEXUAL THOUGHTS about another person. That is why the Lord also said we needed to take our thoughts captive. Masturbation is a result of our thought life and the Lord has plenty to say about our thought life. You are misleading many by saying it’s ok. We are to be careful with our thought life because if one doesn’t take control of it we could easily act upon our impure impulses in real life. That is how many fall into the trap of fornication & adultry. They think about the act and then become comfortable playing it out in real life...you are giving dangerous advice. We must keep our thought life pure & crucify the flesh & its worldly desires. Take up your cross and follow after Jesus. I was also guilty of masturbation but when I became born again of the spirit of the living God I was convicted. The Lord also revealed to me that there are spirits of lust named Incubus and Succubus look them up. We do not war against flesh & blood but against principalities in the spirit realm. Guard your heart & thoughts & choose to live a holy life, least the enemy of your souls tempt you to sin against a Holy God.

I think it's super important to make sure that you are not saying it is a woman's fault if she dresses less modestly and a man takes sexual advantage of her. Let's be clear here...if you are a Christian man, then no matter what a woman looks like...it is YOUR responsibility and no one else's what you do in that situation. Say you are a pastor and a woman comes into your office for counsel... Then she strips in front of you.. What happens next says something about the woman for sure... But it says a lot more about the pastor. It is his responsibility and his fully what he does next. Does he do the right thing and instantly walk straight out or does he misuse his power position and sin. It should also be made quite clear that sexual abuse is thought to higher, (but at least at the same levels) in the Muslim world where women are completely covered head to toe. It is NOT about how you dress. Sin is internal and a choice. You can undress someone mentally when they are wearing a burka.

God puts strong sexual desires, which for the single Christian, can lead to marriage. The problem is many couples just “settle” for the first one available. This may be so wrong for both. Yes, I know Paul says it is better to marry than to “burn” but it’s better to take the time to find the right one. There needs some way to relieve the pressure.

Thank you, David. Some questions... 1.) We admire beauty in God's creation in various forms. Is it a sin to admire the beauty of women other than one's wife, provided one doesn't sexually lust after them? 2.) Even animals are attracted only to their own kind (just saying). Sex drive is a natural expression that was given to almost all of God's creation for the purpose of procreation ('go forth and multiply'). However, in mankind it is also to be a 'supernatural' or spiritual expression of 'agape' love for one's spouse. The problem of sin comes when sex in marriage is done out of lustful passion, e.g., to relieve pent up sexual urges rather than done out of agape love. The spouse then becomes a sex toy rather than 'bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh'. 3.) Instead of cold showers, would sports, gym, workouts, hard physical labour, getting physically spent, be posisble solutions to remedy sex drive when it is unwelcome? In Paul's day, wasn't most work in the form of hard physical labour rather than desk jobs?

Yes, physical activity can be beneficial in that regard. (To work off excess energy.) Studies done on combat soldiers found that they actually had lower testosterone counts than non-combat civilian males. (Although that I think has more to do with the stress of combat; not the amount of physical activity. Stress affects sex drive regardless.) You are certainly correct that "be fruitful and multiply" adds nuances to our existence that's far beyond the act of copulation. Also the fact that we have an added spiritual component to our makeup that animals don't have. Man is the only mammal that doesn't have a penile bone (which facilitates reproduction). Which in turn makes humans actually have to work harder to be ready to procreate than other animals. That I don't think was a design accident. And I agree. I think the spiritual aspect of all this is what's missing from most teachers presentation of the subject matter.

I know for a fact i have a hyper sex drive and i been single 2 years and celibate. How? Well i use all my energy workimg hard in my job. I exhust my self physically. Also i can workout at home. And i have some sextoys and if all that fails and nothing works i fast. Fasting can really kill lust. Is like instant releif for lust. I been thrpugh som really tough times when i fasted for months. But it works.

While the Bible does not explicitly mention masturbation, one might speculate that it does allude to it by placing sin about lust in close proximity to sin done with the hand: "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery.' claudius hedrington I don’t know that a godly woman is God’s plan for my life at this point. I’d be perfectly happy to finish my work soon, and go home. I don’t care about what the locusts ate anymore. I’ve lost everything after putting myself completely into my work/service. I only have my car now, so I’m not really worth it as a mate. That’s ok. I accept this is God’s plan. I don’t need anything. A job and or a way to finish out my service that’s literally all I want. I’m grateful to friends that are giving me a place to stay, but I’m longing for home.

So whether it’s normal or not, what do older singles stuck with this God given drive do with no outlet? My wife cheated, I’m older and divorced. There’s not really any appropriate outlet here for this arguably inappropriate desire. Other sins have appropriate outlets for their drivers, like envy/ stealing/ sloth you can get a job. There’s nothing for this.

I. Can't help but agree. Gotten to the point of asking God how is it fair?? Abd to take the desire away if i am to remain single. It feels like a purposely placed stumbling block that never ends. He says he will never allow us to be tempted beyond what we can overcome and always provides a way out.
