I had an ileostomy bag for ~4 months after an internal injury. One of the things I discovered that isn't mentioned here (apart from the relative volume of waste from plant vs. meat meals), was that the contents of my ostomy bag stunk to high heavens after a plant based meal (~24-48 hrs transition). On the other hand, when I had a meat-based meal, the waste in my ostomy bag hardly smelled at all! I can tell you first-hand, that it was the plant waste that was rotting!

@@MarkSmith-js2pu That's a question I've always wanted the environmentalists to answer, when they push their beef/methane ideology. Have they calculated what percentage of the cattle methane reduction will be replaced by burps and farts from 8 BILLION vegans? And, are they proposing that all of the deer, caribou, antelopes, wildebeest, bison and other ruminant animals on the planet be killed off? Next to them, the methane from cattle is just a drop in the bucket. Who'd be the murderers then?

8+ months here on carnivore. Lost a total of 31lbs within the first 5 months with moderate exercise. I went from 196lbs, to 165lbs and now I'm shredded like I was in my early 20's. I can't image living any other way now. The energy, mental clarity, sound sleeps, the perfect digestion, lack of joint pain, youthful skin has changed everything!! . But I gotta say, out of all the amazing benefits - digestion is the #1 reason I won't drop this diet/lifestyle anytime soon and why I truly believe this is the proper human diet. No more gas - like none!! It's the craziest thing. No more stomach bubbles or urges to go. No more large BM's or even multiple per day anymore. Always just a small predictable one with a fraction of any stank. I can't speak on this enough. I was on keto for years and thought life was good, carnivore has been the ultimate game changer for me.

The last straw for me was when I went to a seminar about nutrition put on by church. They were saying that people need to attend to their health more. I agreed with that so I went. This doctor. An MD.. A guy with a degree literally put up slides with brown and green dots on them; cited vague nameless studies complete with stat analyses that he was betting no one would understand that when you eat meat, your body confuses it with your own flesh and causes you to consume yourself. I honestly do try to be nice to people. But that was just too much. After the conference? I went up to him and said, you're an idiot. And walked away. I shouldn't have done that. I'm sorry but still. @jennifermarlow. 27 күн бұрын
There was a diet very popular at that time, called "macrobiotics". This diet said we all have pounds of undigested meat in our colons, and needed to follow this 'special diet' to clean our systems out. Like most films, BHC was a product of its time, and in no way is the "earliest known reference to this myth". Sheesh, people will believe anything nowadays, just because they read it in a meme or whatever.

Dr Westman, there is a school of thought that states that we need fiber in our diet to feed our gut microbiome, and that we need a variety of fibrous food to support a healthy and vibrant microbiome. It is postulated that this is impossible on a strict carnivore diet. So is a carnivore diet detrimental to a healthy gut microbiome?

I've got ibsd and hashimotos so have some digestive issues but luckily no need for a ostamy of any kind. That said with my income I can't afford to so make cloth reusable wipes for bathroom. Well I will say the past few days my chia pudding I've been doing for brunch/lunch has had berries and both almonds and chia seeds in it. I used home made raw milk yogurt and chocolate protein powder. The rest of my meal has been scrambled eggs with meat and or shrimp. On that note the almonds and chia seeds I've popped in the blender to chop the nuts quickly instead of using a knife and they come out basically coarse ground. Well guess what has come out completely undigested on my wipes when I wipe my ass? Chia and course ground almonds. Mind you at supper I've been having noodleless spaghetti or shrimp and other meat marinara with home made food pantry fresh tomato based spaghetti sauce along with mushrooms and onion. All of that is completely digested just the nuts and seeds are not. All the berries, veggies, meat, dairy, shellfish, Etc are all 100% digested. Don't need a ostamy bag of your checking wipes or TP to make sure to get all the crap off your anus to see what comes out undigested. When my ibsd acts up the spray paint poos make it even easier to spot because what is digested is liquefied and the rest is solid and floating. Still don't need a ostamy for that.

@@dar4835 I did a 30 day stint of carnivore and saw the gas and bloat get significantly better but not the spray painting out my ass. Re adding fiber seems to have fixed it and now I'm slowly re adding things like leafy greens and cruciferous veggies because after carnivore I could eat them if fermented but now some even if not fermented seems to help as long as at least cooked. It seems if I reintroduce as a fermented food my body can acclimate to digest. Caffeine is still a no go though aside from white tea. Green or black as well as coffee or my beloved colas and Dr peppers and Mr pibbs are a big nope. That's basically all my "trigger" foods so while I appreciate your suggestion I kinda already tried that with some success but more along the lines of keto sees better results in my case. You are not the first to suggest carnivore to me I got a lot of that last year at ketocon which is why when it got beyond out of control last year I actually gave it a go. But it seems it wasn't what my body needs and is not the most effective solution in my case personally.

@@missyleonis It may take more than 30 days for your IBS symptoms to go away. It probably didn't start overnight 😕 My Dr.: oh, you're lactose intolerant. Me: ok, been off of all milk products for 60 days. No change. Dr.: add more fiber. That didn't take care of it either until I started Keto 10 years later, that helped some, but when I went full carnivore, I'm regular. No more diarrhea. Cut sugar and carbs, eat meat, eggs and butter. My body is super happy. I sure like not having to know the location of every bathroom on my way to shopping 🙄

@missyleonis
@missyleonis 28 күн бұрын
@@dar4835 yeah I get you. It's not so much watery as literally a brown fire hose situation. It's liquid and forceful. If I try to hold it it will force out anyway. I just had to re add small amounts of fruit and veggies and nix caffeine at the tail end to fix things. I really didn't have many trigger foods anyway. And unlike most with ibsd I have no issues with lactose or gluten. It's according to the gastro more of a functional ibsd instead of typical. And I will say fluxing between keto and carnivore might be most beneficial long term. But fermented foods including yogurt, things like cheese, lots of meat eggs and fat along with nuts seeds and small amounts of fruit and veggies seem to be best for me. I do quite a few various fermented foods including a "sibo yogurt" and both keifer and 4 types of yogurt I make with raw milk when I can. I make several fermented veggies and make water keifer, komboocha, fruit vinegar, and even some salt fermented fruit and natto. I think part of why my gut is healing so well is not only doing low carb but also the variety of cultures I add to my gut to hopefully help heal the damage my hashimotos caused to my digestive tract by screwing with my digestive acid and causing the loss of my gallbladder in my early 20s. And adding a lot of acidic fermented foods helps compensate for that too. I won't say too much fiber isn't bad but small amounts seem to be fixing my issues over time along with other factors. I even for a while did a fast mimic of herbal tea laced with coconut oil and home made broth in a small amount and then later for solid food did chia pudding to help with healing which did a lot of good. Right now I'm doing a fast mimic of white tea with some nut pods unsweet coconut and almond creamer because I have to stagger my morning meds two of which I must take on a empty stomach but not together and one must be only with water within a hour before or after and later I take a psych med that is advised taken with food. The fast mimic is for the last one since I tend to take my morning meds before I'm hungry including that one. Btw, my old fart mimic routine was using coconut oils mct effects on ketones and increasing autophagy to help recycle and replace damaged cells along with the collagens gut healing properties then the chia puddings properties to heal gut mucosal lining. So I do use certain foods as holistic treatment of my issues based on the healing properties they may have. If it fails I'm no worse off of it works it's a great tool to have in my tool belt. Carnivore may not have been as effective as I would have liked but I wouldn't call it a fail either so it's a good tool in my book to break out every now and then. But I can't handle longer than 30 days myself. It got too restrictive and I didn't enjoy that level of restrictions. If it was my only option to feel well I'd stick with it though. Luckily it seems it's not in my case

I don't understand how anything would rott in your colon unless you have damage to your digestive track. Do these people think that the stomach doesn't break down meat yet pushes it into your intestines and the other waste (poop) goes around the meat and comes out? I don't get it. I eat about two pounds of meat per day. If it doesn't come out the other end, where would it go? We still poop, just not as much.
