I have a Roland GR Ready Strat and also a Roland GI-10 that I was using to control VSTs and other hardware synths. Yes, it still works but the old technology (MIDI 1.0) is starting to show its limitations. The GK-3 or GK-5 pickups are still perfectly relevant, its the GI-10 specifically where the bottleneck occurs. The future for using a guitar (and all its nuisances) as a full blown MIDI controller is in MIDI 2.0 and MPE. This is where the "newer" units like the Boss GP-10 are a superior (albeit more expensive) option as it outputs the hex pickup as 8 channels of MIDI via USB. This allows software like MIDI Guitar 2(3), for example, to do the rest of the work.

really great Brent! I am curious as to if you had issues with the old midi being 32 bit vs. 64 bit (most modern OS are using this now).. and the routing from the GI to the focusrite. Thanks so much

As a long time user of the GK3 system, I assure you that your mounting setup will not track accurately. Please refer to the Roland documentation for the correct mounting instructions. The GK3 pickup should mount within 30mm or less from the bridge. Good luck with your miniature studio setup and enjoy van life!

The Roland Integra 7 is due for an update. Hopefully they'll build some guitar capability into the next one. Great demo!

Yeah bends don't work so well. You can alter some stuff on the interface but you are best adapting. Sorry I can't be more help
