Mihawk also has been stated with *"THE STRONGEST OF THE STRONGEST"* which no one can beat him in a 1v1. and mihawk tell zoro to learn haki "mark in the sword is shame for a swordsman" and yes yoru have no mark is CLEAN and as far we know mihawk DID NOT have any scar so basically no one can touch him in 1v1. Finally someone who gets it, honestly one of the best takes and observations on their rivalry. Most people will say that shanks is weaker because he is a swordsman, but how I see it he really is just a haki prodigy who channels their power using a sword. I personally think shanks haki wise is stronger than mihawk but lacks the skill in swordsmanship that mihawk has which makes him the strongest swordsman and not the stronger pirate overall.

Haki is not a fighting style. It's versatile series of augmentations to one's combat style. Besides the lone exception of the wifi haki shanks used on green bull, everything else enhances strength, defense, and reaction time through prediction (of intent or the actual future) and awareness of one's surroundings, and fodder knockouts via basic conquerors. There is zero reason to suggest that Mihawk's haki game isn't on shanks' level, and given how oda always goes through painstaking lengths to equate the two means that they're relative, and I seriously doubt that's because Mihawk swings yoru with just a tad bit more flare than shanks swings gryphon.

I think you're missing out on some changing factors here if Mihawk was trying. I think there would be plenty of people trying to join up with the World's Strongest Swordsman. His clout alone would attract people if he chose to. And I think Mihawk is smart enough to know he can't do it alone. Even at Baratie, he responds to Luffy saying that becoming Pirate King is more difficult than beating him. Which is true of course. But there are other changing factors. Would he have trained Zoro? Probably not. Would he even have met Zoro in Baratie? I don't think so. Therefore, would Zoro been as strong as he is post-timeskip? Probably not, and while Zoro's matchups in the New World have been pretty low dif until Wano, Zoro may not have been able to put up a chance vs Big Mom or Kaido. Or would lose to King. There are other things such as Mihawk is a lot of the power behing Cross Guild. And would Buggy even be Yonko without him? Maybe. But would be the equivalent of a meme Yonko. Or even more than he is now. I think with a significant crew that he could also personally train, Mihawk and his crew would be a Yonko. Not Buggy and/or Crocodile. If he is half as smart as we think he is, he'd probably have his number 2 be the one to talk to people as recruiter/diplomat. I think Mihawk would be like Rayleigh more in terms of demeanor (more serious one) and maybe his number 2 be more like Roger in terms of personality. But still would have a friendlyish relationship with Shanks. Like WB and Roger. Maybe team up against the others. I think Mihawk or Shanks' crew could at least challenge BB and SH (especially with a not Mihawk trained Zoro). If you're assuming he's mostly solo, his best chance I think would be teaming up with someone powerful already and close. And then betray them at the opportune moment.

Honestly, he could be, and I think many people believe there has never once been a definition for what is an isn’t a swordsman when it comes to the Devils fruits and haki has never once said just because a character uses this doesn’t mean that there not a swordsman once said, any known boundaries for Swordsman for what is or isn’t sure,there is one besides people who don’t use swordsman to fight but besides that there’s never once been a different stated between people who mix devil fruits and swordsman ship and people who use haki and their base sword to fight

Wealth, fame, and power. The pirate king achieves this and everything else the world has to offer. Mihawk has power no question. Fame is questionable because while he was revered , he never got the kind of attention from Morgans that the emporers got. Wealth is near zero. He floats around on a raft because he can't afford anything else. This is why he needs the cross guild. Mihawk has power, Crocodile has wealth, and Buggy has fame. He can't do it by himself
