You see why it's so hard for men to show emotion? Voght was showing true raw emotion, and the first thing that dumb reporter says is "getting a bit emotional" in a snarky way.
@ibowers8195 күн бұрын
I honestly don't think that's how the reporter meant it at all. That beat writer has a daily Guardians podcast that I listen to and he said on today's episode how great that moment was and how lucky we are to have Vogt as a manager who shows emotion and loves his guys. I think remarking on it was just a way to break the tension of the moment and acknowledge it, not just move past it.

Alternative: I have no problem with Trout on DH, I think its a fantastic and necessary idea that will keep him hitting for years to come. Like Katie said, he has never been known for his defense. Never. Who cares that he's not on field? Yeah, it sucks, but its the reality. We don't need him on field. We need him at home plate, knocking dingers, and this is the best path forward for that.

As long as Mike can stay on the field, the sadness will pass. Guy was elite in the field for a long time. Elite enough to deserve HOF already. Let him enjoy simply raking for the remainder of his career. If he can stay on the field and rake for 5 more years, all of the sad times will be forgotten. Disagree with Katie on this one.

The worst part of the Tigers being competitive is they can pretend like there's a real reason why Kerry Carpenter - their best hitter - is being platooned. It makes no sense why Riley Greene & Parker Meadows get consistent at-bats but Carpenter doesn't. A player like Arraez would finish top 5 every year in MVP in the 80's, but even the best bat to ball skills in baseball don't make you an elite player if every other aspect of your game is below average. Arraez has one of the lowest walk rates in MLB, is not a good defender, has no power, and isn't fast. Jesse Winker has a higher OBP than Arraez, Justin Turner has a higher OPS. He's a good player, but nowhere near elite
@arjnarersn015 күн бұрын
He’s a one dimensional player but he’s the literally the best at that dimension
@ibowers8195 күн бұрын
This is pretty much why Steven Kwan (who style of play was very comparable to Arraez's game his first two big league seasons), decided to purposely swing more this season, knowing full well that it'll also lead to more strike outs. They determined all the slap singles he was hitting last year made little difference in the game. So their focus this year was "less hits overall, but more IMPACTFUL hits" and it's lead to him hitting nearly 15 homers on top of his high average and Gold Glove defense. He didn't want to just be the guy who hits 2-3 singles a game if those singles weren't scoring runs.

@ibowers8195 күн бұрын
lol yeah. Who'd ever want to have Mike Trout's "sad" career. I get there are aspects to be sad about, but lets not pretend he hasn't had one of the best careers most of us have seen.
@garydagg91124 күн бұрын
@@ibowers819I think you have to separate the talent and the career. He’s one of best ever players in his sport, nobody will question that. But if you compare it to say messi or Ronaldo. If they played like they did over their careers and only had 3 champions league appearances, you’d say that’s awful. You couldn’t blame the three players but I’d -personally question the team.
@garydagg91124 күн бұрын
Yeah but you’re not Mike trout. We in the comments would be stoked to play a single game at a pro level of any sport. So hypothetically you’d say if someone of Mike trouts talent only played 1 single mlb game in his entire career it would be a good career, cos it would good for us?
@hiskingdomreigns4 күн бұрын
I don't think Rose is comparing the sadness of Trout's life to the sadness of your life. Cos who cares about your life? However, when you compare Trout's career to comparable guys like Judge, Harper or Mookie it's undoubtedly a tragedy that he's never been close to postseason success. Or even a >.500 team like Ohtani is currently enjoying.

Getting on base may be important, but that's not exactly Arraez's strong suit. He is a contact hitter, but really he is NOT remotely the batter he needs to be, and I say this, because his walk rate is currently 4.2% on the season, 6.8% career. He still doesn't have the plate discipline he needs. You gotta have SOMETHING more than just contact. All he has is contact. He's only worth 1.3 bWAR, 1.5 fWAR. That's good. That's above replacement level. That's not all that and a box of cookies. The most he's ever been worth in a season so far is 3.4 WAR, where he put up the most HR and RBI in his career and ended with an AVG of over .350.
