Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet said: "Generosity is close to Allah, close to Paradise, close to the people and far from the Fire. Stinginess is far from Allah, far from Paradise, far from the people and close to the Fire. The ignorant generous person, is more beloved to Allah than the worshiping stingy person." Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1961 argument disproved

@@aliassem1035 Firstly, from what I understand (and my understanding is deficient) is that both the ignorant generous person and the stingy worshipper would be praying their obligatory 5 daily Salah, although the worshipper would pray MORE voluntary and may know more than the ignorant stingy person. But secondly thi, this is not an authentic hadith. It is very weak according to Al-Albani, weak according to Ibn Baz, not authentic according at as-Sakhawi, Abu Hatim ar-Razi said this Hadith is bāṭil. Ibn al-Qayyim said: Bāṭil. Search the hadith on doror.net to see different gradings by different scholars, it's very useful

I think it would have been better if Yasir Qadhi had unequivocally condemned this type of view, specially since it is the opinion of a minority of scholars with no basis in the Quran! It is about time that we stop following the opinions of these medieval scholars who have done so much damage to Islam!

Established the salah... the best is to work on Akhlaq first Salah should be follow immediately. Everyone perfect their salat. Don't abandoned the salah for the sake of Dunya. Salah is the second pillar of Islam. Not praying is committing injustice to the one who created You. First of all when Allah created Man or was about to created Mankind.. Allah says to the angels that He will create humans and appoint them as a "successive authority". Surah Al Baqarah 30 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority." They said, "Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?" Allah said, "Indeed, I know that which you do not know." The prayer has been made obligatory.. upon those who choose to believe.. after the shahada. Killing is wrong and sinfull and missing or neglect or abandoned the salah is a great injustice after the shahada. Best be is to learn the religion after perfected ur Akhlaq. Remember Imam and Akhlaq goes together. Remember when Allah spoke directly to Musa(Moses) Allah spoke directly to Moses, He said, "And I have chosen you, so listen to that which is inspired to you. Verily, I am Allah! There is none worthy of worship but I, so worship Me and offer prayer perfectly for My remembrance." [Taha 13-14]

8:25 Just as an FYI for everyone: this tradition that Sh. YQ (God bless and protect him and continue to bring benefit through him) quoted is actually not in _Sahih Muslim_ (and on a side note, there’s actually some disagreement about its chain of narrators; one particular flaw was even-ironically-pointed out by Imam Ahmad himself). But I think the Shaykh may have been thinking of a similar narration, which is in _Sahih Muslim,_ that says: “What stands between a person and polytheism/disbelief is giving up prayer.” This latter hadith is also not as unequivocal as the former. Because this latter hadith from Sahih Muslim can mean: prayer is like the barrier (حائل), as Nawawi says, that keeps disbelief at bay. But once you completely let go of this connection between yourself and the divine, you’ve essentially exposed yourself to the possibility of completely losing your faith in God/worshiping something besides God.

I think one may "quit" salat ( for dome reason, some time ) without "leaving his connection with God Subhaanah wa ta3ala, and one may pray five times a day without having a "onnection" with God. And really...why should not praying lead to shirk ? I mean not praying because of an obstacle, we don't mean deciding not to pray or deliberately neglecting it. I know what i am talking about because i have not been praying fot a few weeks because...trust me, it was no longer possible. But i am busy with getting tthe "obstacle" out of my way.

@@chehrazadeesmey8399 There really is no excuse though, because even in the instance where a person has no access to water, they can do tayammum and if they have a cast on for example, they can perform wudhu around the area (keep the specific area dry all together). If a person is too sick to move and unable to lift their head , if they are CONCIOUS, there is always a way , even if it is simply moving their hands or simply having the intention and reciting. There really is no excuse if a person is concious / aware. Even in the instance of impure clothing or underwear, there are exceptions and ways to work around this.

@@C.amooni Salam brother. I am laughing inside because when i was writing my comment i was thinking at what some people could think if i don't say what the "obstacle" is. Should i have added that in the worse moments of my sickeness ( severe ) i did not quit salat ?. Don't you think that i know about the various conditions that replace the "first choice" conditions ?...i think i said "trust me"... You say there is "always". To say "always" you must be ware of "all" the possible circumstances and situations for every Muslim worldwide, something only and only Allah 3azza wa jal Alone can !!! I notice that you answered me about nor praying but not about the more spiritual aspect of connection with the divine and shirk. This has nothing to do with the current impossibility for me to pray because i have always thought the same : How can an imam say that in whatever situation we are, we must find a way to pray on time ??? That he cannot see what can help someone from doung salat on its time, not later, not earlier. When i am in the office of my lawyer who by the way was late, and for whom many people are waiting next room, i must ask him to interrupting the meeting for fifteen minutes because i want to make 3udhu in his bathroom, then ask for an isolated place, then perform salat ? Really ? 🤔🙄🙄🙄 Considering that before and after the meeting until at home there is absolutely no possdibility to pray on the street or if necessary to make 3udhu, this imam declares you sinful 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

@@chehrazadeesmey8399 brother, you can pray anywhere as in the Hadith its says all the Earth is a mosque (except where there is impurity). You can even combine two prayers (Zohar & Asar, Maghreb & Isha). The companions of Allah’s Messenger used to pray in between battles. You can offer salaah laying, sitting, even just by using your lips and eyes.

@@chehrazadeesmey8399 You realise salah is the 2nd pillar, the foundation - the position of sujood in salah is the closest a believer will get to Allah S.W.T while living on this earth with no barrier between your dua & The Almighty. Salah alone means a person takes the word of Allah seriously bringing them closer to Him & just through the effort alone, Allah may help & guide the individual further bringing them closer to Allah. Yes, some people are distracted and just moving through the motions, however, salah still forces you to pause&reflect for a moment. & At no point did I say anything about timing of salah & neither did you in the comment I responded to - you're just mentioning it now. You have qadha , if you miss salah while at work or for any reason & know you won't make it on time, you do your best to make up the missed prayed when you can/when you remember & as another individual mentioned, you can combine prayers. If for whatever reason I cannot make it on time for the prayer time, I will make it up later and seek Allahs forgiveness and feel a sense of regret vs trying to justify myself in saying "but I'm still spiritually closer to Allah". There are exceptions but the salah should still be made up later if you are concious & aware. Literally no excuse. I have also been through illness where I couldn't leave my bed, surgery where I could not even move my head or neck - I had to keep it in one position and could not bend forward&I still performed wudhu to the best I could & sat on a chair* prayed without doing any full motions- I was still able to recite slowly and complete the prayers I had missed. I'm not mentioning that to brag at all but to merely provide an example of a situation where I could have used my surgery and inability to move & the extreme fatigue I felt as an excuse to justify missing salah all together. Even now, I sometimes struggle to pray on time and I regret it deeply & seek Allahs forgiveness for it & this is something I know I need to work on BUT I will NEVER (I'A ya rabb) casually skip salah so long as I am concious and aware. May Allah help & guide us all & forgive us for our shortcomings.

Subhanallah. I'm speaking from experience. Alhamdulillahi Rabbiyal'alamin, if it weren't my monotheistic believes & my Fitrah, I wouldn't have had took my Syahadah last year's July, till today maybe. As a Malaysian Chinese who's born into a conservative protestant Christian family and have served in Charismatic Protestant churches before, Malaysian Muslims hardly gives Da'wah to non-Muslims, they only performs Ibadah. Whenever a non-Muslim questions about Islam, many of them took it as if the non-Muslim is trying to mock Islam, and some of them even reply like this:"U're not Muslim, u don't ask so much, mind your own business." While Rasulullah ﷺ and all his companions Radiallahu t'ala Anhu never left Da'wah, but majority Malaysian Muslims do, and yet, they still can sleep soundly.

I'm surprised people even need to explain things like this. I'm not even a muslim, but that obviously came out of some devout muslim who thought "abandoning prayer is a sin against God, God is obviously way more important than humans, so sin against God is way more important than sin against humans". You can make the same argument against the "sin against the holy spirit" in christianity, since in the gospels it's "the only sin that cannot be forgiven", so it's worse than murder, etc.

Look only to the Quran for true Islam because that is the Word of Allah!

@@ray620 Why do you say that there is no room in Islam for my opinion? In Islam there is no priestly class only whose opinions matters! Every Muslim has a right to their opinion and it is just as valid as the opinion of another. Ultimately only Allah is the judge. No one person is privileged over others. This is clear from the Quran where Allah says, "Rabbis and monks determined what was lawful and what was not instead of God." (The Quran 9:31). In other words scholars are not privileged and the only valid source is the Quran. As Yasir Qadhi mentioned nowhere in the Quran are missing prayers considered kufr and hence a bigger sin then murder or rape. Your Islam, it seems, is the Islam of the medieval scholars and my Islam is based on Allah's Book, The Quran. Today there are many Muslims who do not have time for the views of the medieval scholars who have subverted Allah's message. In fact in countries like Saudi Arabia and Turkey there is reevaluation of hadiths, even from sahih Bukhari and the other sahih volumes, to see how they confirm or deviate from Islamic principles as enunciated in the Quran. Finally, there is no basis for censorship in Islam and my view has just as much right to be considered as yours or of anyone else. As a clarification, actually in Catholicism there is the pope who is the ultimate authority and there is no room for difference of opinion. In Islam, however, we have the the two major sects of shias and sunnis whose opinions diverge significantly, and then within sunnis we have many groups with differing views. The same is true for shias as well. So Yes actually in Islam we do have "every other Joe (who) has his own interpretation of the scriptures." Obviously you need to educate yourself about Islam and other religions!

@@ray620 I am not a Quran only Muslim, I simply believe that only the Quran is the Word of Allah. If you believe the Quran to be the Book of Allah then you should surely believe what Allah says, "Shall I then seek a judge other than Allah? When it is He who has revealed the Book to you fully detailed?" (The Quran, 6:89). Furthermore Allah says, "If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah has revealed, they are wrong-doers." (The Quran, 5:44). Finally, "The words of your Lord are complete in its truth and justice. Nothing can change His Words - He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing. If you obeyed most of those on earth, they would lead you away from the path of Allah. They follow nothing but speculation - they are merely guessing." (The Quran, 6:115). Do you believe that the Quran is incomplete and we need hadiths to explain Islam? Are you of those of whom Allah warns when He says, "Then the Messenger will say:'O my Lord! Truly my people took this Quran for just foolish nonsense.'" (The Quran, 25:30). I don't because the Quran itself says it is complete. Those hadiths that confirm what is in the Quran, that are not contradictory to the Quran, that are not irrational, that do not prohibit anything not prohibited in the Quran, and those that show the Prophet as the best of human beings. These hadiths I accept. Do you not know that there is such a huge problem with hadiths that Turkey and Saudi Arabia have set up committees to examine the so called "sahih" collections and weed out the doubtful hadiths? It is not I who has an inferiority complex because I believe that true Islam is to be found only in the Quran, the Word of Allah, rather it is you who believe medieval scholars to be infallible and do not trust your own God given intelligence. Allah has said that "Rabbis and monks determined what was lawful and what was not instead of God." (The Quran, 9:31). Those medieval scholars were the "rabbis and monks" of Islam! Please do not mention me as a "Muslim" in quotes because only Allah has the authority to judge who is and who is not a Muslim! Certainly not you or any other human being including "scholars!"

I disagree with yasir qadhi on this. When you abandon salah you are abandoning Allah. And when you abandon Allah and try to start a family this leaks into your children and your children will be raised abandoning the salah and abandoning Allah. Whereas you don’t have this same issue with murder. The murderer by himself is bad. But perhaps did not abandon the salah. And his act of murder would not effect generation upon generation of his family. Abandoning salah is most definitely worse than murder What’s worse a kafir or a Muslim who hasn’t abandoned salah but has committed a major sin? And can repent to Allah? Obviously the kafir is worse

This shows you how irrational Islam is . No wonder people are leaving Islam. You miss one prayer and you are worst than a murderer, most fair minded people will say that doesn't make moral sense. I always thought that Islam justified itself through fear. Islam never justifies itself through rational arguments, rather it applies fear. Dr Yasir, gives a very slippery answer, in which he basically hedges his bets. He knows this makes Islam look very bad, but he can't bring himself to condemn it.

Yes and it is all right to murder and rape or at least these are not such serious matters! As a Muslim I totally reject such views which demean human life and dignity! There is nothing in the Quran that provides justification for such views! As I understand, Allah says that one who murders a human being it is as if that person has murdered all humanity! Missing a prayer or not praying at all is greater sin then that? Have we Muslims become mindless idiots?

@@tataoma9976 In Islam there is a concept of proportionality. That is to say that punishment should be in proportion to the crime. So, for example, to execute some one for theft would be excessive. Now prayers are important and the Quran makes it clear. However, the Quran does not specify the form of prayer nor does it specify the number of times that the prayer needs to be said. We know these things from traditions. The Quran says that it is a complete Book so surely if not praying is such a big sin then it would have specified the form and times. That it does not do so means that while important it is by no means of the same degree as the taking of human life. In any case we know that, for example, more people in Pakistan pray today then they did in the 1960s and yet the society then was much closer to Islamic values than it is today! So prayer does not make muslims better people, perhaps adherence to values as enunciated in the Quran is much more important! Quran is a Book for people with understanding! Empasis of rituals over values lead to downfall of societies and religion. In the 15th century the Catholic Church had become massivly corrupt with huge emphasis on rituals. The result was reformation!

@@ahmedakhan1 Firstly I don’t appreciate you asking a question and then giving your own answer to it , Islam isn’t based on what society thinks or cares, it’s sent by the Creator of everything, the book is complete and that is because in the Quran it tells us to follow the prophet peace and blessings be upon him over and over again, how do you do that? Through the tradition. Your claim of what “better person” is, is based on your own opinion and it might differ from person to person, so who cares what people can claim a good person might be, this is because atheists lack an objective morality and it’s just based off your opinon, Islam is objective and based by the Devine rule of the All knowing, as for you asking if Islam has a concept of proportionality, the answer would be yes. But that proportionality is based from Allah, not your opinion, this is why in Islamic law there is extensive rules behind the punishment, for example if it is a small amount stolen, the person was poor these things will take out the punishment of cutting off the hand. Also for punishments against fornication you need 4 witnesses who saw penetration (which seems so unlikely) And punishments are decided by qualified judges, not random people Allah has described Himself as the most Just, so if you just came from the perspective Islam is the truth and Allah is in fact the most Just, then you would have no problem accepting all of our laws. So your problem isn’t the Islamic Law, it’s the fact you don’t believe it’s the truth Does that make sense?
