Is More Better? - Pros and Cons of Sonic Rush Adventure

The character icons in the lower left look like Neo Geo Pocket Sprites. I think the company that did this started off on Pocket Adventure, maybe it's the same artist?

I definitely find myself returning to Rush way more than Rush Adventure, but I still wish Rush Adventure got a little more love from the fandom. I love Captain Whisker and Johnny, and even though they don't appear until the end I love how this game emphasizes the difference between Eggman and Eggman Nega (my two favorite characters in the series) The music, while not nearly as memorable as Rush, is still pretty solid and retains the style well. I especially love the boss theme, Plant Kingdom, and Sky Babylon. I wasn't a fan of how grindy this game is but it's still a good game and I would rank it in my top 10 favorite Sonic games for sure

@@PorkchopPhillip The game was too grindy for my liking as well, but I still liked it. It did a lot of things better than Rush, and some things fell flat. Definitely can’t say I dislike it though! It was my childhood and I’ll always hold it in high regards, but I can criticize it too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! :)

((i haven't watched the video yet i just wanted to comment this as a whole)) 0:10 yup thanks to the infamous sonic 06 but however after sonic 06 sega decided to learn from their mistakes after the massive failure of sonic 06 and geniuely make a super polished and high quality sonic game so this would be a come back for the blue blur they only half succeeded to do so...leads us to Sonic unleashed and ut really is a good game..back but this game however the reception wasn't too well... despite the high quality of the game it got bashed,unfair criticisms and overhated this game.. didn't deserved that much hate back in 2008 listen i know sega and sonic team really makes some stupid decisions sometimes but however i do geniuely feel bad for them for this one because you can really tell there was a high quality production, massive budget and high skilled team with this game(the gameplay quality,the cutcences and the CGI pixar quality Cutscenes speaks for itself) and so much effort,passion and ambition put into this game only to get crushed and underappreciated...listen im not gonna pretend the game is perfect definitely has some flaws but...the hate this game got was undeserved honestly makes this game really have a sad and tragic story.. and it would also explains why sonic games after sonic unleashed weren't high budget anymore just mid budget and why the story telling also got weaker and the cast got bastatdized and ruined all because of the failure of sonic unleashed and people really didn't wanted serious stories from sonic ganes btw and overall because sega just didn't see the point of try again and put high budget for sonic games anymore.

@@JakeThehedgehog-m1x I agree. I played Unleashed somewhat recently and found it to be very fun! It wasn’t perfect but it really did get bashed by people who wanted it to be perfect. After 06, any game that wasn’t as close to perfect as possible was regarded as bad. Makes me sad because we got some good and not so bad titles, but everyone will always regard them as terrible. Makes me sad :(

@@catluvr.88 It's really all on Sega for how the franchise turned out in the long term, particularly after the 16-bit era. The source to that is traced back to one thing: the canceled 3D "Sonic" game "Sonic X-treme" for the Saturn. That is where the never-ending cycle truly started ("Sonic Adventure" on Dreamcast being the true start of that cycle). But yeah, the golden years of the blue hedgehog, as well as Sega and Sonic Team, are way long in the past. Nowadays, the casual fans will just take anything Sega and Sonic Team give to them ("Sonic Frontiers", "Sonic Superstars", et cetera). As an OG fan (now former OG fan) myself, I consider "Sonic Mania (Plus)" a true send-off for the true golden era (now the 'sprite OG' era) of the blue hedgehog; I treat the franchise the same way as I treat the "SpongeBob SquarePants" franchise (seasons 1-3 + the 2004 film).

@@William5000000 I can’t put on rose tinted glasses when talking about Sonic. As much as I want to believe the franchise that got me into gaming (I was 5 years old) is perfect, it’s not. It’s hit a lot of bumps that should’ve honestly killed it, if Sonic fans weren’t so persistent. SEGA *could* make better Sonic games, and really knock it out of the park. They have the resources and finances, but it just seems like we’re in a constant cycle of “good game, bad game, mediocre game”, where the good games are few and far between. I still have hope though, but you’re right :)
