Absolutely true, Debbie. I get to be outside as much as I please, and get to notice every little change as we come out of winter. Then home in the warm and that sleep that a day in the fresh air brings you. 😊❤️

The news out of New Orleans is tragic. It’s getting more difficult to not get too involved emotionally. That doesn’t help anyone. I’ve spent the day out with Molly and doing jobs around the house with no sound to disturb me. Sometimes you just have to turn your back on the world. ❤️❤️

First day of the year spent sleeping after the night shift (nurse) and then I made cardemum buns with coffee for my dad and later ovencooked salmon with potatoes and dill sauce. It was my father’s 78th birthday. Today we eat leftover aspargus soup with crusty Bread. It’s close to freezing point and very windy here on a small Island in the Danish part of the Baltic bay. Spend your day treating yourself with Nature and do your best as always, add no hazzle because of dates.☀️

I will feed the birds all of my old non-germinating seeds (veggies and flowers) as I do each year. Then I will drive up the road for a trip to town one spring day and see all of my flowers blooming in my neighbors field he uses for growing watermelons. Favourite poet…. That’s a good one. I like T S Eliot, but I think it has to be Dylan Thomas. I remember reading ‘Under Milk Wood’ and ‘A Child’s Christmas In Wales’ as a kid. Everyone’s jumped onto ‘Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night.’ Over the last few years, and I think that’s brought to the public’s attention. I also like that he was a roistering drunk and a flawed being.

I'm not one for New Year's Eve and can get quite sad looking back on the year. But I love New Year's Day! I know it's just another day, but it holds so much promise. It's a time for looking forward with a frisson of excitement. I bought some of those crampons years ago but couldn't wear them. They were really difficult to get on over my boots, and once on, I couldn't walk to the door as they would damage the laminate floor. When I got in from my walk today, soaked wet through, I had a warming bowl of homemade vegetable and bean soup for lunch. It was delicious! I'm going to make a wholmeal loaf when I get some eggs tomorrow. I bought a breadmaker when I was doing keto but only ever made keto loaves in it, which was ok as a low carb substitute, but nowhere near as good as real bread. Wishing you and Molly a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year. ❤

Not really, Philip. There are flooded roads on every route out of the town I live in, but they are passable… just. One of the canals near us has had a massive breach that may break the continuity of the network for years. It’s fine as long has you have a decent coat and waterproof shoes.
