This was really good. I just got Ozone 10 and I've watched lots of videos trying to see how to use it and how it changed from version 9 and this was the one where everything really clicked. I love how you explained all of the features before the mastering assistant so when we got to that it was obvious what it was doing and controlling. Well done, cheers!

how much of an improvement is this over Ozone 8 advanced?
@panorama_mastering2 жыл бұрын
The master assistant is a MAJOR upgrade; But referring to the specific modules; The one think I'm using almost all the time which is different from Ozone 8 is the soft clipping module in the maximizer;
@MusicFed2 жыл бұрын
@@panorama_mastering thanks - I think the mastering assistant in 8 was already good but if this new one is even better than great. the 8 also doesn't natively support M1 silicon which is not ideal and they are not upgrading it I think

@@kafkakos3618 Yes; for certain use cases definitely; I find it best for managing louder masters where the dynamic composition varies from section to section as it can intelligently manipualte the time-domain parameters to minimize/avoid distortions;

Stabilizer mode is more or less like the Gullfoss EQ !
@panorama_mastering2 жыл бұрын
I can see that parallel! I'd say what's happening behind the hood of stabilizer is different; but I'd be curious for users of Gullfoss(Of which I'm currently not) to put this up against it;

Im guilty actually of pushin clipper after the limiter. The reason being is when im working on my own projects,i have a whole mix under my control and clips a bits and pieces of each track and Limiter like proL for me has role of Glueing whole master together and saturating it a litlle bit... and then Newfangled Saturate to do final transparent push. When im working on someone else single track... than its voodoo magic and sorcery to make it sounding good as possible xD

The soft clip seems like the biggest win of this update, time to get the wallet out... haha Mathew Lane Dr MS is a cool plugin to check out, gives you crazy amounts of options to change the L/R and M/S relationship but you can very easily destroy your song too! But someone like yourself would geek out over the flexibility maybe :D

I have a fast computer with no latency... until I put ozone 10 on the master channel and l later went back to edit/record a midi part and the latency was like 2 steps late off the bars. you have to delete the plugin instance as powering it off makes no difference... what a hog Ozone 10 is... Great for mastering but be aware it F's your timing up!

Does your DAW have delay compensation ??? I use multiple instances of the modules in Ozone 10 throughout a mix no sweat; and my iMac is from 2015!
@JamesWilliam702 жыл бұрын
@@panorama_mastering Yes if I choose delay comp in Logic 10.7.4 I get transitional clicks when selecting different lanes - 2021 M1Pro Mac here. manual latency adjustment does nothing either. Maybe its a U2B apple silicon issue?
@panorama_mastering2 жыл бұрын
Possibly so; you should flag this with the izotope team; they're exceptionally responsive on taking aboard user feedback; especially when it's objectively voiced and directly to them;; Because I can guarantee; my CPU is not even half as powerful as an M1 PRO... I have a quadcore i7 from 2015... not powerful at ALL!

I don't think Oz10 is an improvement over 9. The 2 modules are not that impressive. Stabilizer is basically Gullfoss which I have and use on my master buss before going to Ozone for mastering and I didn't see any use for the Impact module. It didn't have a positive "impact" on my material. Plus the fact that they didn't include a standalone version really ticked me off. It's a shame...

@musicman89422 жыл бұрын
That's correct. iZotope in their infinite stupidity dropped the standalone due to what their tech support said was a lack of usage and they didn't see putting the resources into updating it. Sucks big time.

@@billpodolak7754 The simple answer is being able to use Ozone without having to work in one's daw. Combine that with being able to host a third party plugin in the standalone version. iZotope messed up big time with this.
