We are back with another KZbinr book review, checking out [Colleen Ballinger's sister] Rachel Ballinger's book titled "101 Things That Tick Me Off". Was it a cash grab? Who knows? More importantly; who cares?

I have a book that a friend got me during a really hard time called 100 Happy Things. It’s a little cheesy, but the exact opposite of this book. The author wrote about 100 small joys like wearing underwear right out of the dryer, or picking the perfect trick or treat buddy. The entries are short and quippy but also actually well written.

Just gonna point out that not every disability and illness is obvious and the „slow person who moves slow for no reason“ might be in pain or not have any energy to walk faster, or has to brace to walk along this way at all. There are a myriad of reasons people behave the way they do and few are to piss you off personally.
@charleslee1373
@charleslee1373 10 ай бұрын
That one struck me too. The weird ‘I’m not ableist’ thing made it even more absurd, like she gets to determine who is appropriately disabled enough to move through the world at a rate beneath her standard. It’s like she almost got it but still lost the point. I walk really fast, mostly because I’m always running late. I have never in my life been made late by another pedestrian moving slower than I was. People on sidewalks are incredibly easy to walk around.

You 100% CANNOT tell just by looking at someone. I've suffered a lot of health issues and various injuries in my life that weren't visible/apparent, and it's annoying as hell when people assume that just because I'm a young and otherwise healthy looking/acting person, anything relating to my health issues must just be me being lazy, annoying, entitled, inconveniencing others for no reason, etc 🙄

Aren't the Ballingers Canadian? 🤔 The US is mostly really unwalkable. Not sure if that goes for Canada as well, I have never been there. Plan to get there 1-2 hours early (depending on the airport and how close to a holiday it is) so that you have time to get through security and to your gate. Check the gate on one of the “Departure” boards or your phone periodically because sometimes they change, but don’t stress too much! The airport staff are generally very helpful about these things, and even if you miss your flight or it gets cancelled/delayed, there’s ways to work around that. My family often flies up to see my grandma over summer breaks, so I’m pretty familiar with flying (domestic in the US only, but still) so feel free to ask me whatever 👍 Have a great trip!

You'll be fine as long as you listen to the security and do what you're supposed to. Just come early and have your ID and boarding pass handy. I find it also helps to try and loosen anything you need to take off when you're still waiting in line and take anything out you need to (i.e. laptop/technology, liquids bag, anything in your pockets). Alternately, you could just check your luggage and only carry on the bare minimum so you don't have much to put through.

Well Chris is listed as creator and writer for Haters Back Off, co wrote Miranda's first book Selp-Helf and not sure if he does currently, definitely in the past helped write the Miranda live shows. I'm with you that the worst I have heard about Rachel is that she was in the skits with Colleen (and is 4 years younger that Colleen so if Colleen was saying she was 19-20 that makes Rachel 15-16) and is friends with JoJo.

So abt that sticker on thing thing... library worker's tip: use lighter fluid. Dab a little on the sticker, wait five minutes and it will peal off by itself. That's what we use when we need to change the code thing on books that has the dewey system on it (english is not my first language lmao). It usually doesnt stink once it dries but you cab just wash the area with a little windex or what not afterwards :)

The "I don't like slow people, but not people with disabilities, just people that are slow for no reason" is weird to me because it's assuming you can always tell that a person is disabled. I get that it's annoying to have to walk behind people significantly slower than you but there's really no sure way to tell if they can't physically walk faster or if they chose to walk slow "for no reason".

There’s also ones such as the horsefly which are known to bite humans due to their diet (well, the females when they’re ready to mate-) Enjoy some trivia 🎉

10:02: there is a kind way and a patronizing way to cover your friend who might have less cash. A kind way would be planning the outing ahead of time, and inviting all the friends like it’s a party, and you’re the host. Then your less flush friend won’t feel singled out and humiliated, as it will be clear it’s your treat. Or, offer the outing to everyone in advance, proposing people chip in. That way your less flush friend is included, but can also decline gracefully. I’m a cheapskate, as well as somewhat broke, and when you hit your line, it sucks to be pushed or pressured beyond what one is comfortable spending. A lot of fun can be had for free!

Totally agree that this book is quite illuminating given recent events. I don’t want to be *that* person, but since it was specifically pointed out in the video; grammatically, “a photo of my sister and me” is correct. If it was “my sister and I” and you remove the other person, it becomes “a photo of I” which is incorrect. That’s how I learned it, at least. If you remove the other person and say the sentence, it should still make sense grammatically. Like “my mom and I went to the store” “I went to the store” or “someone said hi to my mom and me” “you said hi to me” for example.

Please, please, please review Modelland by Tyra Banks. When 14/15 year old me admitted I wasn't a huge fan of fantasy to my school librarian, she recommended this book to me. It was definitely memorable all right. The MC's name is Tookie De La Creme and the names really only get worse from there. For anyone who thinks Twilight is bad, please read Modelland. The book makes me think I could be an author - and I'm an accountant (so that's saying something).

8:22 Hold on, isn't she correct there? If you take out "my sister" you still get "Here is a picture of me." You wouldn't say "here is a picture of I putting up my decorations." "My sister and I" would be for something like "My sister and I went to the park," because you wouldn't say "Me went to the park." I checked to be sure, and at least the britannica dictionary site agrees. I don't know if it's different in the UK or not.

@@shaelin- I guess it’s good to keep in mind that everyone reacts to such information differently. They seemed close, or at least Rachel has always seemed like she had something sort of like Stockholm syndrome when it came to Colleen. I guess information like this can be jarring, and maybe you’d process it quickly, but not everyone’s mind is that strong. It’s a loved one who turned out to be a terrible person, that’s something hard to cope with. Sometimes the process of coming to terms with things is easier outside of the public eye. I don’t know, she’s not done anything terrible enough to warrant mass criticism, speaking out is a virtuous act, but virtue doesn’t have to be a given. Not speaking out doesn’t make her a bad person, it just means that she’s not virtuous.

You can't shame poor people for using handouts, then be angry for them for "being too prideful" to use handouts (or what it actually is --- them refusing handouts because they've been taught for years that it's shameful/evil/etc to ask for or accept them.
