just to clarify for other people. that isn’t the reason Mater was in the film. they actually got the inspiration for Mater from a company called “International Harvester” who specialised in Tow-Truck and Agricultural vehicles. they used the design of the old style Tow Trucks to create, your one and only. Mater.
@jesusthroughmary8 жыл бұрын
Mater is based on a real broken-down tow truck that still lives on Route 66 in Galena, KS, and his skill as "the world's best backward driver" is a nod to Dean "Crazy Legs" Walker, the president of the Kansas Route 66 Historic Association, who can turn his feet 180 degrees and walk backwards with his feet facing forward. I saw him do it when we visited.

That's very interesting theory. I do have a theory. I remembered Lightning's is based on Colvette,but I heard his car design will be Viper SRT10 in Cars 3. I think Lightning is going to get remodel into Viper SRT10 after he crashes,because I heard Vipers were going to get discount this year. But I think they are making a comeback for upcoming Cars 3,because I believe it have to do that Lightning will be remodel after Owen's new car Viper. I heard Vipers are very unique cars,because they are very fastest cars and very personal-custom made. I heard there's five different types of them: GT, GTS, GTC, SRT, and ACR. I heard ACR and SRT are only two race car-type Vipers and they are extremely fast racecars. I believe Jackson is Viper ACR one,because I heard ACR ones are the faster sportcars on the racecar and no cars can outrun their speed. Probably this does explain why Jackson's beating any cars on the racetracks. I heard the only way that can outrun a Viper ACR is SRT,because I heard Viper SRT are fastest sportcars than Viper ACR. Probably Lightning will get rebuild into Viper SRT to outrun Jackson,because I think Lightning have to get make into another Viper to outrun a Viper. No way possible that Lightning can outrun a Viper like Jackson when he was a Colvette.

Those are some really cool Easter Eggs. The only one I already knew was that the name came from Peach Springs. On a side note, I once mapped out all the remaining "pieces" of Route 66 across the entire country, and discovered that if you follow Route 66 where it diverges from the interstate, you avoid almost all toll roads, which is an added bonus if you want to try driving the full Route 66 (what's left of it).

I will add Newberry Springs as the bases for Radiator Springs. I have been to Amboy and Roy's Café. Not many folks there. Also visited Cadillac Ranch and added some paint. At Holbrook, AZ I met the man that the character Stanley was base on. Also stayed overnight at the Wigwam Motel. Lots of other places that CARS referenced in the movie. I appreciate the research and "homework" that was done to create CARS.

About 10 years or so ago we rented a Mustang in Las Vegas and drove extensively in southern Utah and part of Arizona. We pulled into Katenta, in northeast AZ, late one evening to overnight, and when we looked out the next morning the first things we noticed were the nearby mountains that actually looked like the back ends of the finned cars from the late 1950s and early 1960s. They were almost exactly like those in the movie. Even the angels were identical!

I actually live about 60 - 100 miles away from Amboy. They don't have a lot out there but the population is more than 4 I just wanted to point that out, they have a few houses out there and Roy's cafe still stands today I don't know if it is functional but it's still there. they also have a train out there it is used for military things because a town close to Amboy is 29 palms and it has a major military base there. one of the reasons I know that is because I worked with the EMTs in this area for a while and was called out to Amboy for an auto vs train crash, the patient didn't make It but that's mostly because of the situation. But slightly because it took us more than an hour and a half to get there, we are in an ambulance that's no really meant to go fast for long periods of time. I just discovered your videos today and have been binge watching your videos. your doing great. I love it!

Why when referencing the Wigwam Hotel, did you not say where it was in Arizona? You said the city names for all the other locations, but didn't say Holbrook, Az as the Wigwams location. Also no mentions of the "HERE IT IS" sign that is in Jackrabbit, Az. Its almost an exact replica in the movie. Just wondering because both those locations are about 10 miles from each other, and I happen to live between them and have always loved that they were in the Cars movie :)

My family and I were driving back from our trip to Texas and my Mom noticed we were on Route 66. We stopped at this gas station. One of the people who were working there told us that the old Diner across the street used to be named "Flo's Cafe". We all kinda freaked out...
@JeffDeWitt7 жыл бұрын
Flo's V8 Cafe isn't just made to look like a V8 engine, it's made to look like a Ford flathead V8. Not only are the roofs at the same angle as the V8's heads but the neon spark plugs flash according to the firing order of those engines. It's that kind of detail that makes Cars such a great movie. (The tire track jet contrails were a nice touch too!)

What Sally says about 66 moving with the land is true - not just that it's full of twists and turns but also... I felt like I was in the land, sort of enveloped by it, seeing its facets all around. On the highway, we were raised above the land and only saw the highway. They were fundamentally different experiences. I hope you get the chance to experience both!

My first car was a 1952 Chevrolet Styline Deluxe. I started college last year and had to leave it with my parents but I love that thing to death. 90 HP, manual, no air conditioning or power anything. Love it so much.

Fun fact: I lived along Route 66 in Winslow Arizona. I always wondered if Stanley's statue and its placement might have been in some way inspired by "the corner in Winslow Arizona." It's not as fine a sight to see as the Eagles hoped -- but my family theorizes that the fine sight was in fact his way _out_ of Winslow Arizona. It's not my favorite place in the world, but it's quaint if you're just passing through.

Not my car but some funny car stuff. My mom's ex had a grand am, the m fell off and his brother glued it so it would say grandma. There was another time where my mom and I were stuck at home for about a week. my mom's ex took the good car and had it sit in his work parking lot while he drove around in his semi. My mom was starting to feel claustrophobic (we went to town at least once or twice a week) so she thought about driving the jeep. The thing is, the jeep was in the middle of getting a tire replaced when her ex left for work for the week, the lug nuts were loose. My mom. never the brightest, thought it'd be a good idea ("we'll drive slowly, the wheel will be fine"). I grab my stuff and go with. We're about halfway to the main road (our road was a quarter mile to the freeway), and I see something rolling. We're still upright when I ask, "Is that the tire??" pointing at it as it rolls into the ditch. "NO!" we stay up right until we're closer to the tire and then the car plops down in the middle of the road. My mom and I had to search the road for the lug nuts (which we're spread out everywhere on the road) and we discovered that the ditch was not really tall grass, but rather, really tall grass in freezing waist high water. We got home at 10:30ish, we had left at 8.

My first car was a 1994 Saturn station wagon. I loved that car, and I miss that car... My best road trip was actually a bit of a fail... My friend, who was a travel writer at the time, and I were heading to California, stopping in a few places along the way. I went as his photographer, so we got to stay in swanky hotels and use all the amenities for free! It was amazing!! We started in Illinois, spent some time in Missouri and Kansas, had an awesome week in Colorado, and then made it about halfway through Utah... The front two tires on my car literally exploded! I had to get a tow to a local service station, and pay $300 for new tires! We decided that the trip was cursed, and decided to head back home. All in all, we were on the road for a month. Even though it was a crazy fail, it was some of the best times I've ever had with a friend.

I've been on a few long drives to the beach, but the best road trip I've been on was 16 hours long. Ok, the drive itself was agonizing, but the conversations, the places we went through, and the destination all made it fun. It happened last summer, and we drove to Orlando to go to Universal. The best part for me was getting to see Disney Springs, since our hotel was 30 minutes away from it. I may not have actually gone to the Disney parks, but still getting that small taste of Disney was good enough for me, since the last time I visited was when I was 10. :3

They actually did a video about it in year 1 I think. Basically, based off of where he is in the video, if he were to be wearing a towel around his waist, that would be where the comments section is. Find the old video about it and he explains it much better.

First Car- 00 Mazda Miata SE. Fun fact I broke down about 7 miles from Shamrock TX and got to spend 48 hours there waiting for parts. The Conoco/Do Drop Inn is exactly what the same as in the movie. Also they recently installed Tesla Charging Stations in the back. Great place to stop if you're passing through.
