If Recall is part of the system, then you can be 100% sure that it will be used by the government. When they say you have to opt-in, they meant that the feature will be available to you after opting in, but even without opting in, the feature will be always available for the government for abuse of rights. Even if they will lie that it is not installed, you can be sure, that it will be hidden in it, just the same way as all devices are spying on you, no matter of its size and function.

It is the whole shebang with Microsoft. For example eBay, as per other sites tries to push us to login via othr means... as you know. This morning I noticed: Simplify your sign-in Use Windows Hello to sign in with your PIN, face or fingerprint. We are into insanity, now!

I want to thank you for the content you provide. It's helped me see the reality of windows and I'm now in the process of moving to Kubuntu. I have a laptop I've installed it on and I'm starting to use it more and more. I am an expert in MS Office due to 30 years in my current job, so learning Libre Office has been a bit challenging - muscle memory trips me up sometimes, but I hate the ribbon interface with a passion, so I'm loving the clean menu interface. I actually would not have even started the switch to Linux without all the content you provide on how to do it without overwhelming yourself!

Chris Titus has made a third video about recall but it was hard to understand for me. I think he manages to get rid of it but wasn't sure for what the future holds
@yigitorhan765420 күн бұрын
The gist of it is that recall isn't really a dependency for the new file explorer to work, but it is linked as if it is so due to... "Bug". The solution was to modify a file about dependencies so that the file explorer package stays despite removing recall.

Not beyond the realm of possibility but they have multiple things/parts called Recall so that if one "Recall" problem is exposed they can technically say "Recall" doesn't have that issue.

I recently had to reinstall Windows because I had an older NTFS hard drive that I couldn't open/read under Linux. I wanted to know what data was on it and whether I could possibly save it. So I created a Windows boot stick and installed the system on my Laptop. I used Windows from Win95 to Win 11. I've been playing around with Linux for 1.5 years now and recently moved to LMDE. The experience of having to set up Windows again, with an account and everything, no thanks. Besides, my old laptop runs much better with Mint than with Windows, you can hear that from the CPU fan. I am done with Windows

Mint oa the closest ro windows but is not windows...... Load up a memory stick and test drive it first, it will be slower as it runs from the stick though......

At some point in your life a PC computer and the Windows running on it will have been completely new to you - but I assume you took time to learn it and use it, whether at home, school, college, work or in a training course. You put in time and effort to do so. Expecting Linux to be a clone of Windows is the wrong attitude - otherwise why would you change from Windows if you just want something else that is the same anyway? If you want to leave Windows because of privacy concerns or a dislike of closed source software then those are good reasons to change - but Linux is not there to be your "safety net". You should put in time and effort to learn it first, and have it running in parallel with your Windows machine(s) to give yourself time to adapt to it. Assuming that you can stop using Windows on a Monday and be fully up and running with Linux on the Tuesday is never going to work.

I was trying to use W11 in a VM, it asked me for my Microsoft account, the thing was: I lost it. How? I don't know, was I able to recover it? No, Microsoft service sucks. So i've imagined, if you lost or MS themselves deleted your account, would you loose acess to your OS? Well, the only sad part of loosing my MS Account is that i can't play hypixel anymore, how sad.

They now have Outlook and "New" Outlook. It's a total mess. It's hard to know which version of the multiple versions installed of an application you are uninstalling, never mind setting defaults when all versions of the same app have the same name so you don't know which is actually the default. It always gets worse! And "New" Outlook gets installed by default and is worse functionality wise the Outlook Express. It's mind boggling how good they are at making things crapper!

Here is how to not have recall on your PC: grab a USB drive, download a Linux distribution of your choice, and install it. Make sure to back up important data tho
@mchenrynick16 күн бұрын
When making the switch to Linux: (1) Copy all of your important data onto an external hard drive. Disconnect that drive. (2) Pull out your Windows hard drive and replace it with a new blank one. (3) Boot into the live USB of the Linux distro of your choice & install onto the new drive. (4) If you run into any problems/disasters, you can simply swap out the hard drives and get back into your Windows installation if needed.

Do you even understand how back end/front end works? The graphic user interface are just buttons that execute commands on the existing software. its not branding issue its recall, just some parts, like user interface are not there yet. Like don't you understand how programs work? Think of it like computer that doesn't have monitor plugged in. The monitor is the graphical interface. The computer works just fine, you can connect it to internet, access it remotely, whatever, just the person sitting next to it can't see anything thats happening. Like they can still use text to speech and type stuff on keyboard, so they can find out whats there.
