The Marian prayers in the rosary allows me to enter into a spiritual mediative state that opens my heart to receive the teachings of Christ. We are not doing this for ourselves but for God.

Agree that protestants sometimes can vainly repeat the chorus from tacky worship songs over and over again. Like Keith said, it's what's in the heart that matters. Oremus!!

My wife and I have been on a journey with Catholicism, learning the truth of the Catholic teachings and unlearning the lies we have been told. We are both raised Protestant, I’ve served as an Assistant Pastor in 2 churches (not currently) and both you and Scott Hahn have been such a blessing and eye opening to us in such a way it warms our heart. We will be attending a Catholic Mass for the first time this coming Sunday. We are still in the Protestant church, we haven’t converted yet, still praying and studying. Even if we never convert, at least we can know the truth of The Catholic Church. Thank you so much for what you do, God Bless

Amen! Bro. Keith, as a Catholic. I can't find peace, love, strength and consolation from God without praying at least a Rosary each day! It is a contemplative Biblical prayer of the BIRTH of Jesus Christ - Joyful mystery, LIFE - Luminous mystery, DEATH - Sorrowful mystery and RESURRECTION - Glorious mystery of Jesus that will help us go through with our everyday struggle of our life through the Powerful Intercession of our Blessed Mother Virgin Mary to his Son Jesus Christ. The Holy Rosary is my Guide, my Hope, my Love, my Strength and my Peace of my Daily Life that draw me closer to our Lord Jesus Christ. Grace to you Bro. Keith from our Lord Jesus Christ.

I'm a protestant learning about the rosary a bit, I was recently thinking to myself about it, how as a protestant I was very weary of it, but I realized it wasn't the rosary itself I was weary of, but rather as a protestant I'm not one to use the Hail Mary or anything like that, and I realized you can use it without it, and when I thought about it, it didn't seem much different to something I already do when I pray, when I wear a cross necklace, and I pray, I instinctively grab it and hold it in my hand, so I thought, maybe its not so different. And on topic with repetitive prayer, the bible also tells us to pray without ceasing, now, I don't know about you, but if we're to pray without ceasing, that prayer is naturally going to start getting a bit repetitive if you ask me. So I think it really does come down to, is the prayer genuine, is it from the heart, or is it idle white noise going through your head?

Back in my anti-Catholic days I used to fault Catholics for their repetitious prayers. Not so much because of Jesus's words in the cited Bible passage but, I just saw it as pointless and emotionally detached from God. Much later, when I was becoming a Catholic, I ultimately figured out that the ritualistic repetition that appears to be going on has great value in itself. How so? If you do it with your heart into it and listening closely to the words, this repetition can drive certain key concepts deep into your soul, and they become part of you, if that makes any sense.

Even the Protestant engage in repetitive prayers, they pray The Lords Prayer/Our Father word for word from the Bible as do Catholics. So, their protests are not really about repetitive prayers, its a hidden protest against our praying The Hail Mary. But Keith you did hit the nail on the head. All praying needs to be done in Faith and Belief. No Faith, then you are just babbling like the heathen. Prayer from a believing heart with deep Faith, that is what Our Lord is looking for, be it a prewritten prayer, a repetitive prayer, or an exporanpous prayer. Away from Rosary Prayers, and in deep exporanpous prayer, I personally use Our Lords Prayer as an outline (which I think Jesus meant, when He said Pray like this) to guide me through prayer.

You could make an entire series using the refutations found in Karlo Broussard's Meeting the Protestant Challenge and The Essential Catholic Survival Guide by Catholic Answes by going through each objection and putting the Catholic response into your own words. You could make a lot of content out it and help confused Catholics to learn their faith and how to defend it while clearing up some of the misunderstandings Protestants have.

Try reading Matt 6-14 from the Douay Rheims version and read the whole context. See if this doesn't remind you of those loud spontaneous prayers which the critics of the Rosary are known for. "... for your Father knoweth what is needful for you, before you ask him." And therewith, Jesus taught us a prayer that is meant to be repeated. The radical change in the KJV in this part of scripture almost makes me think that Catholic prayers were being targeted!

From an outside perspective, someone who doesn't understand what all happens while one prays the Rosary would hear tons of repetition, it would sound boring, and the people who are concerned about any prayers being directed to anyone other than God could even take offense. It's the meditations that so many people don't recognize being there, unspoken. I wish more people would share what they've learned or gained from the meditations. A prayer that focuses on the life and death and rising again of Jesus is a good one. I suspect the earlier version of the psalter would appeal to most Christians, since it would consist of the Our Father prayed with repetition.

For me, the Rosary is a powerful intercessory prayer that you can use to pray for the intentions of other people and world we live in. The same is true with the novenas and other liturgical prayers. The feeling of able to pray for others is fulfilling, gratifying and Scriptural. There are tons of intercessory prayers you can think of, and if you can dedicate each decade of the Rosary, or better still, each "Our Father" and "Hail Mary" for a particular intention, then in the eyes of God, this is not repetitive. I would rather recite the Rosary with prayer intention than to sing in an evangelical worship -- where verses, words or phrases are continuously repeated, particularly in the Refrain and Bridge sections - just to enjoy a “feel good” experience but devoid of any prayer intentions.

I think the best way to explain vain repetition is to look at the way "heathens" pray today (Hinduism and Budism) as they did 2,000 years ago, repeating often one word mantras over and over. They repeat idle, ineffective words that have no significant meaning when speaking to the true God, nor would they have any meaning in a conversation. Then Jesus gave us a template on how to pray by giving us His prayer. I think the Lord was saying that our prayers have to to actually convey a message.

People have an interesting view on Matt 6 and repetitive prayer. I take Jesus's words about "babbling" in this way. Maybe someone can tell me if this makes sense. I get the impression the passage means: Repetitive prayer is not essential for genuine worship. Prayer in Church is not essential, God still hears you. It also seems to me Jesus is discouraging " boastful prayer" no need to pray loudly in public ex. "Church, Temple". Appearing boastful or prideful is a general theme discouraged throughout the New Testament. As an example, I pray each night as such: I thank Jesus for his sacrifice, I ask for discernment, patience and the salvation of all souls on Earth and beyond, and other various requests depending on life situations, after which I pray the "Our Father". It seems to me Matt. 6 simplifies Worship. I'm not sure repetitive prayer is the issue, it's more the genuineness of the Worship, and the worshiper's humility. Maybe, I'm no expert.

The vain, repetitious prayer Jesus warned about was the type of prayer described in 1 Kings 18:26-28: Quote: “And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made. And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked. And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them.” The pagans would call upon the name of their gods over and over until they got the god to respond. If their god responded, it made the shaman or holy man a big shot, capable of calling the gods down from heaven. That's the "vain" part. The "repetitious" part is not the problem. Jesus prayed the same prayer three times in the Garden. The angels in heaven endlessly repeat "HOLY, HOLY, HOLY is THE LORD GOD, THE ALMIGHTY, WHO WAS AND WHO IS AND WHO IS TO COME." Now that's repetitious prayer, but it's pleasing to God. Just like the Rosary. Keep on prayin'! Here is a list of some in each category that you can check in your Bible. (V) 1King 18:25-29, (U) Isa 6:3, (U) Dan 3:52-90, (V) *Mt 6:7, (U) Mt *26:44, (U) *Lk 6:12, (U) Lk 18:1,9-14,*21:36, (U)*Col 1:9, (U) 1Thes 3:10,5:17, (U) *Jam 5:16, (U) **Rev 4:8 I Thessalonians 5:16-18 NKJV Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.🤔🤔

I usually point out that Jesus is not against repetition; but VAIN repetition. So the real question is HOW can a prayer, whether said once or repeatedly is considered VAIN. Whenever I come across the passage in Mathew I can't help but think Jesus was referring to the showdown between Elijah and the priests of Baal. The two main components of prayer is the nature of the request (what is being asked for); and the ability of the one being petitioned to be able to grant the request. If the nature of the request is unreasonable or unjust (sinful) then it makes the prayer VAIN; no matter how many times it is repeated. The priests of Baal were requesting a miracle to show Baal was the true God; which is not true and unjust. So they shouted and repeated their prayers from morning until noon, cutting them selves, etc. but all in vain because their request was unreasonable. If the one to whom the prayer is being addressed does not have the power to grant the request; then whether or not the request is just or unjust; it is still in VAIN so you cannot grant the request anyway. Again the priests of Baal directed their prayers toward a created creature; the demon Baal, who did not have the power or authority to grant their request. Elijah made the same request (a miraculous acceptance of the sacrifice to prove who is the true God); and he made it to the One True God who did have the Authority and Power to do so. Jesus also gives us the example of the widow and the unjust Judge to tell us there is nothing wrong with repetitious prayer.

@@dvdortiz9031 "..."... like the pagans do"!!!!" Exactly. Except in this PC culture I now refer to them as 'Non-Catholics" if they have retained a valid baptism, or 'Non-Christians' if they haven't or they don't baptize (ie. Muslims, Hindus, etc.). These are the groups who have either walked away (apostatized, or are in generational apostasy) from the acceptable sacrifice of the Catholic Holy Mass or just never ever possessed it. Thus they falsely believe their hours - long 'worship services' of repetitive songs, prayers, long bible thumping sermons, arm-waving, falling on the floor, blabbering incoherently, types of behaviour can in anyway replace the Eucharist (which is the only acceptable sacrifice/worship mandated by Jesus Himself - do THIS in memory of Me; not all that other stuff). If only they had stuck with the Catholic Faith instead of going off with their own non-biblical non-christian made-up sacrifices of Cain. So now they worship in vain.

There it says, for 1,500 years in Latin, "and when you are praying, speak not much, as the heathens...." No mention of "vain". No mention of "repetition". So clearly the KJV deliberately chose words that were designed to attack Catholic practice, for obvious reasons - bible alone - and not everybody is a scholar. In fact, with "speak not much", one can even mount an argument against the very-Protestant practice of superlong sermons - hours - at gospel rallies, blah, blah, blah, shouting, arm waving. And with a lot of repetition within it too.

I think it's helpful sometimes to use "their own" translations. That way you don't get drawn into an argument about that too. Either way it's the same idea. Thanks my friend!

Catholic prayers especially those prayed to anyone else but the FATHER are falling on deaf ears! When JESUS was asked how to pray HE said " Matthew 6:9 “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” These are the words of JESUS HIMSELF! No mention of Mary or one of the hundreds of catholic saints,by the way saints are the saved, It is not an appointed office bestowed by the Catholic church .

Man I hope your videos are a reflection for yourself. You've gone from a loving and sincere heart for people to now just confrontational and argumentative. Your countence is no longer reflecting grace and light, sadly. Now your very countenance is rough and harden. If this is what catholism changes in people, I'd rather carry a light of grace and love than harden intellect and confrontation. With love I miss the spirit your older videos projected over this pharisee type of exhortation.

As Catholics, it’s our duty to share our Faith, Church, Doctrine, Sacraments and Teaching. 1 Pet 3:15 Sometimes people get offended by Gods Truth because they were taught by heretics, believing what they were taught. When presented with the Truth, they take it as combative. Jesus Christ did not sugarcoat His Teaching. The Truth Is God established His One True Apostolic Catholic (Universal) Church and Doctrine with His apostles, before His Passion. He appointed them leaders, Peter as Head, gave THEM His authority, power and Sacraments (The Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven). He wants everyone to be His Church, receiving His Doctrine, Sacraments and Teaching. He taught if you do not remain in His Doctrine and receive His Sacraments, you DO NOT HAVE GOD. 2 Jn 1:9, Jn 3:5, 6:51-59, 1 Cor 11:23-29, 2 Cor 5:18-20, Jn 20:21-23, Mt 18:17-18, Jn 10:16, 17:20-26, Eph 4:4-6

Again your headless Saint Denis is a perfect example of your martyrdom from Jesus as a body carrying the Head of Christ. Jesus is the only authority! Mary’s last words in the Bible were what? Not ask me for intercession but what? Pointing the way to Christ isn’t intercession it’s telling you to look to Christ, not her. That’s pretty simple. Your Roman Church has added to the Word. The Word is Jesus and you’ve added steps and ways to get to Him. Why?

The Catholic Church gave The Holy Bible to the world. Over 1500 years later, Protestants, without Gods authority, rewrote it, deleted verses, chapters, books and changed wording to The Holy Bible and to The Ten Commandments. Revelation 22:18 For I call as witnesses all listeners of the words of the prophecy of this book. If anyone will have added to these, God will add upon him the afflictions written in this book. Revelation 22:19 And if anyone will have taken away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his portion from the Book of Life, and from the Holy City, and from these things which have been written in this book. Asking Virgin Mary and Saints for prayers as we ask our own family and friends, is for our benefit. They are alive in Heaven and God heeds their prayers and they prevail over many things. God does not tell His Mother no! Jn 11:25-26, Pro 15:29, Jm 5:16, Rev 4:10, 5:8, 6:9-11, 7:11-15, 8:3-4, 11:19, 12:1-17, Lk 1:28, 35, 42-43

It is a Protestant lie to falsely claim that we worship Mary when we only worship God. But then, without altars nor liturgical sacrificial worship, Protestants don’t understand worship which Jesus commanded Jn 6 51-58 so not “church”, more like synagogue with prayer & teaching! So what do you call your mother’s husband? Father, teacher & rabbi are all words that we use regularly. You don’t understand the context of your claim!

Blind guide, do you not see that the judaizer's were only attempting to add circumcision to Faith alone, and yet this religion, which condemns with many anathema's the Christian who believes by grace through Faith are we saved and not of ourselves.....(you know the rest Ephesians 2:8-9), you are now preaching with the vipers and wolves! How can you escape the damnation of Hell? The errors are to numerous to go through here, but I will give you a name to look up that you might repent and be saved, Dr.Fred Tarsitano, he is on KZbin.
