Is RJ Barrett What You Think He Is? Bust or Superstar... //

I don't think I've met two people who agree on RJ Barrett's NBA outlook. Some say he's an inefficient scorer who will be a bust, other say he's the next James Harden (which I don't agree with, by the way...). So I took a look at his whole game and came to some conclusions...

Definitely not a bust. The Kid has talent, can be a scoring machine a rightful dose of playmaking in him. Just hope he works on those crunch time scenarios and finishes at times, but he nice!

I can see him becoming a future finals mvp. His mentaliy is what sets him apart. He probably wont be great right of the bat but I think he will definetly turn into a franchise player because of his work ethik. Rj only has so many haters because of zion fanboys. I'm a huge zion fan and i like him even more than rj but his fanboys are out of control. It's already worse than doncic fanboys.

He has very good vision and is a great passer but hes not a willing passer and alot of time he has tunnel vision. Hes a natural scorer of the basketball and is confident in his game which makes up for the negatives.

For me it’s the shooting - ft% seems to translate better than anything for prospects, and his is terrible. He also relies heavilyyyyyy on his athleticism but I don’t see the type of juice to do similar things vs nba caliber athletes

He's a stretched out James Harden - the current MVP. How can a player so suited to the league be a bust? His floor is DeRozan, his ceiling is Kobe if his ISO defence improves (as it should). RJ = Doncic Ja = Trae Zion = Ayton People sleeping on the best NBA prospect for the second year straight.

Looking through his finishes, he doesn’t utilize his off hand (in this case his right hand) that often, which seems to sometimes make his finishes going right more difficult than they need to be

If Mavs can retain their pick and get top 2-4, i would be exstatic if they picked up RJ. Playing Luka at the 1, RJ at the 2 with KP at the 4 will be nice. They also have Greek Frequel developing and are looking at maybe cousins vucevic for C. Mavs will be nice next season.

Cant do that hop step he always tries in the NBA, its illegal. He can finish strong at the rim because of his long arms and good second efforts. He's hardly an above average passer, he just gets the ball all the time so he has more oppurtunities to do so. He could benefit from getting stronger as long as it doesnt slow him down too much like some other guys with average athleticism like RJ. It's honestly really surprising how much less athletic he is from other NBA players with his size, but if he can learn to utilize his size and combine it with good ballhandling, timing and positioning he could be a great player.

Rj won't be a good shooter. U can tell by his FT %. A lot of players who people thought were gonna be good shooters had bad FT% in college and they arent good shooters in the pros. Examples: Lonzo, Fultz, Justice Winslow, Wiggins etc
