I have been skating non-abrasive grip tape for over the past year. This is a review of their newest grip tape the gen 7.

Imo, abrasive grip is still a norm for pros because of the guarantee of grip when needed…plus it’s a lot easier when you have shoe sponsors. Cheers

Exactly, I was actually thinking on switching back, but one thing I like about the non abrasive is the no break in period

They need to make pattern rubber grip tape, if your going to accept that it's going to be different, why not go the whole way? Car tyres have tread and finding the right tread for a rubber griptape would be vital for its function, this is why smooth tyres are only used in a few circumstances, but everyone drives pattern tyres, I'm sure there's an optimum rubber and pattern out there that would be awesome for skating

Tires have tread to deal with rain, snow, and mud. Smooth tires are the grippiest, which is why they are used in motorsports when there's no rain.

A fix to the sole problem is just copping some fp insoles I’ve been having em for 2 years and they’re still working perfect

@@carlitospushesgoofy I’ll have to check them out when the soles get a little worn bc I had the game hangers and they were at least 50 bucks I can’t remember the exactly what I paid for them but I was like well if I’m going to spend that much on insoles I might as well buy new shoes because the shoe itself will stretch out

Yes, I think it is a bit better than older generation, but it still gets dirty and you’ll still have to clean it. I still don’t think that rubber grip is as good at handling dust and dirt as traditional grip tape. Also I I usually skate parking lots and skate parts. I haven’t like skated in dirty dusty ditches. So I’m not sure how well it will work for that, and how often you’ll have to clean it in those conditions

Thanks I've order 4 grip (shipping to france), I'm a bit concerned cause I like to skate fast, with lot of powerslide and some bowl skating, I hope it will work. I'd say that when I was skating a lot, It was like 1 board and 1 pair of shoes a month so I'm really curious to know how it holds up and if I like it. I started to skate more like I used to and I prefer to spend money on a new fresh board more often than just having to change shoes because of the wear. You could buy new sole to.

But you are not buying just grip tape your buying new shoes, so that 63 figure is a false equivelance?

Yes if you replace the shoes every three months because the sole/entire shoe gets stretched out 63 is the average

Nah man I tried Mob and DKL rubber and the DKL was no less grippy. Skated Mob, Black Diamond, Grizzly, Jessup, etc. for years and DKL non-abrasive is the best. Same grip as Mob but washable and saves your shoes!

the skatepark where I skate the most at once of the quarter pipes there is right next a of dirt. which my skateboard loves apparently, but the dirt makes it too slippery after a while for my linking at least.

@@ZakeryClubb That's fine just bring a firm handbrush on you to take out the soil & dust and it's like new. You can even bring cleaning fluid solvent & a towel to improve the grip just don't get any liquid near the boltholes or on the maple

@@ZakeryClubb Jessup will perform better than anything because unlike Mob, it won't cause your board to stick to your feet when you don't want it to. But it will wear down your shoes and has a shorter lifespan than rubber. My recommendation? Get non-slip shoes for working in kitchens that are cut like skate shoes, and use non-abrasive. It will be better than Jessup, Mob, etc.

I’ve been skating DKL for years now and I’ll say that once you get used to how it performs (not a whole lot different) you just adjust and no problems. The only downside is that it needs to be dried off when it gets wet and it will wear down quicker than regular grip tape. But, to not have my finger tips filed down or my shoes, socks and pants wear holes in them is worth the trade off. Just my two cents.
